Peter Thiel is generally brilliant, but I think U.S. STEM education is great - and very much worth the effort. If anyone wants to consider an alternative to tradtional college, they may consider taking U.S. college STEM courses on summer breaks earlier (while they are still in high school) versus skipping college altogether.
The true question is "Great for who"? It is great for society? How many additional value it adds, or it's just another mechanism of stealing money from ones to others which just increases inequality?
