I took my first CPC exam last Saturday and felt really good about it! My dad asked me what I thought was the most helpful resource I used. I told him TH-cam videos. You have truly been such a blessing and I am very thankful to have you in my life. Happy Thanksgiving! :)
I am scheduled to take mine 12/17! I’m nervous only because I have never been the best test taker! These videos are extremely helpful! I k it to did well! 😊
@@keilawilliamsyoung2369 my best piece of advice is to purchase caffeine tablets. Seriously. They work wonders. You have about 2.3minutes per question, some will take you longer than others so it averages out pretty quick. Also, don't overthink things. Once you find the code that fits best mark it n move on. GOOD LUCK!!!
I have learned so much from watching your videos. You take time on how to explain step by step problem solving skills and how to research to get the most accurate results. At 60 years old I am a recent online graduate from Penn Foster college in Medical Billing and Coding. I will be sitting for my CBCS exam in a few weeks. Watching your videos has given me confidence along the way that I can do this. Thank you for all you do!!
Thank you so much for your content. Because of everything I’ve learned from you I was finally able to get a job as a Risk Adjustment Coder and I absolutely love it!! I have shared your content with my new employer and coworkers!!!
This is all spot on!!! I ve been coding almost 10 yrs on the facility side of my hospital and Ive trained in all the coding areas that others say they aren't comfortable coding and my boss loves that and my pay increases have definitely increased because I am flexible and my manager knows she can count on me to fill in other areas when I'm not coding my surgeries. It keeps me from getting bored with coding the same thing all the time too. I love your videos I wish you were making these when I first started out in coding!
Yes. This video could not have come at a better time. I obtained my CPC back in April. Struggled at first getting that opportunity in coding without prior experience so I went for a billing position. Fast forward 4 months later I’ve been able to practice coding on the denial side that has led to me to learn new resources in CMS.gov including the PTP edit table, reviewing tons of reimbursement policies and billing instructions. All of this has strengthened my coding. When I look back it is everything you said here that has made me successful. Thank you so much. Your videos absolutely helped.
I was hired as a newly CPC ceritified student as a level 1 coder at a University, but was so stressed/overwhelmed w/ to much information/research and indepedent learning I had to quit. Don't be hard on yourself if you need to work your way up or need more hand holding at first.
I one of my positions was ER Registration and my coworkers used to think I was strange because the "most Sr." employee would want to sit and have the "Jr" employees gather all of the info and just bring it to her to enter. This was before rolling computer stations. We had to go to the patient room, gather info and signatures then find an open desk and get that patient registered as fast as possible. I did all of my own data entry. In the ER, TIME matters when getting the patients registered and if I am going to get dinged on an audit for an error I want the entire facesheet to be the information that I entered. I wanted to own the mistake and learn from it. The entire registration department had and "over-haul" and I was one of the few employees that stayed employed. A co-worker that also stayed employed is now a Medical coder Auditor and I am so freaking proud of her.
Fantastic advice, I'm looking forward to this career step. I'm going to navigate through more of your videos, and speaking of specialties, is it favorable to employers for coders who take that step and learn other specialties from AAPC, like, CHONC for oncology etc? Thank you Victoria for all your content. I passed my CPC exam first take, and videos like yours, helped so much!
I got into cpc training program over two years ago I completed that online study sessions and all, but due to some family issues I couldn’t take the cpc exam. I ran out of that time slot and now want to complete the certification, but I feel I am lost. What is the best option where I don’t have to spend money that much money. Any suggestions?
Is it necessary to have an education through a school before registering to take the CPC? I am going through a school now but so much of it I’m question whether I need to be spending this time and money?
There is no requirement of any sort to sit for the CPC exam other than pay for the exam and schedule it. However, if you don't have training in medical coding you might not do so well. 😉
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm looking at your preppy course online. Please, I just need the measurement this online course will help me. I have purchase other courses and have been taking classes at a community college which have been very exhausting, but I haven't quit. I'm now looking at the Preppy course...in a dilemma. All I want is to get CPC certified and do medical coding. Please advise.

So I'm in school for health information management. I eventually will sit for the RHIT cert but do you think I should get the cpc as well?
If you want to work in the capacity of a medical coder, yes.
@ashleycrawford if you feel comfortable, you can early test for the CCS I believe. Having the RHIT and CCS is a great combination to have!
Thank you 💞💞😊
