    I've never been to college, barely graduated high school, and I'm the CEO of a small, local business in Miami. If you can afford an internet connection, you don't need college. Personally, high school was enough to get me sick of teachers, who feel like geniuses, because they teach, when in fact, they're morons. Forget college, the internet is all I need. If I wanna debate some clueless, pompous professor, the internet is full of em

      Education system produces hard working people, not hard thinking people. school is not a place for philosophy or creativity. but it's not all that bad, because we get hard working doctors and workers that benefit us. School is not for creative people.

      Derek Thomas Lirio couldn't agree anymore. People tend to follow along that mental that school is the way to be successful and a successful non graduate must of be something like a-gifted-millionaire, like bill gates..when success isnt measured that way at all. You could just make 60,000 a year and do awfully good for your self. By Gaining necssaary skills or business moves that can't be taught at school. In less than four years you can learn and achieve alot. I'm not against college at all. But it's not necessary and a bit misleading.

      you need skill, I'm graduate Audio Engineer, but I'm study MBA, personal MBA book, because I'm want gain more skill, incase my major doesn't work, I can be at least a management position , which is equal pay as audio engineer, so be smart and earn skill, and demonstrated to potential employer

    • @DerekThomasLirio
      @DerekThomasLirio 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I've been working in business since I was about 15. I can tell you, getting an MBA means nothing. Audio engineering, I guess it depends what your goals are. But there is absolutely no reason why you couldn't have started working both those fields since high school.

    I have a high school diploma, (big whoop!) I own two custom 18 wheelers, I work four days a week, 10-12 hours a day and I put on average $127,000 to $150,000 a year in my pocket after taxes/expenses which is more than enough for me as I chose not to marry or have kids. I know two guys with college degrees, they change my oil and tires.

      Leonard Rey Barba we also need electricians, power plant technicians, plumbers, construction workers to keep those homes running. Not to mention the people who build roads, fix our cars, fly planes (no degree required actually), and inspect those aircraft so we don’t fall from the sky and die. There are people who innovate and those who find better ways to maintain what’s being created. These are blue collar workers.

    To answer the title of the video, this is my advice.
    If your into these following list of majors, then college is for you
    - Medical Field
    - Professional Engineering
    - Hard Sciences (Computer, Chemical, Medical)
    - Accounting
    - Law (Not Recommended but be my guest)
    - Education (Also not Recommended but the choice is yours)
    If your not into these subjects, your better off considering these alternatives
    - Community College
    - Trade School
    - Starting a business
    - Apprenticeship
    - Coding Boot Camp
    If your into anything in the Arts and Humanities (Art, Writing, Acting Philosophy, anything that ends with the term "studies"), your better off teaching yourself and doing it on the side.

    • @qazmko22
      @qazmko22 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love this list! I only disagree with 2 points.
      Law: Do not practice law unless you have a full ride scholarship or get into the top law schools or want to be a corporate lawyer (soul sucking) or Injury Lawer (think TV ad lawyer) or Independent Lawyer.
      Education: Yes, we need more teacher at all levels, but the low pay and long hours might discourage you.

    Not all educators "feel like geniuses" and not all educators are "morons."

College is more secure, of course u still have to do your research and make sure you’re not getting a bullshit degree and working towards something actually practical. Sure, some of u may make it but I’m not gonna take that risk. I, myself am still learning about investing and all I can about business WHILE getting a worthwhile degree

    College isn't required for geniuses with innate drive and ambition, but for us mere mortals or pedestrians, it is the ticket to opportunities we otherwise wouldn't have access to. It doesn't make us inherently superior to those without a degree, but we do have more economic opportunities in general.

    also alot of kids drop out do to bad grades in their gne ed class even with good grades in their applied classes. why becuase they do not have the ability to just go to trade school where they would do well because financial aid does not exist for trade school and companies want you to already be trained so we have a gap in people who can do jobs in the trades. i am such a case. got good grades in my comp classes but sucked at my general ed, plus other stuff, but even with experience and certifications alot of entry level help desk jobs that wont take more of my knowledge to do than an A+ cert want an associates or a bachalors usualy the latter. so im stuck in an under paid job because a life and b i couldnt just go to trade school instead of college that actualy takes 4 years to complete a so called 2 year degree because you know people have to have a job whale they are in school. the people who talk on there interviews and shit in the big universities and big cities or online have no clue what they are talking about. i have the skills to do a lot of jobs but without a piece of paper from an institution that i have to pay for or experience that i cant get because everyone wants you to have it already with an employer i am stuck. welcome to america home of the fucked.
