It's an age thing. I am 58 and my childhood was filled with lust for the Dino 246 thanks to Tony Curtis, Roger Moore and The Persuaders. I, to this day, regard the Dino 246 as the most beautiful car ever designed by some distance. Far from perfect in technical terms, but just visually perfect from every angle and driving position. Some will argue that it's not a true Ferrari, but to me it is THE great Ferrari.

The 246 has always been my dream car. The looks, the sound, damn near perfect ( for me ) On top of that, it's proper driving. No fancy electronic aids. Seat of the pants stuff. You're a lucky boy mate.

"When in the world did this ever happen to someone like you?"
When you worked so hard on those Car-vid daily videos, one every day for 3 months (?), giving thousands of people a bright spot in a difficult time. That, I reckon, was at the core of the success of your channel.

    Perfect review 👌
I've been lucky enough to get to drive a 246GTS for the last 10 years and the wonderment & glee never fades.
Too good to be driven yet has to be driven with delightful respect not to mention a smug smile of adrenaline.
Keep up the good work.....'it's a horrible job but someone has to do it'.⛽

I have loved the 246 Dino since I was in primary school and always will. Never got to drive one but did get to sit in one once and that in itself was a dream come true. Have been collecting models etc of the car ever since but maybe one day. Nearly bought a 328 gtb once when they were in the high 20k's but now they are all a bit out of reach, This one as you say looks and SOUNDS a real beauty. Enjoy my friend, enjoy.

I guess our host/driver was rather overwhelmed driving such an incredible automobile. He surely isn’t always at such a loss for words. Hopefully as he drives more iconic cars he’ll not be so flustered that he can’t think of anything to say other than “I can’t believe I’m driving a Ferrari Dino”. That being said it is an absolutely gorgeous car. I had the pleasure of doing a service on a 248 GT about five years ago. The owner has had it 25 years and bought it for $50,000. It’s a $400,000 example now. Under 40,000 miles and all original interior, paint and one engine overhaul to upgrade the valve seats and such for unleaded fuel. Always one of my favorites.

" oh,what a lucky man he was"- see if you can guess the musical reference. A lucky man indeed. Such a sweet sounding Dino, glad your boyhood hero turned out to be as good as you imagined. I saw and heard a red Dino 30 years ago at Continental Car Services in Wellington,N.Z. In for a service,$20.000 thankyou, that was a lot back then. The Dino engine was also the donor for the Lancia Stratos, another Icon.

My cousin was a consultant at the Royal Marsden in the early days of bone marrow transplants. He had a silver 246GT and I remember him doing 110mph towards Tonbridge when I spotted a motorcycle cop on a bridge overlooking the road and we slowed down. Cousin then went into the private sector abroad. The 246 was left stored in Blighty and some lucky git got to take it out every so often for a drive. He eventually sold it and had various other exotica like a Countach etc after that down under.
This and the DBS IIRC were the stars of the Persuaders TV show and I was always torn between Tony Curtis and the Dino and Roger Moore with the Aston. Glad you enjoyed your drive Mr Ped!

Ooh, my favourite little Ferrari, swoopy lines, the interior and that engine sound!!! 🤤🤤. Oh and one thing, don't close the door by pulling on the door pocket, it will break in time to come, the door handle is located below the quarter window, you slot your two fingers inside it and pull the door close😁😁

Pete you should practice closing the Dino door from the inside. Right below the vent window is a small finger hole in the door panel. The door is so lite it only takes one finger. Saves the door pouch for gloves and glasses.

How did I only come across this video now! I smiled all the way through with you on this one. I went to university in Loughborough in ‘86 and there was a Graypaul Ferrari showroom and service centre there. The Dino 246GTS was one of the first Ferrari’s I saw close up. One day walked passed and an F40 was there. Couldn’t believe it.
Will never afford one, but the 246 will always be my favourite.

Back in my on the spanners days a customer owned one. He used it to commute two miles to his office. Luckily this caused the plugs to fowl triggering a misfire. Cleaning the plugs only worked for a day or so. I became forced to take it for a forty miles round trip on rural A roads. I think it’s now safe to admit that I did stretch the speed limit little.

Pete, Ferrari were famous for their v12’s not v8’s at the time. Additionally, if you need to hold it in third to stop it jumping out then the gearbox needs an overhaul!!

This was my dream car as a child too.
My dad took me to the motor show for the very first time when i was 12 years old in 1970, it was at earls court.
I saw this in the metal for the first time and was in awe of the design. I've not seen another one in the metal since then.
Your video brought back my childhood memory, I shared the emotional moment of your drive, the thrill & excitement on your beaming face duplicates my feelings about this iconic masterpiece.
Just to sit in one would be special for me, let alone actually drive one. You are very priviliged to have had such an opportunity to be able to share your experience.
This has been truly the most enjoyable of your videos for me.

Glad u enjoyed the Dino :) - Bit of a contrast to my Dino drive! - I was cycling through town when I saw my friend's red Dino kerbside outside a corner shop, so stopped to say Hi - He smiled, threw some keys at me and said ' race you back to my place"!' - Yep, the keys had a ferrari fob....so I wasted no time in jumping into the Dino and driving off!
Not sure what bystanders must have thought.....turn up on a £20 pushbike and drive off in a Dino.. :)
The revcounter was always bouncy and on a later drive with him at the helm, he extended the revs...I was cringing and encouraging him to change.... eeeeeeeee....Bang!. clatter clatter, tap, tap..stop - Smoke pouring out inlet...not a good sign
To his credit, he did strip the heads down himself, with no experience - I still have one of the bent valves from the rebuild!
ps..I got to his place first :)
    Hi Chris! :)

I used to have a 73 GT over 25 years ago and it was my first proper sports car. I didn’t fit in it all that well, it was temperamental on cold starts after a a couple weeks sitting in the garage, had a shift pattern that was one lapse away from disaster, and I spent as much time sourcing bulbs, fuses, switches, and gauges, etc. as I did driving it, but I’d give up all of my current cars to get her back!

Peter…a true story. In late 1974 during the big petrol crisis when big engined cars were impossible to sell and Jaguar were struggling to get rid of the last 50 E-Type V12’s , I encountered a Dino 246 GT stopped in an awkward position on the entrance to a junction beneath the M32. It was teatime and raining. I stopped to help and asked what was wrong. “The clutch has gone again!…I’m fed up with it!” It was a 1971 car in silver and I said I thought it looked wonderful. He then told me that I could have it for £1000…yes..£1000!!! However, I had my new Ford Capri and didn’t want a bag of trouble like that so I escaped being landed with the thing!! Hmmmm…not the best move I ever made!! I’m glad you have started your new venture….there is so much to come..well done! Richard🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Back when I was living in Johannesburg, the owner of the building I worked in had a real Ferrari Dino mounted on the wall of his office!!
Apparently he had always dreamed of owning one, but being a tall man (6 feet and 5 inches) he found that he couldn't really comfortably fir in the car. So he had the engine block stripped out and put on a plinth in the reception of his office, and mounted the rest of the car on his wall! (As you do)

Hello 'Mr Petrol Ped', lovely to see the 'Dino'. Back in the very late '60s Ferrari were experiencing problems with damage to cars on road transporters during the trip from Italy to the UK, so a number of cars were 'driven' overland. One night I arrived home at 11-30 pm having caught the last bus to find a 'light blue Ferrari Dino' parked outside my parents semi just north of Birmingham. An older friend of mine in his twenties was inside the house drinking tea and talking to my Dad, he had just taken three days to drive the Dino from Italy to the UK, it was great to be driven in a Dino back then. He had the job for 9 months driving several Ferrari's cars between Italy and England. Regards, RichardA.

I had 1973 GT in 1981. It was a bit of a nightmare to be honest and was rotting already and needed a load of money spending on it. But it was lovely and the only car my wife also loved amongst all the others I have owned. I sold it for £6k in PX for an Aston Martin DBS which was a brute. Obviously I wish I had kept it but in those days nobody really wanted them as they were not a ‘real’ Ferrari. Thanks for the video.

Popping out of 3rd means you just need to do a small adjustment to the gear linkage settings. Takes about 1/2 hour. Easily solved. Stunning Dino that sounds just as she should. If you don’t drive to the redline sometimes she will start to miss, better to drive the way she was designed - more fun that way!

Forty years ago (in my twenties) I was doing a feature survey of a property in Canberra, Australia (residence was being sold). There was a really old asbestos single garage next to the old house where the sides of the garage had split and generally seen better days. Anyhow opened the front door of the garage and there it was .. a Ferrari Dino246.

That was the least and most informative video you've ever posted. The entire thing was the childlike excitement of driving a lifelong dream car. And..... that was perfect, because I was right there with you. Truly! Thank you for taking us on the ride. I'm a good 10 years older than you and this was my first dream car. My dad was partial to the Daytona, but my brother and I loved the Dino. I have a 1962 Corvette that I adore, but it just isn't a Dino. What I wouldn't give to just have an hour behind the wheel of a Dino. Well done!!

If you don't get emotional over the chance to drive a Dino, there's something wrong! Just the view over those wings and low-slung bonnet. Magic!

Great vid by a fab “point man” - my eyesight stops me driving but I have a good mate who owns some tasty cars and your channel now too so get to live the dream!

Before COVID, I used my Dino as a daily driver. Drove her hard every day, rain or shine, and she never complained. Only issue was my Dino is a GTS. So when it rained, it leaked. I kept a supply of towels in the car. Parked outside at work. The value is just a number. I love driving home after a long day at work because no one would be on the roads at 1AM. Nice time to throw her into slides around corners. 😁

Incredibly special, you’ve made it mate. Magnum PI music a must for the 308 GTS video. I expect the obligatory moustache to feature too. 😁

Beautiful. While I was living in England many years ago I visited one of my favorite racing garages and out back was a completely burned out Dino. It was so so sad. Looks like this one isn't burnt out at all. And beautiful as well. Nice piece.

Please don't close the door (when you're sitting inside) by pulling the door's luggage compartment. It might snap off, sooner or later.
There's a one-finger space just underneath of the door's triangular ventilation window at the edge of the black trim. That's the safest way to close your Dino 246GT's door, leave alone somebody else's Dino !!!

Have your moment mate! So great to see the sheer delight on your face driving that gorgeous Dino. You have to put on a flowery shirt and put on a tash in Episode 2! Looking forward to that one already!

Wonderful. One of the very few regrets I have in life is not buying a Dino for £60k 20+ years ago, when I could. I have other wonderful cars still, but I missed out on the Dino. We'll done getting a drive.

I find with older cars re brakes: apply initial pressure, lift off v briefly , then firmly.. works much better. 👌

You don't close the door of a Dino from the inside by pulling on the storage bin! There is a finger pull located toward the front under the sill.
