The dragoons were "improved" in the protoss story and now they are called immortals, a Robotic Facility unit that can only shoot ground but has a shield that protects them from attacks that does great damage (In other words, they can't receive more than 10 damage), so tanks in siege mode and so aren't effective against them. And they're badass.

This was at the same time where broadband and internet cafes all around Korea began to flourish. This meant that a lot of people were playing. And then little by little some chances were given to show SC on TV and such and then in the end it turned out really big.

In starcraft 2 the reason why its not fun to play in my opinion is because first the game is not a balance game. Protoss is hard to beat too powerful for terran and zerg. Second blizzard didn't allow you to play lan. 3rd blizzard became too greedy released 3 games, first wings of liberty then heart of the swarm and legacy of the void rather than releasing the game that it has 3 races in one game and then releasing the expansion with additional troops and buildings maps ang campaign like they did in Starcraft. There are other several reasons than this. Starcraft 2 will never reach the popularity, kind of gameplay, replayability, fun to play and a well balance game like its predecessor Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War. See, becoming a greedy game developer will make your games look bad and fans will lose faith slowly. Starcraft on the other hand is still popular until this day and I am hoping they will bring back Starcraft: Brood War in world championship tournaments.

Try using iccup and then it should be pretty easy to find games as long as your aren't looking in the middle of the night or something, that said there isnt a lot of new blood in the scene so the level of play is very high compared to sc2. In terms of skill level everyone is probably at least plat or diamond level in sc2 terms so you may lose a lot to begin with...

+Diego V they are different. Brood war is more challenging mechanically (basically how fast you are with mouse and keyboard) and far more of the games are decided by this alone, whereas its harder to win in sc2 without gaining some sort of strategical advantage. Also it plays differently i.e bw terran vs p is generally a very slow late game army focused on the tank whereas in sc2 it focuses on the marine and is thus mobile and harass heavy. Imho both great games just find which you enjoy more (for me bw). Also as for sucking, rts's are stupid hard to learn with so much complexity in mechanics, map awareness, army positioning, build orders etc they take a long time to get the hang of. However when you do they are pretty fucking awesome.

They're actually much more different than that. The ease of control and macro alone in comparison is an enormous difference in the way the games play. The ease with which you can get together a 200/200 army and lead it around in a one control group ball versus SC1s 12 unit and individual production selection presents huge differences in ability needed to play well. This also applies at a pro level.

@thimy69 toss play doesn't require as much mechanical skill as zerg and terran. (aka good micro.) a big part of toss play is scouting really. you have to anticipate and see what the other player is gonna do, especially in a pVz game.

Actually that was a deliberate call they made, with the squad selection limit. Probably so players wouldn't go: select all, A + Move. These things do actually help define a game experience.
starcraft truely is just like sports in north america this reminds me so much of watching all the UFC's always 10 minuites of drinkability before the first punch. Hope SC2 can bring e-sports to us.
@mik3p0wer That's why you make a copy of the cd and play off of it. You might want to see if you can find a no cd crack. You won't be able to reinstall the game, but you should be able to play off of your existing installation.

so many elements of sc1 removed in sc2, for one you cant even kill protoss reinforcements because they can just pylon + warp to their current force.

hey im trying to make a map in SC1 w/ destructible objects like a power generator.. can anyone help me with how i can use one?
Actually that was a deliberate call they made, with the squad selection limit. Probably so players wouldn't go: select all, A + Move. These things do actually help define a game experience.
were the protoss dragons removed in sc2?

starcraft truely is just like sports in north america this reminds me so much of watching all the UFC's always 10 minuites of drinkability before the first punch.
Hope SC2 can bring e-sports to us.

@mik3p0wer That's why you make a copy of the cd and play off of it. You might want to see if you can find a no cd crack. You won't be able to reinstall the game, but you should be able to play off of your existing installation.
I recently started playing SC. It may be the best game I've ever played. I think I like Terran best.
