The part at the end is so good because ryus super goes through his own fireball. Great patience by not throwing fireballs, he knew daigo was waiting to do super
@BlueEye096 It's definitely not the most watchable, but most would say it required a higher amount of knowledge about spacing and the little things (like chip damage) then SF4. Although I'm pretty sure 3S still takes the cake for "most difficult to master" because of the parry system.
I know what Ryu is SUPPOSED to be saying when he does a Tatsu, but for the life of me I cannot hear him saying that- I hear "tat tat tat ta ratat!" ... is it just me? Seriously.
@Greendragonexcom I actually personally find the zoning game fascinating. This match shows the efficiency and ruthlessness of Daigo's use of hadokens really well. He's basically got his opponent locked down in the corner within about 4 seconds of the first round starting and just forces his way in. It's also a good match to show off how good Daigo's footsies are; how good he is at judging the range of all his normals etc. And the very end of round 2 is awesome. Classic clutch Daigo play.
dude this game is so perfected it's like playing a game of chess. only when you fully understand that will you realize why the game and most street fighter games go on far past prime.
some of the matches are boring BUT they are still very skilled players. All in all in some of the tougher matches when it looks like they would have lost they ( daigo, mago , justin or any pro) pull of tricks that few people would try and win a fight. Those moments are the best.
Oh yes - yes, it does. Even though I'm sure the two would never disrespect each other in public, when they sit down next to each other to play a match nowadays, you can just 'feel' the animosity between the two. The only reason I'd say something like this anyway is simply because it's true - Alex Valle is another master street fighter, and it's just my opinion anyway. :)
More 81 people who are annoyed by constant fireballs. I count myself among them, to be fair. And yes, I know it's a valid/the best way to play, but god is it tedious.
@ANormalGuy Diago was fairly behind in HP in that last battle. He made a comeback and JUST took his opponents HP down enough below his own as time ran out. Thus, he won the battle, and match.
thank you. And fyi, competing against pros is SO much different the watching them. I played a casual against nki (one of the best chun-li players in america) and i got my taint handed to me when i was using my best guy (boxer). I didn't even know he was nki till some said his name and he said "ya, im nki" and i was like "YOUR NKI?!!?!" (he nodded in response) >.
@MCLos It's kinda natural to fight back like that. This guy is only going to win if you don't fight fire with fire. Its like you want to win,but he is only using everything he has to win. You don't really have much of a choice if you plan on winning.
1: Just did nothing out of desperation. He was ahead on life. 2: Justin was baited into the super. Daigo let Justin power up his bar, stayed out of range of normal attacks, but in range of the super. 3: You can not parry when the screen is frozen. To parry it at all is VERY difficult. 4: Air parry mid super. 5: Chained that into a combo. And of course that is all in front of a large crowd, at a big event. Evo moment #37 will be talked about as long as any one cares about the game.
I think what the great seth killian said in an interview, very much applies. He said something like : " You can keep spamming fireballs and win and its perfectly fine, but if we see you in person theres no telling whether we're gonna break your arm or not."
the ryu in red with the black head band, thats his colors. In the early years, he used the black gi and yellow band ryu. His other characters colors are white gi ken, blue and pink boxer, blue geif and some more.
your right you cant parry when the screen is frozen but if your are in forward animation befor the screen is frozen then you can parry I do this to my friend every know and then but it hard because you kind of have to predict when will they relase it
I like to play offensively myself, but I hunker down and turtle when I need to. I usually play Balrog, and I have to readjust when I'm playing a Zangief - rushdowns are nowhere near as safe against him and his damn lariat. The EX Upper works great though for going through it.
I think most of us have at least once experienced a fireball spamming jerk in our SF careers . Still, its best to formulate a strategy for these situations- it can no doubt be frustrating to be in the situation.
I think it takes either a more serious gamer or at least more serious street fighter fan to look at fireballs or any other part of the game that might seem cheap or dull as a small part in the biggest aspect of the game, strategy. Street fighter is very chess like in game play, and can be lack-luster compared to other faster paced games. But if you're a nerd like me who likes to read strategy guides for fighting games, then matches like these are actually exciting :P
If you want to see Daigo's real miracle... look up his Evo 2k4(?) 3rd Strike win where he full parries Chun Li's super with only a sliver of health left to win the round... it's awesome.
I think what's going is that, since this is a mirror match, Daigo has to be less aggressive and has to instead watch and learn his opponent's pattern. Only then can he start fighting back. Last round though, he almost waited too long.
These fights *are* boring sometimes, but most real life fights between people who really know what they are doing are dull, too, because the cost of failure is so high. Same thing in a tournament with money on the line; it's all substance, no flash, and careful defense.
Hold on a sec... The 2008 winner of Super Turbo for the Evolution World fighting game tournament was John Choi. An American! Americans are great at fighting games too, its just that the fighting game community isn't taken as seriously in America as its Japanese counterpart. But no one honestly gives a shit about those shoryu spamming sbl ken scrubs. Here is a 'pro' tip. Once you knock down, get close, block shoryu, then do a combo that ends in knockdown. Repeat until victory.
@Ultima64 So you're saying the quarter circle forward + punch is exclusive to one character to do a fireball? Sorry Ryu, Ken, Akuma and whatever Ryu+Ken's master is, that move only works for one person. Not to mention the breakers in Mortal Kombat, the 15+ hit combos that all require a sequence of different inputs. There's zoning to consider in Mortal Kombat as well, the X ray attacks. I've played both online and both are difficult in their own manner.
you didn't see all his videos,he lost against momochi and kiyo quite a few times,as you can clearly see daigo only relies on fireballs, while momochi and kiyo are technical when fighting.
Every time I see Daigo playing, I think: nothing is impossible in the wolrd games! Seriously... Most videos of him show something like "daigo lost and won 1 round... cant get any hit or will lose... and... CHAZZZZAAAAMMM!!! he defeats the other guy that was full hp... DAMN!!!! Daigo ownz!
ok, im going to expand the tier list to be more fair. (in order) O. Sagat, Dhalsim, Boxer(Balrog/M. Bison), Claw (Vega/Balrog), Chun-li, Ryu, Dictator (M. Bison/Vega) Guile, Dee Jay, Ken/O. Ken, Fei Long, E. Honda, Blanka, Zangief, O. T. Hawk, Cammy. Its debatable where some people should be, and some people at the bottom are better against some people at the top (E. Honda has a large advantage vs Dic) and who actually wins the tournaments.
that overhead did the damage of a freaking super lmao
Daigo has the BEST come backs of all TIME!!
I love how the moon moves with the clouds.
The part at the end is so good because ryus super goes through his own fireball. Great patience by not throwing fireballs, he knew daigo was waiting to do super
Daigo has to be the undisputed champion, for those who dont understand SF it can be boring but players of the game know how good Daigo is.
@BlueEye096 It's definitely not the most watchable, but most would say it required a higher amount of knowledge about spacing and the little things (like chip damage) then SF4. Although I'm pretty sure 3S still takes the cake for "most difficult to master" because of the parry system.
ryu wins because the match up is 6-4 in Ryu's Favor
lol i thought their pictures in the top corners were them in real time. i was like, damn why do they play so still? lmao ..........ah good times
Back on topic from all these arguments,
yet another Daigo moment :D
I know what Ryu is SUPPOSED to be saying when he does a Tatsu, but for the life of me I cannot hear him saying that- I hear "tat tat tat ta ratat!"
... is it just me? Seriously.
that last move was funny, super into downward punch
@Greendragonexcom I actually personally find the zoning game fascinating. This match shows the efficiency and ruthlessness of Daigo's use of hadokens really well. He's basically got his opponent locked down in the corner within about 4 seconds of the first round starting and just forces his way in. That Collarbone Breaker gave him a win, incredible :D
Holy shit that finish was intense!
dude this game is so perfected it's like playing a game of chess.
only when you fully understand that will you realize why the game and most street fighter games go on far past prime.
i love this game. ryu says "hazooken!" lol. man such a classic.
Good sacrifice of the super at the end so he could hit him!
@Svenbotuser totally agree. people that think fireballs are cheap can't understand the concept of using them as a far-range poke.
So patient, the first fight he was just standing there.
some of the matches are boring BUT they are still very skilled players. All in all in some of the tougher matches when it looks like they would have lost they ( daigo, mago , justin or any pro) pull of tricks that few people would try and win a fight. Those moments are the best.
Dang he's the legend of legends.
I'm so glad Street Fighter hired a new announcer...
Good to see this in my recommended ones.
Oh yes - yes, it does. Even though I'm sure the two would never disrespect each other in public, when they sit down next to each other to play a match nowadays, you can just 'feel' the animosity between the two. wow that last second overhead won him the round lol
They really stay still when they fight.
Is picture :)

They already have.
Daigo is like, Capcom's poster child.
It's nice reading the years old salty ass comments from individuals that don't even compete.
So TH-cam recommendations got you too huh
Ken - "Ryu can you ease off the Hadoken's a little bit, really."
Ryu - "SHORRRE YOU KEN!"
thanks, yeah i guess i can see daigo in this vid when you compare the two and put this 1 full screen. never saw him play like that.
no wayy just lucky there simply as there they were both highly skilled
1: Just did nothing out of desperation. He was ahead on life.
2: Justin was baited into the super. Daigo let Justin power up his bar, stayed out of range of normal attacks, but in range of the super.
3: You can not parry when the screen is frozen. To parry it at all is VERY difficult.

Ah a new challenger has appeared in the world of Street Fighter lol Alpha 3 is rather hard to be honest but lots of fun too.
I think what the great seth killian said in an interview, very much applies. He said something like : " You can keep spamming fireballs and win and its perfectly fine, but if we see you in person theres no telling whether we're gonna break your arm or not."
Collar.
Bone.
Breaker.
Wow.
My main is boxer, cause ill try to get as close as possible, in a crazy, almost berserk, rush down. Also i like to headbutt people!
LOL the no expression at the end was GODLIKE.
"There's no such thing as luck on the battlefield." - The Boss
Hello
Haha, it doesn't surprise me, that and Killer Instinct !
hahahahaha thats not at all the finish i was expecting. slick shit from the beast
That's exactly why you shouldn't go into full retreat mode just because there is a possibility you could get a time out victory
Daigo beat a wall in a staring contest.
Wow. High level play is so exciting....
i have played them, and just like any other fighting game they have character tiers.
Daigo sure loves his shotos
jesus christ that overhead punch took off a lot
Look how serious the Hadouken concentration is... not moving an inch of their face! 😂
Ultra should be like that in SSF4...instant, no fucking image stopping so the oppenent know when your doing it..
the ryu in red with the black head band, thats his colors. In the early years, he used the black gi and yellow band ryu. His other characters colors are white gi ken, blue and pink boxer, blue geif and some more.
..thats probably one of the smartest things someones said on this video
your right you cant parry when the screen is frozen but if your are in forward animation befor the screen is frozen then you can parry I do this to my friend every know and then but it hard because you kind of have to predict when will they relase it

It's funny how even though Daigo won by the tiniest amount of health, Ryu's body is completely pristine at the end screen.
I think most of us have at least once experienced a fireball spamming jerk in our SF careers .

consider the Hadouken like a jab... it sets the offence and is a defense tool also
@sanoichiro
You extract them down and you learn from them piece by piece and when you finally learn them they're not all that good or they are.
It is the way he did it. On that note, parrying Chun-Li's super isn't an easy job at all.
@sharpienoob it's pretty common try to search on ebay or something.
Daigo is the master of poker face
damn, clever play for the advancing medium.
I think what's going is that, since this is a mirror match, Daigo has to be less aggressive and has to instead watch and learn his opponent's pattern. Only then can he start fighting back. Last round though, he almost waited too long.
dude, its like a sport to them
These fights *are* boring sometimes, but most real life fights between people who really know what they are doing are dull, too, because the cost of failure is so high. Same thing in a tournament with money on the line; it's all substance, no flash, and careful defense.
lol epic come back at the end.... also i like the way they say ryu wins!
yu weens!
P sure they’re saying you win
Hold on a sec... The 2008 winner of Super Turbo for the Evolution World fighting game tournament was John Choi. An American! Americans are great at fighting games too, its just that the fighting game community isn't taken as seriously in America as its Japanese counterpart.

I know. Just making fun of the version of this street fighter. lol
man i would be really pissed if i lost a tournament like that
It makes dem dust loops and FRCs and is not afraid of anything
if the guy jump attacks and you block, you have the grab advantage.
...He's tricky, that Daigo boy...
aaah the good ol' days of SFII when spamming hadouken is the best strategy XD
@Ultima64 So you're saying the quarter circle forward + punch is exclusive to one character to do a fireball? attacking the person rather than the issue is a great way to show immaturity
WoW Fuck water being transformed into wine... LOOK AT THAT WIN.
I love how Daigo fakes the super a couple of times.
I actually thought the same thing
then I noticed they are only photos XD
@alxfreeman
Mortal Kombat 4 for the Playstation 3
wow hes so cool about pulling a miracle like that, if it was me i wouldve been like HELLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHH BICH!!!!
they're vid portraits. the players do that just to confuse people. not moving also saves on file space.
Its a shame that ryu lost. I had high hopes that ryu was gonna win.
@memokk daigo is the guy doing the hadokens and the shoryukens and the kicking and punching and stuff
Playing styles differ from game to game, and character to character
thats because the chip didnt take effect for the super yet, so he just added.
you didn't see all his videos,he lost against momochi and kiyo quite a few times,as you can clearly see daigo only relies on fireballs, while momochi and kiyo are technical when fighting.
Random damage overhead ftw.
Don't get me started about 'The Beast'. I was talking about Choi Boy anyway.
DAMN!!!! Daigo ownz!
This was a huge finish.
Holy shit u saw Daigo expression wen he lost the second round,,,,,epic
ok, im going to expand the tier list to be more fair. (in order) O. Sagat, Dhalsim, Boxer(Balrog/M. Bison), Claw (Vega/Balrog), Chun-li, Ryu, Dictator (M. Bison/Vega) Guile, Dee Jay, Ken/O. yeah. he got real lucky.
Might be why he has the noise cancelling headphones.
That's the strongest overhead ever lol
Metal Gear Solid 3, my friend.
