    If one has access and needs extra charging at a Tesla destination charger or already owns a Tesla home charger and has a non Tesla vehicle this would be a good way to accommodate charging from a Tesla charger. The price is very reasonable and it appears to be of very good build quality. I liked your introduction 👍 and the graphics, and sound effects.

    Destination charges take 6 hours to charge your Bolt, they're a level II.

      Thanks for the comment! This is true, destination chargers are only Level 2, so they take much longer to charge than a supercharger. That being said, they are a good option if you have time available, or just need a small charge boost. Like and subscribe and happy charging!

      It should work with any vehicle that charges via a J1772 port

    I have a Generation 3 Tesla charger. I bought a Lectron adapter but when I plug it in my Ford Mach-E, it jumbs my breaker in my house (30 amps)

    This is somewhat easier for Europeans: Here Tesla destination chargers have a type 2 female plug as Teslas sold here are fitted with a type 2 socket so also accept 3 phase power (if you are not unlucky and got a single phase 7kW model 3), so it just plugs into any vehicle and works, unless the destination charger internally is setup to only accept Teslas (dip switch 2). You can't imagine the murder stares I'm getting from Tesla owners when charging my 2002 Fiat elettra at the free Tesla destination chargers at my mall, when they are all occupied. However, as an European Tesla owner you can just buy a proper 32A 3 phase type 2 cable instead of the included single phase cable and charge just as fast at any public charger.

    I’ve only seen Tesla superchargers, where do you find destination chargers?
    I have a Kona EV and this would be helpful.

      Hi Lorraine, thanks for the question! Tesla shows all the Destination chargers on their network here: www.tesla.com/destination-charging - hope that helps! Like and subscribe and let me know if you have any other questions! Happy charging!

    Can you use the adapter on a Tesla supercharger too?

    • @evunite1
      @evunite1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi @rakesh singh and thanks for the question! As mentioned in the video, no, you can't use this adapter on a Tesla supercharger. It is compatible with Tesla Destination chargers, Tesla Wall Connector (home charger), and Tesla Mobile Connector (110V home charger). Unfortunately it is not rated for high enough power to be compatible with a supercharger. Hopefully that helps! Is there an adapter for a Tesla supercharger station? I have a Chevy volt not the bolt but I think they have the same basic charge port don't they?

    • @evunite1
      @evunite1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Patrick Ryan and thanks for the question! I am not aware of any adapter that is compatible with a Tesla supercharger - it is too high power. Tesla doesn’t want other EVs to be able to charge at their stations (at least currently).

    • @fixman88

      You may know this already, but Tesla is rolling out their Magic Dock system where you can pull a CCS adapter right out of the Supercharger.

      Some have a lock on them or you can purchase a personal one

    • @ItsBinhRepaired

      You don't leave the adapter there. It's for someone with a non ev to carry around and charge at one of these.

  • @keoghrichard1988
    @keoghrichard1988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tesla Super chargers are software locked so will only work if you plug them into a Tesla car

    • @mrdylansays
      @mrdylansays 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tesla superchargers are also DC fast charging, so you'd need a tesla to j1772-combo/ccs-1/sae-combo adapter that supports DC fast-charging (level 3), which essentially is a j1772 with 2 additional plugs on it. This does not exist on the Lectron adapter, which is the primary reason why it's not compatible (aside from any Tesla vendor-locking).

    is most tesla charging station free? If they charge, how to pay?

    • @mrdylansays
      @mrdylansays 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tesla and a couple of other manufacturers (i.e. Porsche. VW) operate on the "plug and charge" model, where your car identifies itself with the charger and a stored payment method gets charged automatically. This is 100% true for superchargers, but for destination chargers, it just depends on if the owner of the charger/property has enabled billing or not (if they haven't, then yes, it's "free"). Electrify America and Chargepoint have "plug and charge" available as well, but I'm not sure if it's 100% of their networks, and it only works if your car supports it, you've enabled it, and have a valid billing method set up for each network.

    Well what the heck good is it if it doesn’t work with the Tesla super charger!?? You really think people got 10 hours to hang around waiting? Is there a super charge adaptor or not?
