Cracking video Mark, what a wonderful place to explore by boat. I had a very memorable stop off in Nuuk while working on an offshore vessel. We climbed the highest peak adjacent to the city in trainers (mountaineering boots & crampons would have been more appropriate) and the views were spectacular! It's surreal that such a small city is the capital, with around 18,000 population and no roads going in or out. Beautiful, pristine country. Send my best regards to Rhys. God bless and fair winds, Chris 👍 p.s. We share the same surname. :-)
Thanks Chris! It's a really spectacular country for sure. We couldn't believe the lack of roads, boat and helicopter being really the only ways to get around. Interesting, looks like the comments section is 90% Barr so far 😁
A great video! Some advice.....I wouldn't be that close to those icebergs, if they break and roll over, you wouldn't have a chance! It happened to us while fishing. We were pulling our cod nets, getting closer to iceberg, about a mile away when it broke apart and rolled over. We threw the net overboard and ran away from the 6' wave and the ice coming towards us! I decided to turn into the wave, instead of it coming over the stern. Good thing, the wave was 6' high and the ice bits were running past the boat like a river! Very scary at the time. You don't know the dangers it can cause, until it's too late. Also with a sailboat you don't have the speed to get away fast enough! Believe me I know! I live on the east coast of Canada in iceberg alley! Just some good advice! Take care and safe sailing!
