      I've had a lucid dream before. It's basically a dream where you are aware you're dreaming and you can control what you do in it.
      When I had the lucid dream, I wanted to fly, so I flew. But if I became to aware that i was dreaming, i would start to wake up, so i tried to maintain semi conscious in the dream.

      @@ayofrtho7014 Hello Friend: Thank you for your response. I just do not understand this. First of all, you have stated that "... conscious means I'm awake and unconscious means I'm asleep. Then you state: " I've had a lucid dream before. It's basically a dream where are you are aware you're dreaming and you can control what you do in it".
      If you are aware of your dream as you state - how can awareness arise in a state when you are asleep which by your statement equates with unconsciousness. (assuming that you believe that dream state occurs in your sleep). This potentially could mean awareness can exist when you are unconscious, which is an impossibility. (Also, please note that I have only quoted you. Whether I agree with your statements or not, may not be relevant in this response of mine). Thank you.

      Instead of just accepting what someone says how about we reserve some space to what is really happening. Unbelievable cruelties and sufferings take place across all forms of life every moment. Countless life forms show up only to be eaten alive screaming in pain from the top of their lungs to no avail. Someone with his judeo- Christian beliefs tells you it's all God' s creation but God is all good and loving. Someone with his non- dual beliefs tells you it's all eternally peaceful loving awareness just dreaming to show off it's creativity. REALLY? Is it really the case? We know from experience even a selfish ego would not wish such nightmares on anybody let alone An infinitely peaceful being whose very nature is peace and love and which also has absolutely nothing to gain from this madness play because it is already eternally, and infinitely fulfilled? REALLY? ARE WE SURE? Could it be that there is a blind force of ignorance and desire which is pushing all life forms out into existence regardless of its consequences? No? When something intuitively doesn't sound right to the heart usually there's an error in the presentation or the one doing the presentation. There's a famous quote by a great mind of philosophy "The history of life is the history of suffering". I think we should all reserve some space before accepting another' s conclusion until fully confirmed for ourselves without error. That much we owe to ourselves and to countless life forms that are screaming somewhere even at this moment.

      But what good or purpose would that do for society? Society is built on practical thinking

Exactly what happen when a “clown” well trained on spiritual path claims the teachings to perpetrate himself, keeping suffering in apparent existence, but without touching it nor embracing it. ...empty and open space knows no resistance, only an object in it can be resistant. @@markimel4947 It is materialistic analogy. It implies that mind is thinking about mind. In spirituality it is called as introspection. Introspection do happen many times, but how will you define consciousness then which enable introspection. In your analogy eternal, infinite, unchanging consciousness is reducible to constantly flickering introspection by the mind on the mind. This further imply that this flickering of mind is the emergent property of brain, which is technically speaking correct. But in this process you negate the existence of consciousness altogether. This is the Buddhist way. It gives you only partial depiction of reality but not whole nondual picture of existence. Anyway, congratulations!! you are the new Buddha 😂👍

    We have to understand that suffering is not the result of loosing a job or have a sickness or to loose a loved one.This is pain. Suffering is the result of the identification with the one who lost the job, or the one one who is sick etc. Once we recognize that this one does not exist, then suffering ends, but pain remain. In that way, the body mind complex will be able to cope more efficiently with the pain and even be able to be at peace in the middle of the painful circumstances generated with our present situation.

      Watch out for the cult of personality. Jesus Christ didn't want anyone to worship him. THAT is the cult of personality: the church of satan. Look at your country today and you see what the cult of personality does. DESTRUCTION: whether the subject of that cult of personality is a perfect man who has identified himself with Christ, or a buffoon who identifies solely with the ego and is therefore an anti-Christ. Want the greatest secret in this Universe of limitation? The reason why you are experiencing it? Will you accept it if it doesn't come from a personality that you can elevate in your mind because you mistake man for meaning? Will you accept it from outside of the cult of personality? Truth is where you find it - not where you WANT to find it. I found it. Seek and ye shall find......

    Suffering without resistance equals happiness, but not necessarily a smile. Happiness can be a very confusing word when the separate self tries to know what it is. From the point of view of suffering, happiness may almost feel like an insult. Perhaps the word pain is a less confusing description than happiness. It accommodates what is felt without judging it as good or bad, and leaves room for 'healing'.

    I have a philosophical or semantic problem with the separation of body and mind. For the moment let's say i can accept awareness as needing nothing. But in my opinion the mind is an extension or an expression of the body. When the body dies . . . the thoughts it had ( the mind or the ego ) also eventually dissolve. Not so ????

    Dear Mr. Spira: if you could answer in one of your future videos: If awareness/consciousness is at peace, what is it manifesting for (Is it manifesting?)? Why doesn't it lay at peace, in happiness? That very push ( to know itself through manifestation doesn't demonstrate a lack of that very peace?

    When he says: "when 'we' forget..." it must be referring to infinite consciousness forgetting, therefore if forgetting is a problem then the problem is with consciousness, on the other hand, if forgetting is not a problem, then that we forget and think of problems and things we do that are wrong even when just judged by us, we should not try to get rid or solve or trying remember what we forgot, as forgetting is natural and nothing wrong or in need of remembering. this is crucial in order to to cast away Rupert's approach of non duality as contradictory. by the way, all non dual teachings end up with this contradiction. In any case, if one blames the apparent self and not consciousness, still have to deal with the second part of my clarification. my conclusion is that consciousness, although atemporal and at rest, in its activity is lacking the power over the problems that our apparent self meets daily. the proof of this lack is that its activity in duality we have experienced this very lack of not corresponding to what is, surely, the problem should not be found in the apparent self, as it is just a production of awareness in whatever form it takes. Unless you make a distinction between ourselves as awareness and God as the Awareness of God, we will miss the additional life of God, which is the power that we lack, shown in His expression in Jesus, which by the Spirit make us partake of the life that overcame evil in duality including his body in physical resurrection.

    When we 'fall' asleep and dream, we 'fall' asleep to our conscious self or forget ourself and 'fall' into identification with the main character of the dream. Then as we wake up from the dream to our conscious self or remember ourself we recognize that we were dreaming. We do the same thing in the waking state. We 'fall' asleep to our eternal that I am, forget ourself, and become identified with some temporal portion of our experience, of what I am as an embodied human being and/or who I am, which changes with time, place and circumstance. When we wake up and remember ourself, our true eternal nature as that I am, we transition from the compulsive reactivity of the caterpillar to the conscious responsivity of the butterfly.

    so clear.. the dreamer needs the dream to exist, and the dream is unreal,, So the dreamer does not exist without the unreal dream,, makes that the dreamer unreal? is there anything left other than fantasy? nothing exists.. only mindstuff.. free! you are free! aways were free! now you feel it..> it is felt,, by? ? haha the awareness is aware of its own freedom.

    Rupert was leading beautifully, he might have touched the point as in how to go about seeing ego as an illusion. But the questioner with all due respect disrupted it. 🙏 it was his right.🙏
    Anyways is there any specific session where he asusual puts his best efforts that pushes you to self contemplate to realise the ego as an illusion very much like snake in a rope.?

    Yes . Not believing God is the serious problem of mankind in this earth . A person make himself ill by resentment and it produce a sense of guilt , fear and anxiety . The origin of all these deviations, are the results of misinformed consciences. Simply living without any further expectations in life , that continually spoiling the thoughts and quickly falls in to subjugation ,the root of slavery. So faith in God is an essential form of strength and courage that take him to life that produces sweetest fruits. Thank you.

    I wonder if anyone can help me clarify something:
    When he talks about doing something, coming from a place of awareness, does that mean that if you do want to do something which does come from a place of happiness and joy, but it also has aspects of coming from a separate self, should one not do it until such times as it comes from a ‘pure’ place of awareness? I can’t entirely differentiate and it sounds like until such times as we completely disassociate from the separate self, we shouldn’t do anything? I’m confused.

  • @wilma8326
    @wilma8326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The separate self is not the problem, nor is the dream. But the mistaken identification is, since it is the cause of suffering. Believing that our suffering is not a problem because it all appears in awareness, is spiritual bypassing which eventually doesn't bring us happiness.
    We are learning how to dream without forgetting we are infinite consciousness. Let's dream a dream of love, in love, as love ❤️

      Infinite consciousness, or God, doesn't dream. It knows only infinite Love - perfect infinite, indivisible being.
      The dream and dreamer are one and the same and arise only from the one belief in objectivity. It is a machine thought that spins out an endless narrative, and its "goal" or "intent" is to perpetuate itself by obscuring the everpresent Reality of divine Mind. It is "the one lie and liar". It can never make matter, minds, or lives. It can only spin out unreal data.

      Yes. And ultimately we are learning not to have these painful dreams by not DESIRING them. Once you know the reason why you find yourself experiencing this world of LIMITATION, you know that you are here for one reason and one reason only: to overcome the ego by overcoming the desire that "created" the ego. So the separate self suffers because it sees itself as an entity and not an activity.
    So what now then?

    • @monksee
      @monksee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meditation. :) The separate self (i.e Jane) is a constructed self through thoughts and feelings.... In the absense of thought we feel more like our "true self" i.e Mary...... Meditation helps to silence thoughts and therefore help you feel more like Mary...

    • @monksee

      Meditation or you can also practice mindfulness/presense/awareness. Once you become aware of your thoughts the illusion of being Jane fades away....

    Funny, after I heard that analogy of marry and Jane, I dreamt that I was in a cafeteria of nothing but me’s!!! I proceeded to say, “it’s like a bunch of ‘doppelgänger’s on the outside” perhaps I’m taking this analogy further, all of the “other” selves in the dream are just MARY.

    Ego is a "problem," only if it is regarded as a sum total of the Self. The greatest atrocities of human history have been perpetrated in a quest for the immortality of the ego, which is a transient illusion.
