My uncle Stephen was born on December 26th. He died in the Navy during WWII. This will always remind me of him. 🥀

I miss listening to these classic Christmas carols: "Good King Wenceslas," "O Tannenbaum," "We Three Kings," "I Saw Three Ships," and "Here We Come A Wassailing." You just don't hear them as much anymore.

Saint Wenceslas the Duke of Bohemia and patron of Czech lands.
Legend has it that, princess from England once visited Kingdome of Bohemia on the Christmas and there she heard the legend and carol of st. Václav. She was so taken by it that she take the lagend of st. Václav back to England. After some time it become a Christmas song.

I was sorry to hear about Mr. Luxon's passing. He was a great baritone. May he rest in peace.

Blessing from a song that lied about king Wenceslas being a king and collecting firewood? He was a duke and never collected anything and got murdered by his brother.

I love the way this song makes King Wenceslas sound like some kind of manly giant.

And no, Aled Jones didn't sing Walking in the Air in the Snowman cartoon! That was Peter Auty!

Fortunately, this is now common knowledge and good that Peter Auty gets the credit he deserved.

I had a terrible argument with my mum over this one year. I was right, of course! Both sang it very well, but very differently.

@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic You might be surprised...If TH-cam comments on videos of various versions of the Walking on The Air song are any indication, there are still /many/ who think Aled Jones sang the original in the 1982 animated film The Snowman. While I've not seen any evidence that would place the blame on Jones, I am inclined to agree with those who maintain that he ought to publicly credit Auty.

    GREAT

This is extremely good, I think; traditional approach is best... The song stems from an earliest Age- Qeklevtha lived in the aeon just before the last Golden, or Satya Age; not an Iron, or Kali Age- there were actually Five such. She was a Saint of Anu, or Demeter; the original lyrics were about Beliih, or Embla, the first ancestor of Second Race, nordic (not Eve)...
