The fish suffering, never free, breathe taken and then thrown away until next time until the fish finally lures him back one more time to show him he was never in control.

In the beginning of the video of Hanging On you see a lifeless body floating down the river. Is it the old man or the young man..? To me it looks like the young man. i always listen to this song and watch the video when i am high. and i think there are a lot of things that can be understood from the video. it shows his youth and old age. he is in love with the fishing metaphorically, releases a fish in his youth, then goes to the same place and hopes to find it there, but drowns. i guess he catches it at the end, but drowns in the rivers flow. the love kills him because he let it go in his youth. maybe i should quit smoking :(
