Very informative series. Will be installing one for my my new ID4. If you purchase direct from United Chargers there is a 5 year warranty option.

After charging, can you unlock the cable by pressing the button on the handle or do you need to use the panel/app to unlock the charging cable to remove? Thanks
It is interesting that you mentioned the lack of a locking pin to keep it from getting stolen....Grizzl-E does sell a locking pin but only from their website, why it isn't offered on Amazon is a mystery, I just bought this unit myself from Amazon and tried to buy the locking pin when visiting their website but they will not sell the pin unless you buy the charger from them!...is that crazy or what??

Hey @timoteo, thanks for the comment! In my opinion a security feature like a lock/key should be standard when you purchase the charger....maybe they will change that in the next version. I haven't done a large amount of research, but there may be some 3rd party company out there selling a compatible lock/key set. Otherwise you may be able to come up with your own creative way to secure the charger better. Let me know if you find any good options! Like and subscribe and happy charging!
Great video, very detailed and helpful information! One quick question, how do you adjust the amperage? I’m looking to just use the 32amp setting since my electrical box is almost maxed out. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment and question @Planeta Studio! You can either purchase the charger with the desired amperage, or to change it you remove the 4 screws on the front panel and then adjust the DIP switch inside the unit to adjust to 32amps. @@evunite1 I have a RAV4 Prime SE and accepts up to 3.3kw. From what I read, it can charge with a max of 240/16. If the charger is set for 40amps, wouldn’t the car adjust to its max capacity? Would I have to set the charger to 16amps?
@@jonathanlising The DIP switches set the maximum draw from the main panel, not the maximum to the car. If you only have a 20A breaker, you need to set the DIP switches to 16A to keep the charger from drawing more current than the breaker will permit. 30A breaker -> 24A draw, etc.
I have the black version of this (GR1-14-24-P) and have used it once. Tonight I was going to charge my Kona Electric but I cannot get the charger handle out of the wall bracket. Is there some trick like using a flat bladed screwdriver to push down the locking pin so I can pull out the charger from the wall bracket?
It is possible to chain this with the included tesla cable to have ~40 feet of cable?
HI, thanks for the review. My new home came with a nema 6-50 outlet in the garage for EVs. Can I simply buy a 6-50 to 14-50 adapter from amazon and plug this charger in? I cannot fin the 6-50 variant of it anymore.

Just FYI, this company sells the cable holder and handle mount that accommodates the handle with the Tesla J1772 attached on Amazon. I keep my adapter attached to it all of the time and it works perfectly. It’s called the Grizzl-e Heavy Duty Easy EV plug (Tesla) and lists for $19.

I know I'm being a engineering / grammar nazi, but it's not a charger. Its a charge station or from an electrical engineering perspective its actually a power supply. Other than that great review.
Why did you choose the J1772 plug instead of the Tesla plug available for this Grizzl-E unit?
I'm not sure anybody offers a Tesla plug, except Tesla.
@@rogerballiet8131 Grizzl-E has a choice on their website for Tesla Plug or J1772. grizzl-e.com/product/usa/chargers-usa/grizzl-e-classic-nema-14-50/
@@ericsnow5060 I had the same misunderstanding that I didn't get figured out until after receiving the unit. There is no option for the plug. They are all J1772. The Tesla option is for the holster - which at least means you don't have to remove the adaptor to use the holster.
@@kblaurie Oh wow - Thanks for providing that correction! I just checked their site again they've now clarified it is for the holster in the description. "EasyEVPlug Holster and Cable Management" It is definitely less misleading now.
