  • This was some advice/pointers I gave to someone who wanted to buy an S600 W220 (2001/2002 models) with the naturally aspirated M137 engine so they can put some straight pipes on it. They wanted some advice on what to look out for. I put together some of my advice.

    He made great points in this video. That being said if you can work on the car yourself and you have a couple of dollars in your pockets grab a v12 w220. Parts are more pricey compared to most vehicles but the ride is worth it. I own a s500 and s600. Best cars I own.

    I bought a CL600 as the third owner. 110k miles. The original owner and the certified preowned, then me. I needed to get some work done on it; I put ~7k in so far. I’ve since found an independent shop here in California. I don’t see many of these on the road and the car hasn’t been a problem. The work I did was preventative and I needed to replace the transmission mount. I found your video because I was thinking about straight piping the CL600 but my independent mechanic said not to do so...I do like to be subtle as I can but I sure would like to hear that engine roar...thanks for the video.

      Long Tube Headers + Full Cat-Less Exhaust + Aftermarket High Performance Mufflers w/ Manual or Electronic Silencers.
      Press a button, loud F1 sound, press again, quiet deep tone. Happy engine, happy car, happy owner.
      Get it tuned for:
      1 - Theft Mode
      2 - Valet Mode
      3 - Eco Mode
      4 - Performance Mode
      5 - Show Off Mode (nice pops and backfires)
      $3 / $5K in parts and labor but its so worth it. Should eliminate PCV valve, clean blow by from entire intake system and get a Oil Catch Can vented to atmosphere. Make your cars engine run like it should, make more power and save more fuel and last longer by relieving crank pressure and giving it more exhaust flow.

    You have to pay to play! $5k-$10 a year in maintenace at the dealer. DIY Buy the tools, a top of the line code reader and have $10k ready for dealer only parts. Add a roof & trunk spoiler ;)

    just picked up a 2002 s600 had a leak at the upper rad hose replaced hose and rad and she runs like a beast she still has a CEL for cylinder 8 and 9 misfire but not really worried about the price since she runs good now and I am assuming will run way better after the repair

    Coil packs are EXPENSIVE, but they’re like ordinary maintence... they only last about 3 years each

      Lol. Coil packs don't only last 3 years.

    Can some of these repair bills be avoided with an extended warranty?

    • @frankholmes5431
      @frankholmes5431 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1WayUp ask yourself how a company makes money giving extended warranty on a car like this. Warranty is to help sell a new car after that it’s just a scam

    • @leesmith813
      @leesmith813 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A dealer would be happy to offer a 1 to 2 year extended warranty on a second hand Toyota, knowing full well nothing will go wrong and it's easy money.
      An extended warranty on a used S600 with over 100,000 miles?? I doubt they exist, or if they do, it would be very expensive. The dealers probably try to weasel their way out of the standard warranty.

    You don't say "An S600", you say "A S600". A is used before a noun that starts with a consonant sound (e.g., “s,” “t,” “v”).
    An is used before a noun that starts with a vowel sound (e.g., “a,” “o,” “i”).

    Very repetitive and the noise at the end is shcytte and it's ridiculously loud. These cars are purchased new primarily by millionaires. They are millionaires' cars. You'll have no difficulties whatsoever if you buy one of these and you are also a millionaire. Even basic maintenance constitutes a vicious assault on your pocket. Nonetheless they are truly stunningly epic cars and every time you drive one, you'll feel like a god.
