Wow, another banger by my favourite youtuber. I cannot begin to express my appreciation for the content you provide. Liked, shared and subscribed to my saviour.
I went my second playthrough with Russian voice-acting. The plague sounds completely different. In English version it speaks in a double voice and sounds like a demon from a horror movie. The Russian version only has the feminine voice and sounds much more like an older, weary woman reading an Orthodox Christian prayer or a Eulogy.
Thanks for the comment. While I had both Russian and English dialogue files, I generally neglected the Russian VA as it would take twice as long to compile into these videos. Would you say there was any noticeable difference in acting-quality between Russian and English?
@@rieux3470 I'm not sure about acting itself but the sound in Russian seems to be a lot quieter than the English. Not sure if it was due to different quality equipment or am I just not used to Russian as I am to English.
@@Srksius2802 Just did a minor comparison myself (though it was only with 2 dialogue files), and funnily enough the Russian dialogue was louder than its English counterpart; though to be fair this could be due to the inflection of their voice.

I prefer the english version. It's so ethereal, nondescript, not bound to any form, is moving and changing and it's mulpitple things, outside of the boundaries of a body, non gendered, bigger than you. Got the same feeling with Dormin from Shadow of the Colossus. It's also very good because it makes you make an effort to listen pass through the creepyness and prejudices you might have without being too obvious, into actually consider the plague's points, which are very true too.
A very subjective matter. For me, a person that knows russian, the russian version is preferable not just because I speak this language. It is in the way they referred to the fact that this plague came from Mother Earth. Also, the gender aspect is crucial too, as the work "Plague" in russian has a feminine gender. Somewhere in the comments, I've also seen a reason for it to be female specifically which is the fact that plague is Syok - pain aspect of Mother Bodho. The english version, imo, sounds like a typical demon. No imagination, just a cliche. Personally, I was disappointed after hearing a few phrases. But again, this is very subjective.
About changing, sorry, but it is repeatedly slow and hm.. only speaking. While russion version is sometimes singing, sometimes gaining speed, and sometimes is more slow, so....
this voice is so much better than the Russian version imo. i LOVE the fact that Clara’s VA voices the Plague, since Clara IS the Plague. it’s PERFECT! i think it would have been really cool if Artemy’s VA did the male vocals, as Clara says to him that HE is the voice of the Plague. and then in the Bachelor route, Daniil’s VA voices the male vocals. and then, finally, in Changeling route, it’s only the female vocals.
IMO it is glamorous, entrancing, magnetic. This is also a archetypal characteristic of the demonic, and as such many of us have been conditioned to dismiss this sort of performance as sounding "generically evil" from its use in bad horror movies, but demonic glamour and fatal attraction are very appropriate characteristics for the plague.
nothing about her sounds demonic? if a disease had a voice, i would expect it to be this low, raspy whisper. and just because she sounds demonic doesn’t mean she IS. most of what she’s saying is pretty neutral, and she’s right about some things.
