vtt355 Man relax nothing happened with the Maracana after the Rio Olympics. It is still being regularly used by Flamengo and Fluminense as their stadium and hosts some national side games as well. All the media liars told Maracana was being destroyed or something but it really isn't. Some other Olympic places are in really bad condition but we all knew they would be badly treated after the Olympics. This happened almost everywhere they hosted it.
Im actually really pissed That we got rid of Råsunda (where my team AIK played). I understand That we needed a new national stadium, but how could we get rid of the stadium where a world cup final in Sweden was played! Even tho sure Sweden today has newer and better stadiums, that was a historic site, and as you can see by this video, the only one who hosted a WC Final that got destroyed and not reutilized.
It may have looked better but it was a terrible stadium to watch football in. Lots of pillars and restricted views, shallow angled seating and a dog racing track in between the pitch and the stands. The facilities inside were terrible as well. Now it's a World Class facility.

@@guilhermecividini2945 Would it have been able to have safely hold that many. Almost 200k sounds very dangerous. I'm sure the atmosphere was great but can imagine crowd control was precarious. I know there's a lot of criticism of modern stadiums for lacking atmosphere compared to the past but I do think safety first.
