- On Sunday July 8th, I finally had the opportunity to travel down to the northern suburb of Columbus known as Worthington to an old museum. Founded in 1948 the Ohio Railway Museum turns 70 this year, and it seemed fitting to showcase their current operation with a GE-65 Tonner and ex Canadian National Coach, while highlighting the two current restoration projects.
I guess I can officially say you're the first railfan to ever chase our train!
I like how the train run here 👍
nice
the ultimate question to ask: is there a wig wag signal of any kind
This museum is open only for FOUR HOURS only on SUNDAYS. The museum AND the train ride ARE NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE.
I know Jake Miller. He and I belong to the Model Railroad Club up the road.
Ever thought about heading down the road to work with real trains in addition to the models? We can always use the help!
CSXGirl882- I said on the Ohio Railway Museum facebook page that I am concidering it.
CSXGirl822- I mean, I did get to drive a BNSF GEVO at the Rock Island railroad museum in 2011, so I would like to do something like that again
Here's a lesson if you want more people to come to your railroad Add a steam locomotive to your roster
They have two.
Easier said than done. They need people to come to the railroad in order to get the funds to restore one. I mean if they have a good candidate for restoration then having a donation fund on the internet could help, but most of the funds would likely be coming from people going into the museum and buying tickets.
That's also not including all the money they need to maintain the equipment they already have.
