- Hey you guys! I'm so glad you are here!
Today's video is a little different from my normal content, but I wanted to share a little bit of my teaching life on here, so let me know if you're interested in seeing more like this.
This will be my first year at a new school where I will be teaching High School Art & Yearbook!! I'm so excited!! Come a long as I take you on a tour of my new classroom which is HUGE (to me), and lets talk about our goals for this classroom setup!

Every part of my body wants to organize and clean those storage units 🤣 I love the room, very big and unique with the black wall and ceiling tiles. When I was in middle school they had ceiling tiles of old artwork and it was beautiful!
Right!?! It's been pretty overwhelming going through everything, as you'll see in the next vlog! I'm in love with the room too though, so unique and has so much potential! I love the idea of the ceiling tiles, such a neat way to showcase student work!
Find what you need and you’ll see what kids love organizing. They’re really helpful and you can give them hours. It will be done before winter break and you won’t need to stress about it.
Such a good idea Jaune, and a great way to instill responsibility with the students!
I would make the small storage room student art work with shelves. The bigger room would be easier to organize and keep things organized for supplies and books.
Carolann, I actually thought about that too when I was cleaning out the shelving in the smaller room! You’ve convinced me to do it!!

What a fun ceiling!!! Use that closing cabinet that is in the room for art storage. I remember (20 years ago) in Art 1 when a student from another class stole my work and ruined it as their own. And I had the issue of kids stealing notebooks from the bins.
Oh no, i'm so sorry that happened to you! The thought didn't even cross my mind. I will definitely think of a way to make sure student's work is secure! Thank you for the advice!
I always put my tables in a u shape then that way I can teach from the middle and less talking to each other as well.
Oh my that closet! There is a lot of space in there. That is awesome! It kinda gave me anxiety but once it's organized it will be wonderful.
ME TOO!! The space is amazing, but it was very overwhelming at first. Can't wait to show y'all how I organized it this Thursday!
@@ashtonelizabeth oh you are finished! I will tune in to see it. My classroom is so small. That is why I went with the farmhouse cozy look to it. I just posted my final classroom video today! I am so happy with the room. I will check back on your channel Thursday to see yours.

Keep the old hardcover books to make altered books. It's a great project and if you plan it right, you can have your students work on spreads within the altered book for an entire grading quarter. I always looked forward to the altered book project when I taught art.
