- Dirt Biking Barstow to Vegas. Steve leads five riders Barstow CA to Las Vegas, NV on old Race Course. Awesome day with sand, rocks, dunes, salt flats, rocks, passes, valleys. Full day dirt bike ride 170 miles. We even had a bike blow up.
my best memories as a kid are dirtbiking with my dad. hes too old to ride offroad now, he sticks with his harley now lol but watching these vids makes me wanna get back into offroading. Thanks so much for posting a great video!!!
Sounds like something we might be interested in riding and filming. Thanks for sharing!
Dirt Bike Trails It’s a bucket list dirt bike ride
great video. reminds me of life a s a teenager in california.
I raced a 85 250r 3wheeler in the 1984 B to V race . It was quite an experience. I finished 6th in my class out of over 70 riders .
4 waves of 300 riders each starting side by side for a 1 mile drag race to the 1st turn . I started in the 4th wave and by then 1/2 the trails were nothing but whoops . Damm even though I'm 57 the trail still calls . I just don't ride as fast as I used to . I guess you do get wiser with age .
Much thanks for taking me back to when I had no fear except for a few animals lol .
Ride hard ride smart .
Keep riding man! I'm 51 and most my buddies are between 45 and 65. All riding dirt bikes.
Man I know what you're talkin about the drag race to the tires was the ultimate. You're right back then there is no fear other than the fact that you wanted to finish and not sit out in the desert for hours.
I really dig your videos my brother. Thank you very much for taking the time and sharing them with us. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thank you. You bet!
Ayy I live in Barstow😃Bout to get a bike can’t wait to ride 😁😁
Your normal high quality work on the video production....thank you for posting.
Good guys...beautiful scenery...looks really fun!
That was funny to hear the part about the radiator breaking off. We were all riding 2-stroke air-cooled Motors. But I was using blendzall and that motor didn't blow up. I also had some custom kernutt rear shocks that saved the day.
Awesome video!👍
Thank You
Great ride ! Thanks for sharing this with us. 👍👍😎
Do you have other videos that are about prep and what and how to pack for rides like this? Any links on trail bags, packs or gps navigation set ups as well.
Thanks
I raced this in 1972 as a 14 year old kid and finished 365 out of over 3,000 starters. I was riding a sponsored brand-new dt2 mx. I was so tired when I cross the finish line I hit some soft sand and I dumped it right there like 5 ft cross the finish line. I just couldn't hold on anymore. I still remember the start of the race watching those burning tires when they let the horn go and off we went.
That is so cool. Great memories.
@@StanleyKingChannel I think out of all the racing I did that was the most fun but also the most tiring. I raced a lot of the marathon's in San Jose and Lodi. We raced two hours or four hours with two riders. I used to think those were tough not even close to the Barstow to Vegas. Thanks again for posting a video. Also I was only 3 of 10 in our group to even finish. Many years later I was working for USA Today in San Bernadino and I actually ran into the guy that won that race, he actually worked in a different department. I think he was part of the group of The Desert Rats which was a bunch of professional desert racers in Southern California and they were good. Thanks again for posting. Great memories as a kid. I also received a medal and a t-shirtfor finishing the race. As a kid I wore that t-shirt until it had holes in it just to show everybody that I made it. That was a big deal back then if you finished that race let alone even placed in the top 100. The top Pro Rider in our group which actually happened to be one of the Jensen Brothers who's father owned the Suzuki shop in San Jose, finished I think somewhere in the top 50. He was also a Flat Tracker and not experienced in desert racing.
@@therockinguitarman Do you still ride? I'm almost 52 and the guys I ride with are between 48 and 66. Let's ride! This is the best sport on Earth.
@@StanleyKingChannel the only thing that I ride now is a hopped up 150cc scooter that I call an urban assault scooter. I stopped flat track racing back in 2012 do the fact that I have PLS. It is a stable form of ALS but almost as serious. Go check out my Instagram at rockinlongdrives to check out my scooter. I think you'll get a good laugh out of it.
Wow 72 I was 8 years old . I raced the 84 B to V . I know what you mean by being so tired at the finish. I had blisters on both hands lol
When I was a kid I used to live in Barstow in the mid 70's...They used to have a race from Barstow to Vegas......I didnt know the environmentalists allow this any more. VERY COOL!
I don’t think anybody cares about the environmentalist they just do the race😎
It’s hard to complain about bikes when areas in CA are just open dump sites now.
Rad ride!!!
What is the app you are showing in the video to trace your steps. It's really cool
Relive
This is exactly what I want to do. I'm looking for maps for this type of excursion. If you have any links please respond. Thanks.
I wish I had them. You can check out the animation in the video. The guy up front knew the course from racing it a bunch of times.
Awesome video man!!! Hey is there a downloadable map you could email me? Like a GPX or other format? Looking to do this next year.
We went with a guy who raced it and he did it all off of memory. I’m sure somebody out there must have the maps. I’m not a map guy unfortunately.
CAN you provide me with the map for this? I use Gaia. Love this channel
I live in Henderson so I could do this from my garage.
Best I have is the map in the video
Can you supply the KMZ file so we could use your track and use for a future ride?
What was the cause of the 2 stroke blown motor?
160 Hours on Motor and he ran it super hard all day.
Wow... you have to have good endurance for this run. I want to ride this.. Would you say Jan was a perfect time to do this??
yes sir
I live in apple valley do u know any places to ride just moved here from nc
Johnson Valley. King of Motos Country.
Is there any way I can get the map from you
I didn't map it. Sorry.
I bet you were so tired and sore when u were done
Nice video. 2 questions.
1. Was any part of your track too narrow to get a Jeep through?
2. Was there any private property or permission you needed for travel?
Jeep would be tough in places, but I'm sure doable. No permission necessary.
Stanley King Channel any chance you have a .gpx file for the route?
Exactly! I explore a lot in the Mojave. I see so much destruction from illegal dirt biking: riding in designated wilderness areas, posted "keep out areas", etc. There has been so much land set aside for off-roading, but as usual, many people choose to respect the beauty of the desert, do not think of future generations' enjoyment. Sounds like from your comments, you are part of this group.
Is it wide enough to take a RZR?
For most of it yes but if you followed our exact trail, there was definitely be pieces where you would have to find a go around. I think if you look at Google earth and the different Matt programs, I’m sure you could put it all together.
i keep a 12ft rope in my backpack if someone needs a tow
That’s a good plan
Does your cycles have all the fuel they need for this trip?
We stopped in Baker and Primm for fuel
Can a quad make it?
I think a quad could make it all day long
Omg this looks so fun how long did it take you total ?
about seven hours
How many times did you guys need to pump gas ?
twice
how long it take
Pretty much all day
What kind of mileage did you get doing this?
That was my 2012 300. About 25 miles per gallon. We stopped in Baker
I like to ride with y'all
holy crap that footage is so smooth! what camera are you using?
Go pro 7
Do you have the GPX file for this? Are you guys planning on doing this again anytime soon? Where did you stop for gas? We have 2.2 gallon tanks would that be enough between gas points or do we have to have pit points or chase trucks?
Keith Fox I would love to do it again it was pretty fun. We currently don’t have any plans. Also I was playing follow the leader and did not GPS it. If you look in the video you can see my map though.
www.relive.cc/view/vr63ZWjr3dO
That is the Relive file maybe you can pull the coordinates off of it
Next time you get stuck on a hill and the bikes about to die hold in the clutch and brake and wait for it to get jogger rpm and act like your ganna take off again but more acceleration
I can explain it better the way I said it was kinda weird and I said jogger instead of higher
How many times did you guy stop and get gas?
Doofy 2 times
@@StanleyKingChannel Nice

Raced the last real Barstow to Vegas race in 1973. It was 160 miles of hell with over 3000 riders. After that year the BLM ruined the race by making them follow existing roads.
is your bike really that weak?
Ha Ha! Nice.
Distance!??..
Time!??…
Gas!??..
Estimade trip!??..
Took about 7 hours. Something like 180 miles.
I live in barstow
It's a sweet ride.
@@StanleyKingChannel i really want a dirt bike what age did u start riding im 13
