I owned a 66 f100 for 10 years (from 1978-1988), but then restored my Dads 1968 F100. I loved both trucks and still drive the 68

I had a 66 Ford stepside with the 240CI inline 6. Max speed downhill with a tail wind was 65mph.Being a kid back in the 70's I repainted it Cadillac mid-night metallic blue, put on the white spoke wheels and installed a quadraphonic 8 track.

Ford don't use the twin I beam on the half ton 2wd pickups but on the 250 and higher they use the twin I beam

Problem is deathwobble truley exists from Fords inability to identify that heavy duty springs and gas shocks counteract against foam rubber bushings especially when they shrink causing massive feedback that overheats the shocks that inturn sticks the internal valves open from improper travel and starts the wobble......LOL....Get rid of the HD springs,,Get dampers instead of gas pressurized shocks also give the anti-swaybars more travel and get rid of the foam rubber bushings and replace w/ silicone or eurethane and youll be driving an LSC instead of a pickup..I know because I did it and I am deathwobble also backpain free...LOL

I remember seeing this commercial on tv when I was a kid. I think the first time I saw it was during The FBI tv show. Ford was a sponsor of the show.

You can see the solid axle read end swerve to the right as it entered the obstacle course. I have a '53 F100 that I put a 2008 Crown Vic under the front. Next, is the '94 Lincoln Mark VIII rear (IRS). I cant wait to experience it.

The old ford broncos had twin I beam suspension. I had a 86 years ago when I was younger. Just got a white 96 bronco 6 months ago with a 351 Windsor.
    Plan on keeping it forever

The narrator is the same guy that did every instructional, informational film in the 50's and 60's! He must have gotten quite wealthy.

The 65/6 Fords were the best of the 61/6 body style.
65 being the first year of the independent front suspension in the F-100,250s also true for 66,2 great 6s the 240/300,and the warhorse 352 FE V-8.
Nice looking grills for 65,and 6,,just a decent looking, nice driving tough as hell truck.

Its still rides far from smooth its a trucky ride and stops like a freight train.

Yeah I was wondering how many takes they had to do without it wandering off the track lol. I love old Fords and those Twin I Beams were tough, but they're not very well-mannered.
