There is an archaeologist from Alexandria who has been digging in the city, specifically in a park, for years, if not decades, believing that the tomb of Alexander the Great is located there. It would be a global sensation if her assumption is correct and she were to discover it one day. Ever since, I have been following everything related to the city with great interest. The part where you were in the catacombs with the guide was super interesting. I look forward to your next videos.
Amazing videos of Alexandria with catacomb, Citadel, etc. An extremely interesting history in Egypt with much more coming to light now on time frames etc.
Great tour of Alexandria, loved how you showed the busy streets, both raw and real. Loved the catacombs tour, such an interesting city, with so much history. Thanks again for another wonderful ride back to the past.❤
Thanks for the tour. Wow, that Uber app has me wanting to revisit Egypt. I remember the hassles back in 2010, hailing taxis. My most frequently used words, La Shukran!
Mr. Gabriel:Welcome to Alexandria, Egypt one month to arrives in this amazing North African country to tours many places on the streets in great joy & peace 2024❤❤❤
Loved this video . I will have 2 days there next year as part of a cruise and I found lots of tips from your video so thanks. I too love orange and pomegranate juice…. Had so much of it in Jerusalem,
Impressive always wondered what the Catacombs were. Hard to believe they constructed that so long ago. And imagine no HVAC there in those deep vaults. Thanks Gabriel.
Hi Gabriel, that was fascinating the catacombs were outstanding much like the pyramids with so many cryptic messages there. many people don't know this, but Jesus and the Virgin Mary lived in Matareyah Egypt when he was a young boy for 2 to 4 years escaping King Herod's wrath.
Indeed, Alexandria is a very historic city, Cleopatra was the last queen of Hellenism before it was completely occupied by the Romans. Also Hypatia, the last Greek philosopher, was murdered by the Christian mob in Alexandria in 415 AD, as the movie AGORA describes
@@RexHimmerwhat bodies? Hypatia was dragged by the fanatical christian mob , stripped naked, murdered brutally, torn appart and set her dead body on fire. Whatever left was brought to Cinarion ,a place in Alexandria. Cleopatra was buried with hear husband Marcus Antonius. Neither of the tombs has been found, many archaeologists believe they are lying at the ... bottom of the Mediterranean sea ..
Salmon/Steak with sauce:) Even the odd first day in Egypt was alright to see Gabriel. It left this viewer Craig the budget novice traveler, but not for long guy. UK. Wondering about what next? Alexandria has probably the best catacombs ever. In comparison to decorated Jian temples or Byzantine churches. Loving the prices of Egypt! Go Gabe. Alexandrian fortress reminded me of the place you went where the Muslims asked you about your faith. The place where they said Jesus is buried under the Muslims mosque. Good court yard!
Sources say Ptolemy I captured the convoy that was supposed to take Alexander the Great to Macedon to take his remains to Alexandria. Latest sources about the subject say Caligula ( third emperor of the Roman Empire era) stole his armor and what happened to his tomb is still a mystery.. hope we can discover his tomb during our lifetime. Alexandria seems well worth to visit. Thanks for the video and safe travels, Gabe.
Yes you are right. First he took it to Memphis till he built a mausoleum in Alexandria and put the dead body there. Many Roman emperors Julius Caesar, Octavian Augustus, Caligula visited and worshipped the pile of Alexander the great. Emperor Caracalla closed the tomb for the public around 215 ac. The tomb is said to remain there till 400 when an earthquake and a tsunami destroyed many buildings. From that time it's only mystery and speculation. One of the greatest mysteries of all time: where is the tomb of Alexander the great?!
Fascinating city. Millennia of culture. I was in Egypt about 40 years ago and you saw hijabs worn only by very old women. How said that they’ve gone backward in this way.
thank you for correctly explaining the conditioning of the human animal to accept a new identity and defend erroneously what they have accepted becoming something out, example, from Yankee to American , from Hellenic to Egyptian, from Azteca to American . saludos
Siwa is an amazing place. The salt lake is awesome. Just make sure you don’t cut yourself as the salt have sharp pieces and edges lying around that will not be good when you dip and float in the dense salt lake ( that burning sensation) There are hot springs also that are pretty amazing
Very interesting city! You can actually use Uber to get between the cities in Egypt at decent rates if you don't want to take the buses, I would have thought you would spend more than just one day in Alexandria though
38:51 pomegranate juice is maybe the best, intense and strong taste. Very soon I will collect the pomegranates from a pomegranate tree in my yard, here in Greece.
Whoa, I think I just had deja vu. Was there another video with that horse drawn cart at 1:12 or did I just remember dreaming it?? I enjoyed watching your walking tour. 👍 BTW-How much was the catacombs tour guide?
I've shown lots of horse drawn carts in various videos, but not that same clip before. I offered to pay him 500 pounds which is $10, then I paid him 600 which is $12. I'm sure that was pretty generous considering the prices of things in Egypt, he seemed very happy with it.
Amazing job Gabriel! The music and video quality editing reminding of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Especially parts of the catacombs and Uber ride. Wishing you only the best.
Gabriel we’ve been fans for years. Surprisingly scrolling through the TV today we found Gabriel’s Travels on a travel channel! Who knew! Maybe it’s something you can talk about with us. ~Cara ❤
Hi, I don't know about that. You mean you saw my videos on TV? Or it was somebody else called Gabriel's Travels? I haven't allowed anyone to show my content on TV.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Yes we use sling TV and it is you! On a travel channel I will find the name of the channel and get back to you. The video was you traveling in California.

Hi Gabe!! You were born in Canada. I'm pretty sure you must be eligible for Canadian passport. Wouldn't that pretty much resolve the Schengen dilemma?? You could use 90 days on each.
I have an expired Canadian passport, need to get it renewed. But you aren't allowed to enter with two separate passports and stay longer that way. You could try and probably get away with it, but if you got caught it could be a bad situation. Also there's a new system going into effect in a couple months that will probably make it harder to get away with getting around the rules.
I was not able to travel, taking care of 2 severely disabled children, but the last 10 years I have been able too, but I had to wait until I was 64, I am 73 now and just came back from Budapest, Hungary, and I said I do not think I can travel anymore, I am too old, but was thinking maybe about going to Istanbul, Turkey or Alexandria, Egypt, which would be the better choice for me., do you need a visa for Egypt.
You can get a visa on arrival for Egypt at the airport, it took about ten minutes. You don't need a visa for Turkey anymore. But if it's a question of Istanbul or Alexandria, there's no contest: Istanbul is the better city for travelers.
Hi love your videos, shame you are going west and did not east to Dahab a wonderful place. Stay at the Red Sea Relax and explore the Coloured Canyon and vist St Catherines Monastery, climb Mt Sinia . I am sure you would enjoy it.
Alexander the Drunk was the "_Hitler_" of that period. The winged symbol you saw was the Persian (Iranian) Faravahar, which is the main symbol of Iranian religion of Zoroastrianism. Egypt was part of the Persian Empire from 526-404 BC. Look up the Achaemenid Persian Empire!

I loved the enthusiasm of the guide, Eygptians are so proud of their history, and rightly so. Great video Gabriel.

If she does discover a tomb, how would they determine that it is Alexander the Great's tomb?
If it who u think she is also looking for cleopatras tomb at another site outside of Alexandria.
Excellent video. Very informative.

That statue was for the Apis Bull, which used to be worshiped at that time.
Spectacular carvings in the catacombs of Alexandria!
Absolutely incredible- and they’ve obviously had the benefit of being protected from the elements
be careful man, that area might get pulled into some chaos yet again soon.

@RexHimmer what has been happening since the beginning of times, the rise and the fall 🌎
Those catacombs are even more impressive than the Anatolian ones.
Alexander the Great's mother was called Olympias. Little greek history lesson😊
I don't believe all of those hieroglyphs are the originals. There's reason to believe. Thanks for another great travel vid Gabe.

I would love to visit some of these places in the Middle East it’s just not safe
Sidewalks are taken by commerce and other things and people are forced to walk in the middle of the street and risk being hit by a moving object.
Yes not safe, not nice like in India.
I was just there yesterday. So crazy and hot also 😅. Worth it.

It's India prices, maybe even less, since India has gotten more expensive.
