It worked! I had a hard time disconnecting the two wires from the alarm because the the white plastic connectors were burnt and melted together. I ended up ripping both parts out, cut off the melted connectors, stripped the wires, and capped them together. I wish I learned this before buying and installing a new inhibitor switch (aka neutral safety switch) which did not solve the problem like this did. I also wish I would have just plugged in the new inhibitor switch and adjusted the lever by hand instead of installing it on the transmission and then trying to start the car. Thank you for this helpful video.
1999 Forester intermittent starting problems gone by detaching the Starter Interrupt wire and soldering it to itself. The relay was going bad and caused lots of starter issues. Thanks for the information Joshua!
if you follow the starter interrupt wires you'll find they tee into two blue connectors,, disconnect the whole loom and plug the two blue connectors back into each other
There is no connector that plugs into my starter interrupt so I can’t jump those on the wiring side and jumping them on the box does nothing also I hooked up wires and bridge the solenoid to get the engine to turn over and the car won’t start even with the engine turning over how do I get this thing to freaking start?
I know this is an old video but would a temp solution be just pulling it out completely? I'm fine with going to full manual locks but gotta get rid of this intermittent starting issue
This doesn't make sense I'm trying to do it on my car here's car has more or less pens than mine and I'm running into a hue my car won't start and I'm just trying to eliminate this and his way isn't going to work but it's the same Box it looks like
After I finally figured out exactly what you showed everyone in this video I disconnected the module and jumpered the two connections you showed and total success, no more alarm issues causing a no start or random alarms going off. Thanks 😊

Worked great on my 1998 Subaru Forester S all-wheel drive
Thank you. I had to infer you made the jumps on the wire harnesses, but I did and now I can start the car.
You are a god send been fighting this for a minute now

The jumper modification for the two-wire starter plug-in does not stop the siren on the 1999 Forester
It's like you knew I would need this 9urs later thank you

Joe Kaperick hello I seen you b replied to this post. I have a similar issue. So this eliminates the box all together? thanks
What colors are 4&5?
Will the alarm system being faulty cause a no spark or just no crank?
I believe this only interrupts the starter signal (not the ignition/spark).
does this work on 2001 impreza bug eye???? my blinkers stay on while driving.
just to clear, the ability of using the FOB is gone right?.
thanks for the video
That is correct. If you follow these instructions it will be as if there was never any keyless entry. The power locks, however, will still operate.
Worked like a charm thank you
Did you cut the wires that go to the Alarm module and splice them together? I've tried several ways to override the alarm and nothing has worked.
You don’t say where the control unit is located
This is great!!! Thanks so much!!!

I fixed my security problem this way and now I have an engine light but car runs ..... unfortunately I need to smog and wont smog with engine light
This mod should not affect the engine management system. I suggest checking the codes and finding out what the issue is.
Joshua Nelson Thank You for your reply
