I'm wearing my white Baby-G right now. I also have a 16.5 cm wrist and after trying both models in a boutique, the smaller Baby-G was an evident choice for me. I immediately liked the reduced bulkiness and shorter lug to lug size, but most importantly the shorter strap that doesn't overhang. The long strap flapping around is what bothered me most on the standard G-shock and that was a deal breaker. I couldn't be happier with my "ladies" watch. 😉
I wear both Baby-G's and G-Shocks. I don't think that men should worry about what others think, especially if the watch matches your outfit and expectations.
Good on ya, RokkitGirl! 🙌 I agree with the mindset completely. 💯 It’s about what you think of your own watch, as you’re the one wearing it. By the way, I love matching my watch to my ‘fit too 😎👌
Baby G is a stupid brand name, even for women. G-Shock GMD-S5600 is the correct answer and the example of how Casio should make and marketing smaller versions
Yeah I agree, as the word "Baby" may be off-putting even to the Woman who Casio are trying to target. WOW! 🤩 Thank you for sharing the GMD-S5600 - THIS is the way to do it, Casio! 👏 G-Shock text and all. 👌
Hey, you guys kid around, but I’m actually seriously considering starting a business manufacturing mod kits for Baby Gs. I’m a guy and I love them. I’m nearly 50, got nothing to prove to anyone anymore so I wear whatever the fuck I want. 😁
Man i have to share this with you!! A very interesting incident happened in my life. I had to recieve a call that came while watching ur video so i paused and went to answer, in the meantime my father came infront of my pc and saw the paused video where u ashowed the ae1200 and the gshock at 2:19 and asked me what u think about the one in the left(he has a very little knowledge about watches) i told him about the watch later that evening i saw him returning home buying one for me, even he managed to get the one with the green world map like yours which was my absolute favourite. I was already saving up for buying this time piece. Bt by the grace of the Almighty I got my hands one one of the watches quite earlier than I expected. This was an unexpected and wholesome story of my life.
Tamjeed, this is an incredible tale! 😯 Thank you so much for sharing this with me. 🙏 Your father is a very thoughtful, and generous man! 👌 Wow. What an amazing gift to receive! 🤩 I hope you enjoy your Green-Mapped Royale, and that you have shown your sincere appreciation to Dad for being such a GOAT! 🐐👑
I bought a Baby-G BGD560-7, and I love that it's basically a smaller DW5600 in white. I couldn't care less if anyone spotted that it was a Baby-G, really.
I can already answer the question. Yes, they can ...but g-shock should consider renaming it and always include some gender neutral colorways. Not every man is confident enough to sport a small, pink watch with glitter named "Baby G" ha ha
This is a great point, Yogi! 👌 And you're right, the simple answer is yes - and there's a reason behind it. A rename might be "Mini-G", which some may find more appealing than "Baby-G". Haha, I'm sure there would be someone who could pull that off 🤣
A watch is absolutely perfect.....I feel much better as a man with a Baby-G at my wrist than with the GPR-B1000 Rangeman. I'm still jealous to my daughters cause they are wearing it every day, and they love it....(daddy loves it too) In my personal opinion that thing (black variant off course) would be a most perfect military watch ever made, it didn't exist when I was in service unfortunatelly....it's slipping under the cuff, it's never on the way and it's doing the job......to be honest, it's much better than my Marathon GPQ 34mm which is couple of times more expensive without any normal reason. I'm looking to buy a Baby for myself too Like
Good stuff, Termit. I've seen some Rangemens in person at the shops and they do look a little large! Very cool though 👌 I love the idea of sharing watches amongst the family - It's so wholesome 😊 As a matter of fact, (just like you described) there IS a smaller G-Shock version without the Baby-G text available! I just found out about it from some comments, and have added a link to it in the description if you'd like to check it out.
@@goatreviews No brother thank you, I'm really too old to listen or care about anyone's opinion (except for my dog's opinion) and also I got so many watches, a lot more than enough to create my own opinion based on my own experience.....I'm wearing watches that makes me happy not giving a heck about the other people's opinion. Baby-G text or not, really I don't mind it. I prefer a function over form, so a little cosmetical things doesn't annoying me. When you see a 120 kg guy in a bad mood with a little ''Baby'' thingy at the wrist, you are suddenly not interested anymore to tell him that's a ''woman's, female'' thing 😀😀😀
Short answer: you can wear it. Long answer: you can wear it because nobody cares about what watch you're wearing. For a normal person it's hard to tell if a watch is a smartwatch or a regular watch. I've shown proudly my GW-M5610 to a girl and she said "It's old!" ...WHAT?? So yeah, no problem with that. I've recently bought a GMD-S5600-1, and you know what? They've taken off the BABY-G inscription, it's simply G-Shock! (and the shiny mirror gold front face + the yellowish module are killer). PLUS, the strap has the same length of a regular G. PLUS, it weights only 41 grams. Give it a try if you can... Oh, and the proportions bezel/display are the same of regular G's, so you probably will not notice any major difference.
This is the key, Bruno! 👌 You're the one who cares the most about your own watch, and pays attention to it. Hahaha, she had no idea what a magnificent and modern timepiece she was looking at 😛 YES! 🙌 Another commenter just advised about the GMD-S5600 as well! What a perfect execution 👌
@@goatreviews but there is a downside! The shape of the strap, where it inserts in the case... It's pointing down more than a regular G, so it doesn't hug the wrist very well. This time probably I'll use adaptors and a NATO or a velcro strap. 👌🏼
I think the problem is that they tend to age worse than the normal G-shock. Whether due to the materials or the colors used, after a few years they look worn out. I have two from 2002 and they haven't aged very well.
Interesting!! Thanks for pointing this out, Vasco 🙏 While this Baby-G is too young for me to have noticed anything thus far, I have DEFINITELY seen pictures of some terribly-aged ones! What colour were the ones you have noticed it with? I suspect it's to do with the transparent 'jelly' style straps and bezels yellowing over time, or the overall pastel colourways showing age more than darker G's. What are your thoughts? 🤔
That's exactly what you are saying, whites tend to turn yellowish and transparent straps look ugly over time. Finding replacement straps also seems more difficult than other G-shock straps.
I think men can wear these. However, i feel like Casio should offer most of these watches without the Baby G branding for us as well. I actually like the Baby G name for women and kids, etc. I do feel like they would sell better through all populations without that name, though. I've seen quite a few BGs that i like and would wear. I haven't done so yet, but I would definitely look into a few in the future if they dropped the branding. However, it is my long-term postion that no one ever really notices what watch you are wearing, unless it is obviously gold or very flashy, not that these are necessarily desirable to people, either. In particular, the words are very difficult to see in real life. I try to see what people are wearing when i see them in a watch and outside of recognizable shapes (5600, OP, PRX) its very tough to tell. That, and you won't usually know if it is a homage even if you spot a shape, you know.
You've perfectly summarized the exact sentiment of most people, Jim! 👌 I couldn't agree more with all the points you made. 💯 I have recently found out about the GMD-S5600 series, which is basically what yourself and a lot of people have been asking for! It's a Baby-G size, without the text. I've added a link in the description if you'd like to check it out!
You do you, but there’s a reason there are women’s pants and men’s pants. Same with wristwatches. Admittedly, there’s less of a difference in wrists than there is in pants, however the strap is shorter on a BabyG and the shape of how goes around your wrist is different. On my 7 and a quarter and as per your video I d be on the last hole which is no good. The controversy here only exists as there are those who don’t want to recognize biological differences. Kudos to Casio for realizing that ad designing for that.
Fair points! 👌 Yeah 7 1/4” would be cutting it close - I wouldn’t recommend anything larger than 6 1/2” like me - as once you’re into the last couple of holes the keeper wouldn’t really work well. Thanks for weighing in, Marcelo! 🙏
Interesting exercise/experiment! My daughter has a pink Baby-G, tried it on, but the strap is not long enough with only one hole left! Anyway I can't get away with the pink, too feminine for me as I usually wear my G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400-1, as it's a bit more manly for me!
Cheers! 🙏 Yeah depending on the colours, it may be a bit much 😁 Dang, one hole left isn’t a good fit anyway, as the keeper would definitely slip off. Thanks for sharing, and good stuff on the Rangeman! 💪
