The character you SHOULD play is the character you LIKE playing. Daigo, who is everyone's hero, has proven that a mid tier character (Ken) can own. Tiers are NOT a replacement for player skill; they simply represent the cold mathematics behind the characters and which one's numbers add up higher. The only time tiers really become a true factor is when player skill is high and is equal.
Daigo has a superb sense of spacing. I had no idea he was THIS good. And yeah, everyone's seen the parry thing he does, wow, wish I could play against him or be there chanting "HEYS" when Yun was doing his juggles. I learned much just by watching this_^)
K.O's Yun was showing that famous Hong Kong style (of course K.O is Japanese). Daigo is still my favourite Street Fighter player though. He is brilliant to watch.
This is by far, the best fight I have seen on all of TH-cam. It is the most intense and has the most action. Two very skilled players, but Daigo is better. I love watching him play, and wish more Vid's were up on him.
Overall, Daigo is the best, look at this track record dating back to '98 alpha3 tournament, dude has been playing sf/2d games for a while, winning some big tournaments getting top 3 finishes on many other tourneys. Daigo is well known throughout the U.S, europe, and asia.
yes I agree with u on that stretchypants...yun is one of the hardest characters to develope. I would never to even think I would end up playing yun. I'm usually a Ryu player. Yun can be fun at times. Took me awhile to develope him. KO was my inspiration and I respect him for that.
Okay, here's the summary: The tiers represent how much work it takes to win with that character. The higher they are on the list, the less work it takes to win because the game provides more tools for them in one way or another. That's the simplest way I can make it.
I agree, they really made fireballs toned down but they have their uses for baiting people. Ex fireballs are a lot more useful I think you'll agree. A hadouken at point blank feels like a slap to the face now ;p
Daigo came from losers bracket so he had to win two series to win tournament. Daigo clearly outmatched KO in first series, but he still needed to win one more series to win tournament. KO was from winners so he only needed to beat Daigo in only one series to win it all. Look it up Daigo lost to KO in both evo tournaments that KO participated in. Daigo will always be forever known as one of the all time greats, but i believe KO in his prime was THE greatest third strike player out there bar none.
I'll admit, Daigo had a great winning streak at first. but I BELIEVE, he got cocky a bit, that's when he started to slip up. If you notice throughout the fight. He combos into his Shippu Jinrai ALOT with a low medium and straight into it. KO I believe saw this and used it to his advantage. If you notice through this video KO does manage to make a comeback. Until Daigo unleashed the beast.
damn he does those enders pretty nice go KO!!!! and this is an evo tourney i wonder if they still play the ps2... it seems the game speed is faster or is it just the arcade sticks they use
Another thing on tiers: It doesn't automatically mean a bottom tier character simply can't win, especially in relatively well balanced games like Super Turbo where the tier lists are rather tight. All it means is that the higher tier character has some advantages. They could be extremely minor, or they could be significant, but they are there. The further the gap between the characters on the list, the more obvious the advantages become. Tiers are a fact of life, by deisgn or otherwise.
He does start to buckle under pressure when he gets corner trapped but that's natural. He don't need work, he naturally got beat by a higher damage dealing character. Hands down, that's gotta the best Yun player I've ever scene.
It depends on what your definition of "work" is, Yun takes a lot of work to win. If you want to say that some characters are better than other characters in this game, then yes I agree totally.
I can't help but notice that in the middle rounds Daigo was taking a savage beating by juggle king Yun, but in the last match he bascially said "You're not winning..."
There is a major difference between imitation, and real performance. And that is results. If you think your better then the beast, just win in evo and proove it.
The SA 3 super is fairly weak, but it has notable advantages over SA I and II. For one it has three short meters, so it is easy to charge. You also get more ex moves. And the move can be hit confirmed from a lot of moves. It is also an effective move to super cancel into. Which is why it is his strongest super, because the meters offer much more flexibility. The supers themselves aren't grounds for picking a particular super art.
Read on the capcom forum, that after the re-release of MvC2 for PSN, they're deffinatly thinking of another remake. I dont think it's gonna be like II HD remix with the graphics / balance, just online. Rumoured though =]
3rd strike is dead. This was probably the second biggest tourney in America this year, so what/where would you suggest is more competitive? Also I'm familiar with the 3s scene (if there is any "scene" remaining anywhere) in Ohio as I live in Cincinnati. The fact remains that if you say Daigo is ass at this game you are being shortsighted and stupid as he is still better than the vast majority of US players.
Yun is awsome! There's absolutely no reason why he should not return to SFIV! The SFIII characters in general are excellent! And deserve some respect!! Except for Gill!
Has there been any SF3 matches on this level yet. I mean im not like saying anything against any other SF3 players, but this set as a whole has to be one of the most entertaining sets i've ever seen..and im personally more of an Alex fan. I personally think this was Daigo at his best..Other than Guilty Gear.. I haven't seen him perform much better and close to flawless in a game yet.
True shit. Also Daigo on a recent interview sai that that year (2k4) he wasnt playin 3S seriously so go figure. The next year he won the SBO with Nuki as partner and against Kokujin and KO so he isnt any slouch at 3S.
can someone tell me who is the top dudley player and just becuase im a fan i love this game but was kinda piss that they did not but sagat my fav charcter in here.
u dont understand. he has been defeated a couple times but wut i meant was that in the tourny's he was never put in the loser brackets that means he either won the title or second place.
BEST SKILL EVER FROM UNBELIEVABLE PLAYERS!!!! i doubt to see any other skills like this in my life! they are fast like hell, unhuman YEAH THAT's IT ... UNHUMAN
i could tell daigo was gettin tired, it happens, KO adapted and dominated once he patterned out, theres only but so many ways to suprise your opponent with ken.
I agree with what you say here: "The character you SHOULD play is the character you LIKE playing." But like many have pointed out before me, Ken is high tier, and Daigo has proved nothing. In some games, tiers are a replacement for player skill. Sure if an expert fights a novice then the tier gap can be overcome, but when both players are at the same skill level, tiers play a large part in the outcome.
You're ignorant if you refuse to acknowledge tiers. It's impossible to fully balance ANY game - characters will have edges, no matter how slight. Tiers represent who would win in a match between two characters of extremely high skill that would be able to utilize technical nuances and what not of the engine. They're not magical things or cop-outs; they're cold mathematics. They are fact by virtue of being essentially an amalgam of statistics in an 'at-a-glance' package.
Ig nore mmy last vomment please... Why does it seem that in all of daigos matches he WHoops em at teh start, then lets em beat him for a bit , and then rocks em at teh end?... in all of his matches theres that pattern.. like he COULD Whoop em at any time.. but stops for a while, anyone else notice that?
@frenzii3s that is just one tournament man. in most of the others tournaments dagio has enter in, he has place 1st or 2nd in 3rd strike, but i do agree if he goes into a tournament now for 3rd strike he would most likely not do as well because the players are much stronger now. but that doesn't mean he can't win. also with 3rd strike being less popular now there would really be no point in him working so hard at a game that nobody plays as much anymore not to say there are no loyalist around.
@monkeypower overpowered? i would say chun li was more op than yuns..yea its annoying to be juggled but wen u take into the amount of damage scale its not really all that bad.
BECAUSE THEY AREN'T. Although they do so much damage, their priority over other chars is not as much as Ken, Yun, Chun. Ken has A LOT of options. Ryu is too slow to be top tier, Akuma isn't because of him taking so much damage, Hugo doesn't because of his dash speed and the fact that most of his moves require close range that can easily be poked out of.
I don't think there's any question. This is the greatest match in SF3 history.
still is to this day dude ive watched it so many times
Daigo is the epitamy of how a person should actually get pissed off in a fighting game
God Daigo and KO Both are very impressive in this match. Well done to the both of them!
6:20 That is a stroke of genius. SF4/SSF4 will never have that...
The character you SHOULD play is the character you LIKE playing. Daigo, who is everyone's hero, has proven that a mid tier character (Ken) can own. Tiers are NOT a replacement for player skill; they simply represent the cold mathematics behind the characters and which one's numbers add up higher. Aw man this game looks so fun. Though I don't think I could ever become good enough to enjoy high level play like this.
K.O's Yun was showing that famous Hong Kong style (of course K.O is Japanese). Daigo is still my favourite Street Fighter player though. He is brilliant to watch.
i hate to b a noob but is this street fighter 2? what systems do they sell it on b/c im looking to get n2 other fighters other than doa and sc
How do You do that Jump-in attack combo that Daigo parried at 0:18? I'm trying to pick up yun.
This is by far, the best fight I have seen on all of TH-cam. It is the most intense and has the most action. Two very skilled players, but Daigo is better. I love watching him play, and wish more Vid's were up on him.

ok thx dude. i guess street figher IV is gonna b the next thing and ill probably hop onto the franchise then b/c i guess it'll hav online
that was a lot of matches, was that for a championship?
yes I agree with u on that stretchypants...yun is one of the hardest characters to develope. I would never to even think I would end up playing yun. I'm usually a Ryu player. Yun can be fun at times. Took me awhile to develope him. KO was my inspiration and I respect him for that.
Beautiful matches from both competitors.
are they playing on pc or ps2 or what and whos the best character in the game cuz ima start playing it no more ssbm for me
Does anyone know where these tournaments take place?
thx man but i found that out a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago. but i appreciate it. :)
Okay, here's the summary: The tiers represent how much work it takes to win with that character. The higher they are on the list, the less work it takes to win because the game provides more tools for them in one way or another. That's the simplest way I can make it.
Does anybody knows if there's a Channel or Website which cover the battles Live?
この時のウメハラと今の弟子犬の同キャラ対戦を心底見たい

KO loses to daigo in sbo 2005 though
The crowd going "hey hey hey hey hey heyyy" is freaking hilarious.
What do they normally say in Japanese? I've always wondered
I Love how Daigo daigo does a basic combo into a shroyuken and cancels it immediatly into a Jinrai super .. takes so much health out
I'll admit, Daigo had a great winning streak at first. but I BELIEVE, he got cocky a bit, that's when he started to slip up. If you notice throughout the fight. It seemed as he used this as a training as well. Did he just concentrate on reading his opponents move the 3rd and 4th match?
how does diago do crouching middle kick into light shoryu soo easily plz respond i need to know
he does a smaller bar to fill up...plus the combos and special moves that connect do help =D
damn he does those enders pretty nice go KO!!!! and this is an evo tourney i wonder if they still play the ps2... it seems the game speed is faster or is it just the arcade sticks they use
THANKS BRO

This is my favourite set of all time
It depends on what your definition of "work" is, Yun takes a lot of work to win.

I can't help but notice that in the middle rounds Daigo was taking a savage beating by juggle king Yun, but in the last match he bascially said "You're not winning..."
in 2004, the beast was unstoppable, but his glory days are kinda over now.
There is a major difference between imitation, and real performance. And that is results. If you think your better then the beast, just win in evo and proove it.

it came out for ps2 in Japan and US. Can find it on certain us game shops. try looking for vintage gaming.
or you can chip your ps2 and just DL it.
you know I agree but it's still fun playing games, there's time for both IMO
i like how his brother jus stands there and watches. When I first saw that i was like is he going to help?? lol
3rd strike is dead. This was probably the second biggest tourney in America this year, so what/where would you suggest is more competitive? Daigo kicks ass. Makes me wonder whether he'll play in tournaments for Street Fighter IV.
lol @ 6:23...i like how KO hit Daigo with his taunt after the match was over and the crowd gasped like it was the ultimate insult haha
wonderful - thanks so much to uploader. that yun is sav.
sick
IMO, it was because of the techs. Techs allowed for players to read their opponents moves and turn the fight around on a dime.
Yun is awsome! There's absolutely no reason why he should not return to SFIV! The SFIII characters in general are excellent! And deserve some respect!! Except for Gill!
MURDER....pure unadultereated.
Daigo's speed, parry ability and the strength of Ken is a deadly combination.
Has there been any SF3 matches on this level yet.

really good fights
True shit. Also Daigo on a recent interview sai that that year (2k4) he wasnt playin 3S seriously so go figure. The next year he won the SBO with Nuki as partner and against Kokujin and KO so he isnt any slouch at 3S.
no no daisan vs justin... that shit was epic.
Thanx brutha.
which street fighter is this?
Man I love Daigo play style, but sometimes I just wish evo2k3 technique was more effective. Its hella fun watching him play.
4:54 Amazing..
he's probably thinking "i'll just save my ultra bar for the next round"
Who else rewinds & slow-moze the epic gLiTcH >? 0_- -_0
It's actually agreed upon that the top three are Yun, Chun-Li and Makoto.
LOL at the white guy in the background saying "HEY"
can someone tell me who is the top dudley player and just becuase im a fan i love this game but was kinda piss that they did not but sagat my fav charcter in here.
At the end he says game three but isn't that the fourth that Daigo had won? Maybe I don't understand the scoring..
agreed. Tbh its really a shame that Daigo just up and left =(
i guess daigo was as his best in 2003/2004
He's the best in every other SF game. :) Probably within the top 5 at least in the world with this game.
u dont understand. he has been defeated a couple times but wut i meant was that in the tourny's he was never put in the loser brackets that means he either won the title or second place.
Can someone tell me how the kara-command Throw from yun works???
daigo is good, ko is good, yun is also a top tier character so the match is really up for grabs, sometimes you get lucky though.
Well said.
6:22=Taunting at its finest
I think this is as well as the game can be played. Also maybe the closest a non Chun or Yun will ever come to winning an evo.
BEST SKILL EVER FROM UNBELIEVABLE PLAYERS!!!! i doubt to see any other skills like this in my life! they are fast like hell, unhuman
YEAH THAT's IT ... UNHUMAN
i could tell daigo was gettin tired, it happens, KO adapted and dominated once he patterned out, theres only but so many ways to suprise your opponent with ken.

i was rooting for yun the entire time
hes my favorite character
lol i love the chant
anyone know what yr this is?
Because I saw that Daigo guy parry Chun Li's special I practice and I finally parried the whole thing.
You're ignorant if you refuse to acknowledge tiers. It's impossible to fully balance ANY game - characters will have edges, no matter how slight. yeah my bad. jab punch and jab kick is grab lol!
youre right.
5:20 NICE
i got a uk copy for the dreamcast back in 2002.
wooooow daigo got angry during the end matches lol.
He took 3rd at Season's Beatings. That's pretty damn good for being out of practice.
Yeah, K.O. had already won the match, so he was just playing to the crowd with that one. I thought it was hilarious.
@frenzii3s that is just one tournament man. in most of the others tournaments dagio has enter in, he has place 1st or 2nd in 3rd strike, but i do agree if he goes into a tournament now for 3rd strike he would most likely not do as well because the players are much stronger now. but that doesn't mean he can't win. also with 3rd strike being less popular now there would really be no point in him working so hard at a game that nobody plays as much anymore not to say there are no loyalist around.
i can parry the second half of chun li finisher but it takes precise timeing and i miss 50% of the time
@monkeypower overpowered? i would say chun li was more op than yuns..yea its annoying to be juggled but wen u take into the amount of damage scale its not really all that bad.
Very fast paced, Daigo @ his best.
KEN PWNS DUDE!
KEN PWNS!
K.O. got K.O.ed, that was just an uneven pair-up match on Yun's part...
no, kicks are not consider part of kens game. you can link as muchas as ken with gouki, sean and ryu.
Freak en awesome homes.....
BECAUSE THEY AREN'T. Although they do so much damage, their priority over other chars is not as much as Ken, Yun, Chun. Ken has A LOT of options. Ryu is too slow to be top tier, Akuma isn't because of him taking so much damage, Hugo doesn't because of his dash speed and the fact that most of his moves require close range that can easily be poked out of.
i dont get what youre saying after the first sentence.
