There has never been a show since that compares to "I Love Lucy." The cast, characters, writers and everyone who contributed made the show absolute comic perfection. With each leading cast member a song and dance talent in their own right, it made the numerous interludes a joy to watch. William Frawley had such a great delivery and timing that he's forever Fred Mertz. Thank you for creating and sharing this marvelous compilation.
Lucy and The Honeymooners basically created the sitcom and neither has been topped in over 60 years though The Odd Couple, All in the family, Sanford and Son, and Andy Griffith are right after.
My fave Fred moment- when Ethel shimmies into the Ricardo's apartment wearing a skim tight leopard print dress, Ricky looks at her in shock & blurts out, "who's that?"...that's when Fred retorts, "who's that....?, what's that". I laughed my ass off!

I have watched and rewatched all of the I Love Lucy shows since they first came on T.V. I really don't think the show could ever have been as hilarious as it was without William Frawley and Vivian Vance. All four, Desi, Lucy, Bill, and Vivian were the perfect chemistry, and the writers were geniuses! Thank you for showing this!! :)
Bill Frawley was great, always makes me laugh. "Well, if the Ricardo chap isn't here, we may as well pop off!!!," and in that high-pitched British accent-- total hilarity! Also, I loved it when he barked out "WELL!!" to Ricky's agent Jerry in response to Jerry's line, "Hey Rick, I'm a good press agent, but not that good!" in the episode where the women try to get rid of the guys old clothes and Ricky gets an award at the end as one of the best dressed men in America!
I still watch I love Lucy, I love the cast and I think they were all very funny. But I really loved Fred's comebacks ....... "what was wrong with $10.00".

There was an episode where Lucy and Ethel get into a horse costume with Ethel being the back end. Lucy gets out of her half of the costume, while Fred comes in and says hi to Lucy then to Ethel who was still inside the back end. Ethel then pops out and says, "Fred how did you know I was in this costume?",and Fred with a dead pan face answers "What costume?" To me that had to be the greatest Fred Mertz line ever!
Classic, classic television!! The four of them were the best!! They each contributed to the success of I Love Lucy....It is timeless comedy for sure. So wonderful that we can all still enjoy the show so many years later!!! I Love Lucy and Company!!!
I like the episode where Fred and Lucy fall asleep on the Fairy from the Sea Sick pills. What Fred goes through to get Lucy off the Fairy is funny. Also the end where Fred yells to the passport clerk that he can go now and then plugs back in the clock.
These are all amazing Fred moments!! I love when little Rickey gets a dog and Fred doesn't care for the idea.. until little Ricky explains why he named the dog Fred lol love the videos!!

I grew up on I Love Lucy. My mother used to watch it each day. They must have been reruns back then, because I wasn't born till 1958. I still love watching all four of them as a team. Now, there is a channel on cable called "Me (memoriable) TV. They run Lucy very early in the morning. I DVR them so I can watch them when I need a good pick me up.
There's no way I would watch "I Love Lucy" without Fred and Ethel. Their contributions to the show really made it's success. I've seen all the episodes many times and I never get tired of it. On the other hand, Lucy's other shows (The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy) just don't measure up. The scripts are nowhere near as funny and everybody seems to be talking too loud.
So true. I remember when her later shows came on, and I and my Mom were very disappointed. As a 12 year old I remember thinking how different it was without Desi and Fred's chemistry, and realizing even at that innocent and tender age how devastating divorce is.
@@kurtislawler984 I agree with that. The scripts were so typical. Lucy always got into some kind of financial jam and needed Mr. Mooney's help. The hour long Lucy and Desi Show which I believe ran from 1958 to 1960 had much funnier scripts.

In all my decades watching I Love Lucy, I never paid much attention to Fred. A few months ago I decided to watch only him in every episode. I had realized that William Frawley was a very good actor. Now when I watch ILL💜 Fred stands out and completes the whole sketch.
Another fun video, Rick. Well done! You know, like the Beatles, the cast of "Lucy" was so much more than the sum of the parts. I love that Bill Frawley could crack up Desi and Lucy - their laughs do look genuine. Which is something that made the show seem special and unrehearsed. In a lot of sitcoms, the actors say incredibly funny things but no one laughs. That's not like real life. In real life, we laugh when people say funny stuff. "Lucy" was more like real life, at least when it came to human reactions. Great show!
These are wonderful clips Rick! Thanks for the great post - Fred and Ethel Mertz are my favorite TV couple of all time! You very rightly pointed out that William Frawley's Vaudeville experience was greatly incorporated into many "I Love Lucy" episodes - as was Vivian Vance's singing and stage work.
That was a different show. Ricky had the gun. "Synopsis Lucy read a murder mystery. She listened to Ethel's fortune-telling, and thinks Ricky is trying to kill her. Plot Ethel learns how to tell fortunes from playing cards, and when she tells Lucy's fortune, death comes up for the future. Because of this, along with reading "The Mocking Bird Murder Mystery", Lucy jumps to the conclusion that her husband, Ricky, is planning on murdering her, at first Lucy thinks that Ricky wants to strangle her. Then she thinks that he is going to shoot her, and when Ricky gives her a sleeping pouch to calm down her hysterical behavior, she thinks for sure that she has been poisoned. So before she "dies" she goes down to the studio to confront the murder, Ricky, about trying to kill her. She tells him how she found a gun in their house and that he is going to kill her with it. Ricky pulls out the gun that she is talking about and points it at her, Lucy screams, Ricky pulls the trigger and a little flag pops out that says BANG on it. So Lucy and Ricky make up for all of the confusion and they go home."
My all-time favorite show!! Thanks for the great clips! One of my favorite scenes with Lucy and Fred is when they ride the ferry and take the seasick pills!
Everybody told Desi NOT to hire him - the studio the sponsors etc. Cause of his drinking problem. Desi made a deal with Frawley which the latter kept and Desi never had to fire him. Thank you to both of them for making this happen!
Loved it. Thank you. It is 2020 Covid 19 ..... needed a break from all the trauma and seriousness of this terrible Virus. Be safe everyone. To those who have lost a loved one and to those who are ill. God please draw nearer.
loved this show since I was 5 years old, being watching it almost 55 years...always noticed how funny Fred is...he always cracked me up!!!!... oh for corn sake...LOL!!
This show was genius! The writer's were outstanding. Ethel, Fred and Ricky were perfect, ~ and of course, Lucy! You can't get much better comedy. Even my son watched these with me when he was young and loved them. Seinfeld was a close 2nd for me.
While Seinfeld is heralded as # 1 - I don't think it comes close. I never watch reruns of the show. Seen it once, it's enough. While with I Love Lucy watched it first as a child when it first came out in 1951 (our first tv) still watching it today over 70 years later. Still laugh and appreciate the great team and fantastic writing. I will probably watch it till my very last years. Thank you to all who put this show together - people all over the world laughed and still are. Much love to you all. Just read yet another book Laughing With Lucy by Madelyn Pugh Davis with Bob Carroll Jr. Worth the read!
I appreciate the support on this video! I made seasons two and three and I hope you enjoy those two. Bill always had a special place in my heart because I always laughed at his antics as a kid.
He was a great talent. By the time he did this show, he had been in films for many years, but he had had problems with drinking so people didn't want to use him. Desi agreed to use him but gave him three strikes and you are out. Bill never used any of those strikes because he was so grateful to Desi for this job.
These are some pretty good choices of great episodes, and your observations of the individual performances, particularly by Bill Frawley, are impresssive. Good work.
Thanks! That was great! It brought back memories of hilarious forgotten moments. I always liked Fred. No other actor could have done the part besides Willam Frawley.
@@LJ-ht4zs Way older than I thought! But this is the beauty of recorded media, they will, still be around in a 100 years time, being discovered and enjoyed by future generations!
We'd have never known how much vivian and william disliked one another by looking at their performances. They were true gems. As for what my list would be, I couldn't really say. All are great!
Like William Backus on Gilligan's Island, William Frawley was a key to the comedic success of the show. Mr. Nineg, you've done it again, and please keep doing it!
I loved when Lucy "learned" to play poker and joined the boys' game. Every time Lucy delayed about what to do - he made this loud Harumph sound - could not stop laughing. His sound, the way he looked at her and Lucy jumped and looked back at him. Sounds so simple but was simply great.
This is still the best show on TV, hands down, everything came together to make a wonderful show, cast, writers, a live audience even before canned laughter! The actors and actresses these days don't know how to act let alone sing, dance or do comedy, in the old days they did whatever it took to become famous. These days they do one job. Happy New Year everyone!
No retakes - like a live play every time. I remember when only once Lucy did not come out on cue, was somewhat late. Her mother, who had attended all her performances had recently died. Lucy came out, and began to cry telling the audience the above. So real and so touching - of course the audience felt her sadness - and pain. We all Love Lucy.
I think the fact they disliked each in real life made their interactions more authentic and extremely funny. Fred was a comedic genius and my fav character by far on the show
I’m a 54yro woman and I watched and cracked up to every I Love Lucy re-run I could pre cable and internet days. When I became a young mother I would watch with my children. Out of the three only my middle child Laura would laugh at the appropriate times and understand the gags. She was THREE at the time and at 32 she still loves the show and any movies Lucy was in as I do. Even now I watch what ever I can on the internet to relax me and give me a laugh 😂❤️🥰
One of the BEST comedies of all time. Vivian Vance and William Frawley were an asset to the show and helped contribute to its smashing success. The chemistry between these four outstanding performers was phenomenal. They were all top professionals who gave us unending laughter. I LOVE LUCY will continue to win the hearts of viewers for years to come. William Frawley and Vivian Vance might not have liked each other but in front of the camera they were outstanding. Love this show!
Thank you for this. Very entertaining. So many secrets. Fred had such great delivery because he really didn’t like Ethel. Ricky really did play around on Lucy. That hurt was difficult to hide and still act.
Oh, the ship episode! When Lucy was trying to help Fred get over his motion sickness. Then she got sick and they went to sleep on the boat to Staten Island. I love that you post these clips!
William and Vivian may have hated each other in real life, but their on-screen chemistry was incredible!

"Lucy" was more like real life, at least when it came to human reactions. Great show!
+Robert Barbanes I absolutely agree with your thoughts! This show had so much magic in the air that it is indefineable
Desi could not stop himself when he cracked up with Frawley's delivery. Lucy sometimes laughed but not like Desi.
I thought Fred's gun was gonna pop out a flag that said, BANG!
Me too! Either that or squirt out water.
Me too I thought for sure it was going to say bang or something like that !!!!!
That was a different show. Ricky had the gun.
"Synopsis
Lucy read a murder mystery. She listened to Ethel's fortune-telling, and thinks Ricky is trying to kill her.
Plot
Ethel learns how to tell fortunes from playing cards, and when she tells Lucy's fortune, death comes up for the future.
I agree! Fred was awesome, so funny!! Thanks for doing him justice!
My all-time favorite show!! Thanks for the great clips! One of my favorite scenes with Lucy and Fred is when they ride the ferry and take the seasick pills!
There will never, never, ever be another show like "I Love Lucy"! Some have tried to no avail!!
Fantastic - happy memories of watching them when I was a little girl in the 1950s - thank you!
You are very welcome~! I've got one almost completed that is going LIVE VERY soon!
+Julia McIntyre Thanks for the support!
William Frawley was brilliant throughout l love Lucy. What a joy he was to watch. Will never forget his contribution to entertainment.
Everybody told Desi NOT to hire him - the studio the sponsors etc. Cause of his drinking problem. Desi made a deal with Frawley which the latter kept and Desi never had to fire him. Thank you to both of them for making this happen!
@@LJ-ht4zs Yes, very true he kept his drinking in check.
Loved it. Thank you. It is 2020 Covid 19 ..... needed a break from all the trauma and seriousness of this terrible Virus. Be safe everyone. To those who have lost a loved one and to those who are ill. God please draw nearer.
William Frawley’s hip swinging as a woman was the most hilarious I think! 😂😂😂
No one in tv comedy has ever surpassed Lucy Ball impeccable timing and physical ability. Shear genius.
# 7 was everything.. to see Desi cracking up and LUCY never breaks character - but she did this time. Hilarious and amazing.
Thanks. Love your content. They all played an integral part in making the show a success. I loved Fred's lines. Funny.
The Ricky laughs always made the lines better 🤣
I love your appreciation of a show I used to watch back in the 50s. It's so wonderful that someone as young as you likes these shows.
loved this show since I was 5 years old, being watching it almost 55 years...always noticed how funny Fred is...he always cracked me up!!!!... oh for corn sake...LOL!!
All these shows are funny, thank you for posting these gems!
Fred and Lucy also had a scene alone on the Staten Island Ferry.
+Ellie R from the Bronx One of my fave scenes between Lucy and Fred
these are all great episodes and the very reason why I love watching I LOVE LUCY!!!!!!!!!👍💯😊❤️❣️👏👌🏆🥰
You notice how every scene Fred insults ethel, you see Desi trying not to laugh or he does laugh. The insults are so funny I can't. Lol
Thoroughly enjoyed this video!! Thanks!
Periodically getting caught up on your older videos. You always do a great job.
Greatest show ever on TV! Know every episode.Watched each episode over and over again since I was 2! Love each of them over and over again! 1952
Yeah u father lucy mother me Tarzan! Lol my favorite line
I remember seeing all the episodes and never got bored watching them every time l watch it it was funny and funny thanks for the memories ❤️😀😂
Worth the read!
thank you for pointing out Fred's performance, keep up the good work, I really enjoyed it...thank you
Wonderfully made! I've never paid much attention to Bill Frawley's acting, now finally discovering what a talent he was. :)
+sha11235 You are correct on this fact! I am so thankful to Desi.
+Reynaldo S. Ive never seem that movie. Its pretty cool that they played together in the Uranium episode
Thank you for showing these episodes
This was just great! Thank you so much for sharing!
It's amazing I came upon this, because my wife and I were discussing William Frawley just this past week and I went back to his wikipedia page.
Thanks Rick. William Frawley was wonderful. I also loved his performance in the original Miracle on 34th Street.
Loved Fred!!
+john devesta Agreed!
Such a legendary show at this point, amazing that it is still as fresh and hilarious as ever and it's nearly 70 years old!
The sign of a classic - it never gets old or outdated
Now it is over 70 years old.
Love Fred- thankyou for this!
That is so awesome!!!Loved that clips very funny! Thank you
Incredible how this comedy works even after almost 50 years!
It's almost 70 years for me!
Over 70 years old (2022) - wonder if it will still be around after another 30 years when it will be over 100 years old?
@@LJ-ht4zs Way older than I thought! But this is the beauty of recorded media, they will, still be around in a 100 years time, being discovered and enjoyed by future generations!
Fred is my favorite from the show. I love his hilarious random lines and insults. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love seeing Gale Gordon in those few episodes, because of his later role as "Mr. Mooney" in the Lucy Show
I can never get enough of I Love Lucy
great job putting this together. this was really cool!
+Shannon Wise So glad you enjoyed my video! More to come!!
We'd have never known how much vivian and william disliked one another by looking at their performances. They were true gems. As for what my list would be, I couldn't really say. All are great!
They were professionals. Didn't mean they liked one another.
Fred was a comedic genius and my fav character by far on the show
Those I love Lucy clips were super funny. I love Lucy is my all time favorite comedy show.
"I Got Wind Of It " ❤❤❤
Oh, the ship episode! When Lucy was trying to help Fred get over his motion sickness. Then she got sick and they went to sleep on the boat to Staten Island. I love that you post these clips!
I guess I hadn’t seen this RN episode before.
Great tribute to Fred Mertz.
