In the 1980's when I was a "pool boy", I had a wonderful Irish couple as customers. They gifted me with some home made Irish Creme. It was fire! I think of them still.
This is my favorite Christmas Carol. I always took the message to heart, and I volunteer with charity organizations year round. My sons volunteered at my side from the time they were small. We still volunteer. It’s a blessing.

Nollaig Shona Daoibh, gentlemen! This version of the old tune greatly warms my heart, though I only have one regret: In my part of the States, though it’s often notorious for snow, there’s none to be had this year. Perhaps good King Wenceslas is wearing bigger boots on his trek. Slianté to you and a happy new year!
In my schooldays, when we sang this song in choir class at this time of year, we found it more amusing to sing .... ".... thou shall find the Winter's rage freeze thy balls less coldly." 🎵🎶
Did you know Sierra Nevada brews a Narwhal imperial stout? My wife came up with the idea of doing 25 beers in an Advent style arrangement for me (chocolate and ornaments for the kids of course) and that was one I received last night! Great timing!
Absolutely, stay strong. We're looking forward to the time when we look out at you from the stage, and it will happen as soon as it's safe for everyone.

what a great Christmas song! ^^, sounds so soothing and heart brightening! :) cant wait to let my friends and I dance to this, just sounds so perfect for the holidays , wonderful!
How interesting! Here it is meat that goes with wine, but I have seen "flesh" (wine and flesh sounds to me like a religious connection to the Eucharist/Lord's Supper) and also even "mead"! The tune does feel like it goes well with the Irish accents! Haha.
I love this rendition of the carol. But this is a different video than the one that originally came up on TH-cam when I was searching out various versions of the song.
This has always felt to me like one of the finest examples of goodly human kindness. The very idea that a wealthy and powerful man might care for the less fortunate seems to be an entirely lost dream in the United States of today.
The true story behind Wenceslas is actually pretty dark. He was a pious king who was murdered by his own brother, Boleslaus the Cruel, on his way to a feast in his honor.
I’m trying to find out what year The Irish Rovers produced the video of Good King Wenceslas where they are outside in the snow and appear from behind a monument. One of the four singers is wearing a red and white Santa Claus hat in the video. I really like the enthusiasm they/you put into singing it!!!!!!!!! At the end of the video, two of the singers splash beer on each other from cups!!!!😀
@@TheIrishRovers That is Terrible that they are using your recording!!!!! 😫😩🙁🙁 & All sorts of people are commenting on the video assuming that they are watching your group!!!! Unfortunately, at least three different people who have TH-cam channels have that same video on their channel. Do you want me to report each of those channels to TH-cam? Or maybe your lawyer can sue whoever is pretending to be your group in those videos.
Got a couple of questions about this rendition of this song. Why did you change the lyrics "Bring me flesh, and bring me wine, bring me pine logs hither: Thou and I shall see him dine, when we bear them thither." to "Bring me meat, and bring me wine, bring me pine logs hither: Thou and I will see him dine, when we bear them thither."? Also, was it intentionally to spell Page as Paige, as a Page is: "A page or page boy is traditionally a young male attendant or servant, but may also have been used for a messenger at the service of a nobleman." (-Wikipedia)? I could care less about these, it just weirds me out that these things stuck out.

Irish accent is officially my favorite accent in the world. The awesome Irish accents makes this song even more awesome.
Yes, as if the carol was made to be sung in that manner, by The Irish Rovers. It sounds so natural!
