    Hey medic loved the video can't wait to finish watching the rest of them now you may not read this but I have some advice for you that I've picked up along the years. I noticed while you were using your drill press you were wearing gloves, I've had a couple friends get very hurt from gloves getting caught in the bit and causing much more damage than a minor or major cut from the bit! Just looking out for a fellow RC'er! hope your enjoying the new crawler!

      @TheRealRCSparks  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +James Shaw Well, you are always welcome on this channel James. I know this is nothing in comparison.. but if it helps.. I also do the show with health issues :( I have 2 torn discs in my lower spine.. and have daily traction therapy. I have been doing the show with severe back pain for more then 7 years.. it's just more painful then ever. It sure helps me realize how amazing it is to have a body that does what it is supposed to.. and Im a little jealous. Just goes to show we are all blessed in different ways.. and all of us have challenges to go through in this life. I continue to create this show to better help those who can't (for a variety of reasons) escape. I hope this show, and the other videos give you a smile, and help alleviate your pain, if only for a few moments a day. RC love Brother, and I hope you have a smashing New Year ;`)

    Why did you drill into the motor? Wouldn't it be an easier and safer upgrade to drill the holes in the motor mount?

  • @Wild-Wes
    @Wild-Wes 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    excellent vid. This video will come in handy, cause I wanna do the same thing. But my motor is from an old bosch drill. But the big issue it is ac. So I will have to get some kind of current changer to change it from ac to dc. My motor from my ecx race truck just went to shit. Everytime I pull the accelerator it smokes. I hate brushed motors. But brushless are also not water proof. Everybody gets that totally wrong. You need to build or buy a cover for your electronics.

    But 48P gears in a 1/4th scale is a little disappointing and asking for trouble. Although 6.5Kg is not that heavy, for its size.
    Looking forward to the end result and running video.

    Why didn't you cover the face of the motor with tape to keep metal shaving out of the motor while you were drilling into the case?

    • @TheRealRCSparks
      @TheRealRCSparks  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I have a high pressure air line that blows it out. There will be dirt in there, soon enough..

    • @aaronrad
      @aaronrad 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +RCSparks Studio I saw that you used compressed air I was thinking it might be harmful because the shaving will stick to the magnets inside the motor. I'm enjoying the build keep up the good work.

      +sander curtis i guess you live and learn ^^ there is not really a good way, you just have to try it out. think it depends on how well made they are aswell and how tight the tolerance is, if everything is spot on then they should take alot of force and abuse

    Apologies if I've missed this, but, what's the benefit of using brushed over brushless for this project? Thanks in advance! :)

    • @TheRealRCSparks
      @TheRealRCSparks  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Meteor Shower not a problem bud! The advantage for me is that I don't have to worry about Sensor cables, cogging, or the motor being "waterproof". A Brushed motor removes those issues for me.. and generally, depending on the make and manufacturer - a brushed motor has more low end torque

    • @meteorshower8160
      @meteorshower8160 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Ohh yes I see the issue with cogging now! Due to crawling being a slow speed things cogging isn't exactly needed! Cheers pal!

      ***** Haha happy RC'ing!! On Christmas day, I opened up my main present, the Blade nano QX 3D, I knew it was coming because I confirmed the order. Bound it to my transmitter, then powered her up, and bang a dead motor on arrival!! Plus many of the LEDs were gone. Taking it to my hobby shop tomorrow and seeing what they say about it due to us ordering it off them. Hope yours was a bit better! You genuinely seem a good bloke, even just talking to commenters, not many large channels do that. Happy new year Medic! :)
