Thank you very much for this concise and succinct explanation of the Philosophy of AI. You have successfully stimulated my interest in this seemingly fascinating field of study.
The fact nothing but biology gives rise to such emerging functions and we don't see other elements or miraculous series of events in nature giving such rise we can't assume any other can understand no matter how much it does
The brain is a machine. However, computers are a very different type of machine. They may simulate certain aspects of human intelligence and ‘display’ certain ‘behaviors’’ but why would we assume that simulations would ever transfer over to the real thing? It is not a justifiable assumption.
Ask A.I to think of a number 1-10. It can't, that's it. That's A.I Nothing more than legos built by an algorithm. Humans trying to anthropomorphize A.I is truly the scarier part.
@@NinjaCoderInTraining No, it can't. It can generate any random number given that it's programmed to. It cannot literally "think" of a number. You cannot command an algorithm to think anything.

Is a slime mold more "intelligent" than a computer? Notice I say computer not a.i.. Slime molds have no brains yet they are alive, feed and search for food by reacting to the environment. If one believes that intelligence is being able to do what others tell it to do then intelligence is action without volition; thought without reason; reason without will; will without life; life without evolution. Without motive: survival, is anything intelligent? Is life itself prior to intelligence? If so then the proper question is not if strong a.i. is possible, but what exactly is weak a.i.? How do we properly characterize this ability? If not intelligence then...intellect? Autism? Idiot savant? Retardation? Math?

Such an important topic, thanks for covering this.
Not bad but I was put off by the weird mispronunciation of John Searle. It's /sɜːrl/ as in furl or hurl.
Thank you so much sir it's very helpful for me

Thanks for breaking this down!
Commenting for the algorithm!
Well done!

Um AI can totally do that though.

@@ItsChrisFtw "Technically it isn't really thinking" you scream as the robots move in for the kill.
This is a weak argument. Once a perfect counting AI gets released, you will have to slightly adjust your definition.
@@davidchen1348 Lmao, dude. It won't ever be able to THINK. Stop humanizing A.I, it's so cringe to listen to.
If Rene Descartes is the father of modern philosophy, then who is Ludwig Wittgenstein?
