      Glad it helped and I’m sorry the volume was so low!! This was one of our earlier videos and we were still figuring out things like audio levels. Since this one was filmed, we’ve done a lot to improve our videos overall, hopefully you might check out our channel page and see if there are other recent ones we have that you would like too!!

      @@TheHobbyMusician I watched your recent and the audio is a tad better but will still be quite inaudible if on the subway or noisy area.. I guess you still need a mic. It will go a long way rather than working in post trying to fix the audio

      Thanks for checking that, and thanks for the tip!! I think you’re right, I’ll start looking into adding a mic to my setup. Thanks again!!

    It all depends on your needs.
    I use a reverb a lot more than my delay.
    Mostly the delay I use is for a “Slapback” effect for my Tele.
    Reverb gives a nice sweet “fullness” for playing rhythm and for arpeggios and fills.

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re absolutely right!! The situation often helps dictate what kind of effects you need. I love my reverbs for that fullness you mention too :o) Thanks so much for watching!!

    I could be a warning to those wanting to play...it started with a few instruments and one little amp. Now, I'm several thousand dollars into a music hobby(2 keyboards 12 guitars three bases seven amps, and 54 effects devices of all kinds. It's hurt my bank account, but I guess it's cheaper than drugs(in the long run). Be careful starting this hobby, cause it can get out of hand real quick.

    I bought Boss RV-6. You got both reverb( in different spaces) & delay(w/ +delay mode); Shimmer, Dynamic, and Modulate (like Chorus + reverb) are bonuses. Nice tutorial by the way. Play on man. Cheers!

    I've rarely use delay, in fact, don't even own a delay pedal these days, just reverb; and I use it sparingly. Whenever I gig I leave it up to the soundman as to how much reverb I should use, if at all, and walk around the venue with my wireless to get a sense of things. You have to trust the in-house soundmen because they know their venues and their system.

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s so true!! Each gig can be so different when it comes to venues and sound technicians so you’re definitely right, trusting the sound tech is vital. Thanks so much for pointing that out!! Play on my friend, play on!

    Thank you, im now building my small pedal board. I have a tuner, overdrive and bought a delay after watching your vid. I have a question though, some people say that you can use a distortion pedal as a pre amp or boost, is it true? since im planning to buy a distortion too. Thanks in advance

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s so exciting!! You can definitely use different kinds of drive pedals as boosts. You mentioned already having an overdrive pedal, you might be able to experiment with keeping the gain fairly low but raising the master volume for cleaner boost tones. Also, if you want to check out this other episode we did, it talks about building boards like you’re doing! th-cam.com/video/KUQNkEUDBxQ/w-d-xo.html. Can i run delay,reverb,mod into the drive channel of the amp ?

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You certainly can! Lots of people will run mods, like chorus and others, into drive channels with delays and reverbs in an effects loop of the amp if it has one. But there’s also a lot of people that will run everything straight into the amp like you described, getting great tones too!! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    In your opinion which one would be best for a electric acoustic ukulele.

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question!! I guess I would say that if you play more fast paced music, a delay pedal could add some rhythmic spice to things, but if you play mostly slower music, then a reverb pedal could add a lot more space and “feeling” to it. Either way, both pedals would sound really cool with your ukulele!! Play on my friend, play on!

    Get a Boss Katana amp if you can. It has basically every type of pedal you'll need, so it's a good place to start.

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right! The entire Katana line of amps have not only great amp tones, but the ability to include a whole array of Boss effects. As you said, it’s a great, flexible option for any guitarist!!

    I usually prefer reverb.Because it feels more natural and soft.

    • @TheHobbyMusician
      @TheHobbyMusician  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re right about the natural feeling of reverb!! I agree with you and whenever there’s a dedicated pedal for it, I go with that! I was only trying to say that if someone has to temporarily “cheat” the reverb sound with a delay pedal, they can get close but not perfect. 😄 Thanks for watching!!!
