  • The King has made a poignant return to public-facing duties with a visit to a cancer treatment centre and the announcement that he is now patron of Cancer Research UK.
    #king #royal #cancer
Following months of treatment for the illness, he looked enthusiastic as he plunged back into his public Royal duties alongside Queen Camilla after his doctors advised he was able to do so in a cautious return.
It was a vulnerable and very human moment from the King about a disease that affects not only him and the Princess of Wales, but more than three million people in the country.
While there are still no plans for Charles to confirm what type of cancer he has, or the details of his medical procedures, this won’t stop him from raising further awareness of it as one of his top working priorities, known as the “five Cs”. The King and his aides already plan his public working life in line with his chosen causes of “climate, community, culture and Commonwealth” and sources have confirmed that they will now add “cancer” to this list.

Does it really have to take a disease of their own before politicians start to take medical research and medical care more seriously?

it is impressive to go back to work, i feel for the people with cancer that dont have their family's future financially secure knowing the challenge and potential outcome ahead. something our king wouldnt necessarily fully understand.

Coverage of British Royal family cracks me up. The newly minted King is still the same person he alwys was, pretty much a jerk.
