Then you state: " I've had a lucid dream before. It's basically a dream where are you are aware you're dreaming and you can control what you do in it". Great explanation, thanks but the forgetting concept of awareness is not understood, anyway I great deciple of Rupert. Thanks again for this beautiful explanation.
The separate self is not the problem, nor is the dream. But the mistaken identification is, since it is the cause of suffering. Believing that our suffering is not a problem because it all appears in awareness, is spiritual bypassing which eventually doesn't bring us happiness. We are learning how to dream without forgetting we are infinite consciousness. Let's dream a dream of love, in love, as love ❤️
Infinite consciousness, or God, doesn't dream. It knows only infinite Love - perfect infinite, indivisible being. I have a philosophical or semantic problem with the separation of body and mind. For the moment let's say i can accept awareness as needing nothing. But in my opinion the mind is an extension or an expression of the body. When the body dies . . . the thoughts it had ( the mind or the ego ) also eventually dissolve. Not so ????
I wonder if anyone can help me clarify something: When he talks about doing something, coming from a place of awareness, does that mean that if you do want to do something which does come from a place of happiness and joy, but it also has aspects of coming from a separate self, should one not do it until such times as it comes from a ‘pure’ place of awareness? I can’t entirely differentiate and it sounds like until such times as we completely disassociate from the separate self, we shouldn’t do anything? I’m confused.
If the source consciousness is experiencing its creation through one vessel, do other parts of the creation perceive itself too? If there is only one vessel through which it’s creation is experienced, how are others perceiving?
Rupert was leading beautifully, he might have touched the point as in how to go about seeing ego as an illusion. But the questioner with all due respect disrupted it. 🙏 it was his right.🙏 Anyways is there any specific session where he asusual puts his best efforts that pushes you to self contemplate to realise the ego as an illusion very much like snake in a rope.?
Developing strength of awareness is gaining the ability to think thoughts and experience perception without losing self-awareness. - Ramana Maharishi. Same as learning to dream lucidly.
When he says: "when 'we' forget..." it must be referring to infinite consciousness forgetting, therefore if forgetting is a problem then the problem is with consciousness, on the other hand, if forgetting is not a problem, then that we forget and think of problems and things we do that are wrong even when just judged by us, we should not try to get rid or solve or trying remember what we forgot, as forgetting is natural and nothing wrong or in need of remembering. this is crucial in order to to cast away Rupert's approach of non duality as contradictory. by the way, all non dual teachings end up with this contradiction. In any case, if one blames the apparent self and not consciousness, still have to deal with the second part of my clarification. my conclusion is that consciousness, although atemporal and at rest, in its activity is lacking the power over the problems that our apparent self meets daily. the proof of this lack is that its activity in duality we have experienced this very lack of not corresponding to what is, surely, the problem should not be found in the apparent self, as it is just a production of awareness in whatever form it takes. Unless you make a distinction between ourselves as awareness and God as the Awareness of God, we will miss the additional life of God, which is the power that we lack, shown in His expression in Jesus, which by the Spirit make us partake of the life that overcame evil in duality including his body in physical resurrection.
I’ve always wondered why the ego is a problem, isn’t it part of who we are. Like to keep my ego fulfilled up to a certain point is actually in a way fulfilling my desires, so when we love someone who doesn’t love us back they say it’s your ego who’s getting hurt and I don’t see this as a reason for not abandoning my ego to be able to stop the hurt it’s causing me because I do believe it is a part of what makes me who I am.
shaarad pandey yeah but then this is according to the standards you have put to accept what is part of you and what it isn’t. I’ve studied a lot about Buddhism and I think I struggled to accept Buddha’s idea about the non self it’s the same idea that Rupert addresses in his videos that of which you cannot find (in this case it’s the “I”). The Buddha believes that the self should not age and should be consistent over time and also it should have control over things and based on these standards non of your consciousness, ego etc.. can be the self. However, I’m still not convinced about choosing those standards in the first place.
I think hes saying preferably identifying with consciousness/awareness results in a quieting of ego/thoughts/hurt eventually and more fully because they are recognized as transient. Not suppressing or pushing back on ego and hurt, just not identifying with it as the real/profound/us. But i personally dont yet see how the goal of living in the now without thought isnt ego suppression and avoidance. I think he teaches any active suppression of thought or ego will fail because that effort is also thought and ego. Better to just recognize them for what they are, transient (somewhat devalue), wait for them to change, focus elsewhere. New, not sure
It is not part of who we are. We are that which perceives the ego. How can that which is perceiving ego, be ego? It is impossible. Ego is what we believe our body-mind to be. Once we believe it is something, other than the veichle through which the universe is experiencing itself, we live through eyes of fear, doubt, delusion, anxiety, depression, separateness. Ego itself is merely a thought, it is coming and going, it is not true, it is not eternal, it is not our true nature. It is merely another phenomenon appearing within the consciousness that you are. You can't say that it is a "part" of you, because it is not, it appears within you, but it is not you or a part of you. When we mistake ourselves to be the ego, or when we mistake the ego to exist, we forget that in fact it is merely an appearance within consciousness, and we take it seriously, we try and protect it, we try and fulfill it. In truth, you see that the ego merely appears within consciousness, it is not real, so we don't take it seriously, we don't protect it because we do not identify as it, and we do not care for any phenomenon appearing within consciousness, and we don't try and fulfill it because we see that it is merely an appearance within consciousness, it is not an entity to be fulfilled, it is just a temporary idea which has no actual existence, therefore we do not try and fulfill it, we see that it is completely illusory and not to be taken as truth at all. We are that without which ego can't exist. We can exist without ego, pure consciousness can exist without ego, but ego can't appear without the consciousness in which it appears. The ego relies on the consciousness to be, the consciousness does not rely on the ego to be.
@@shaaradpandey5546 Thoughts don't need to stop coming, they can come, most importantly you must not identify as these thoughts. There is no problem with thoughts appearing, the problem is when we identify ourselves as these thoughts, we believe we are the ones thinking them, and we believe they are the truth. Thoughts are not generated from the ego, they simply appear within consciousness. Ego itself is just a thought.
Yes . Not believing God is the serious problem of mankind in this earth . A person make himself ill by resentment and it produce a sense of guilt , fear and anxiety . The origin of all these deviations, are the results of misinformed consciences. Simply living without any further expectations in life , that continually spoiling the thoughts and quickly falls in to subjugation ,the root of slavery. So faith in God is an essential form of strength and courage that take him to life that produces sweetest fruits. Thank you.
When we 'fall' asleep and dream, we 'fall' asleep to our conscious self or forget ourself and 'fall' into identification with the main character of the dream. Then as we wake up from the dream to our conscious self or remember ourself we recognize that we were dreaming. We do the same thing in the waking state. We 'fall' asleep to our eternal that I am, forget ourself, and become identified with some temporal portion of our experience, of what I am as an embodied human being and/or who I am, which changes with time, place and circumstance. When we wake up and remember ourself, our true eternal nature as that I am, we transition from the compulsive reactivity of the caterpillar to the conscious responsivity of the butterfly.
Meditation. :) The separate self (i.e Jane) is a constructed self through thoughts and feelings.... In the absense of thought we feel more like our "true self" i.e Mary...... Meditation helps to silence thoughts and therefore help you feel more like Mary...

inner light When you watch a movie do you ever become so engrossed in the film that you forget you are watching people pretending to be other people being told what to say by writers and moved around by directors. Do you have emotional reactions to the storyline and the characters plight? Same with awareness. It is so engrossed in the story of ‘my life’ that it believes it is the character in its own movie. It has forgotten it’s the actor.
Funny, after I heard that analogy of marry and Jane, I dreamt that I was in a cafeteria of nothing but me’s!!! I proceeded to say, “it’s like a bunch of ‘doppelgänger’s on the outside” perhaps I’m taking this analogy further, all of the “other” selves in the dream are just MARY.
Ego is a "problem," only if it is regarded as a sum total of the Self. The greatest atrocities of human history have been perpetrated in a quest for the immortality of the ego, which is a transient illusion.

Gold!
Rupert was leading beautifully, he might have touched the point as in how to go about seeing ego as an illusion. But the questioner with all due respect disrupted it. 🙏 it was his right.🙏
Anyways is there any specific session where he asusual puts his best efforts that pushes you to self contemplate to realise the ego as an illusion very much like snake in a rope.?
@@shaaradpandey5546 Who cares about thoughtlessness? That is not important.
What can Jane do to help Mary live a lucid dream?
So the separate self suffers because it sees itself as an entity and not an activity.
So what now then?
Meditation. :) The separate self (i.e Jane) is a constructed self through thoughts and feelings.... In the absense of thought we feel more like our "true self" i.e Mary...... Meditation helps to silence thoughts and therefore help you feel more like Mary...
Meditation or you can also practice mindfulness/presense/awareness. Once you become aware of your thoughts the illusion of being Jane fades away....
yeah what now then? that's what ego said.
Eric Cartman search for happiness.
Once you know the precise reason why you find yourself experiencing this world of LIMITATION, you will know that you are here for one reason and one reason only: to overcome the ego. And you will know exactly how this is accomplished. Want the greatest secret in this entire Universe? The Meaning of Life? I've got it. Seek and ye shall find.....
5:44 made this mind go Oh!
6.43.."when we forget we are temporary modulations.."Why forgetting happens?
Does it make any sense to ask this question?
inner light When you watch a movie do you ever become so engrossed in the film that you forget you are watching people pretending to be other people being told what to say by writers and moved around by directors.
I’m confused. So is it a play of consciousness or not?
What if you are suffering because of chronic physical pain but you understand that it is all a play in consciousness? Is happiness possible then?
Good question
Ego is a "problem," only if it is regarded as a sum total of the Self. The greatest atrocities of human history have been perpetrated in a quest for the immortality of the ego, which is a transient illusion.
Very good. When you mistake Ego for yourself.
I think I just broke myself.... how do I go back?
Wow. Wow. Wow.
