You need to watch Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love But I Won't Do That" and "Bat Out Of Hell" VIDEOS.

Meatloafs songs were written by Jim steinman, a master at “turn of phrase.” When the lyrics combine with meatloaf’s theatrics, it’s an entire experience.
You may want to look up songs written by Jim steinman. Some were recorded by a few other artists, but they all offer his signature turn of phrase.
One of my favorites from Meatloaf written by Jim steinman is “Read ‘em and Weep.”
Edited to add: I just stumbled across your channel and you remind me of me when I was younger. I’m a writer by trade, and always appreciated the lyrics of songs as much as, if not more than, the musical accompaniment.

This is my favourite Meat Loaf song. It's beautiful and he had a very powerful wide-ranging voice. I think he had a very dramatic flair and was a fantastic showman. Another great Meat Loaf song to react to is "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)." I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I really appreciate your awesome reactions. We truly had the best music back in the '70s and '80s and it was magical. I'm also a huge fan of Steve Perry and Journey, andI look forward to seeing you react to any of their videos or live performances as well such as "Mother, Father," "Faithfully," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin,'" "Wheel In The Sky," just to name a few. Thank you, I really enjoyed your reaction to "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad."😄

7:59 The end of the song helps to explain why he thinks a relationship without saying " I love you" can be advantageous in the long run. Considering that the love of his life wouldn't commit to saying she loved him when he so badly needed to hear it. That experience now makes him more committed than ever to not being hurt again in a similar relationship. The only problem is that he's the one now inflicting the pain of rejection and he doesn't even realize it. I'm sure the love of his life probably did it to him also for the very same reasons. A very sad and thought provoking song which is typical of any Meat Loaf performance. He's simply Amazing.

This is one of my favorite Meat Loaf songs. He was very animated when he performed on stage. He had a great voice. He was also an actor.
BTW: The piano player is the song writer. He wrote the songs for this album.

Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a few of months of each other.😇😇😭😭
I still have this album on vinyl.
"Yes, I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks,
but there ain't no Coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".

*Bro! Meat Loaf was a CHARACTER. After high school in the late 1960s, he intentionally gained 60 pounds to fail the physical exam for the Vietnam War draft. He still got a notice to appear and ignored it! He even appeared on Broadway!* 🙌🏾💪🏾👊🏾

He didn't write the songs but he was a fantastic singer and performer. The guy at the piano, Jim Steinman, wrote most of the songs for Meat Loaf. Meat always emphasized that he considered himself first and foremost as an actor, secondly as a singer.
Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf were lifelong friends. They knew each other from the Broadway theater where they both worked in the 1960s. Meat played in some of Jim's musicals. Jim was fascinated from Meat's voice.

I think his heart was broken so badly by his prior relationship, where the girl he loved told him the same thing that he's telling his girl now, that he refuses to open his heart again to anyone for fear of having it broken again. Most people miss the points of the stories that Meatloaf tells because he brings the twist in subtly. In PBTDL it's in the first line "Well, I remember everything as if it happened only yesterday." And, if you caught that then you realize by the end of the song that they are both caught in this loveless relationship that neither one of them wants to leave because of the vows they made to each other long ago. If you miss that line then he really just sounds like a jerk who played this woman just to get in her pants. In this song he also sounds like a jerk if you don't hear the line "There is only one girl that I will ever love, and that was so many years ago". That makes it apparent that he is still so heartbroken over his past relationship that he refuses to allow himself to love anyone again for fear that he'll get his heart ripped open again. I appreciate that you listen to the lyrics and can discern the real meanings of the stories he tells.
