Okay, changing my comment, although it's a similar sentiment. There's a lot of work to this, but I loved your idea of using zipties on the rainrail, as my rivet gun would not put a rivet all the way through the rail. So that worked out much better. I used your video as a guide, but I didn't take anything out of the car other than the top, rear plastic and the rainrail. I left the entire rollbar, and the frame of the top in place. But I did take out the rear plastic and the windscreen on top of the rollbar to give me a little room. Then when I was installing the new top, I connect the side bars of the rainrail almost blind just feeling by hand. Then I installed the rest of the top onto its frame, and after I buttoned up the top bar at the front of the top, I pulled it tight and latched it. That allowed me to just move both seats forward and lean them forward, so standing behind them, I put all the rest of the middle rainrail nuts on, and tightened them all up. Yes it was cramped, but not having to take all that other crap out was great. I really liked your vid though, and enjoyed the music.
Thank you for this video. I know how to get to the blown out speakers between the seats for the Bose system. Ten years of top down driving with the radio blasting have taken its toll on the little speakers
Apologies if this has already been asked and answered, but which top is this? I'm trying to decide what to buy and the price range from $400-$1000+ indicates a pretty big range in quality. Is this a cloth or vinyl top?
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, this was a vinyl one, it was right at $500. It seemed pretty decent, but if your planning on keeping yours for more than a few years I think I'd aim for better quality.
Oh, the convertible top job! 😣 I had to do that on a family members Sebring one time. *It was miserable!!* Glad you made good progress though Jay! 😁👍 Sorry I didn't catch this video earlier. Take care and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
They're all miserable 😡 If I don't see another soft top for another 10 years I won't complain. 😃 I looked back at the date codes and realized I started pulling that top on November 6th. It's been a bit of a journey finishing that up.
Jesus Christ.....I hope I don't need to have the top on my '06 replaced anytime soon!! I keep it cleaned and protected and it's currently in really good condition, so hopefully I've got a few years left for it...geez.
I appreciate the work done to show us all what is involved, however I am trying to understand the Musak playing over the audio? I can hear you talking behind the music at times but cannot make out the commentary, too bad. Also, I know how to unhook a spring from the cable, would have much preferred to find out how the top release but comes off without breaking it so that you can remove the rear molding.
Holy crap! After just watching this first part I’ve come to the conclusion that I will NEVER try to install my own new top when the time comes. It’s ten years old so it’s on my mind but it is in excellent shape and I take great care of it so I’m guessing I get another 6-7 years out of it.

Excellent! Glad to know that ordeal will benefit someone!
I have the same exact one. I mean the same color and everything. Even down too we're the hood is slightly faded 🤪
Excellent video thank you
What brand of top did you go with

Thanks! Hopefully I won't ever need to put another top on this car once the new top is on.
Instructions are for people who can't get it right the first time.
🤣🤣
Welp, then that makes it official, I absolutely need instructions then.

They're way more fun to install when you're in your 20's than your 50's. 🙃
