Nice video, I've stumbled across your other B58 tear down video and was wondering which Piston Rings you will be using and are you able to hone the engine or will you just use new piston rings without a hone? Mahle seems to have some 82mm Piston Rings that fit the B48 engine according to my research but the B58 seems to have a different part number. Could you help me out on this? Would be really nice as I am rebuilding my engine right now :) Cheers

Our plan will be to use Mahle Motorsport pistons, light hone depending on PTW measurements. B58 Mahle pistons can be found here - www.hackengineering.co.uk/product/mahle-motorsport-powerpak-plus-forged-piston-set-b58/

@@hackengineering5586 Thanks for the reply! I want to use for now the original Pistons as I am not trying to set world records and I am not gonna use race fuel. This will be for my little daily M140i with maybe Stage 1 or mild stage 2 tune. Could you maybe suggest me the appropiate Mahle Piston rings to use? Like the part number? And also what is a PTW measurment? I am from Germany so I am sorry if it sounds dumb but I've never heared of it or maybe in German but it has maybe a different name for it. Will you do the classic Flex Hone or Plateau hone or what it is called :D Sorry as I said trying my best in English x) And what would be the light hone grit? Would be really cool if you could help me out on this. Cheers!

@@OfficialSIRTRAPRELOADED PTW is Piston to Wall clearance. We do not have a piston ring part number on file for Mahle, but the Genuine BMW part number is 11258637991. Our processes may be different due to changing pistons. Our general process with a piston ring change alone would be a 'de-glaze' rather than a full hone. Speak to your local machine shop :)

@@hackengineering5586 Thanks for explaining what PTW means! In that case I know how to measure that and I have access to the BMW TIS for the needed measurements. My engine is perfectly healthy/cylindrical and not oval. I want to de-glaze it too but would love to know which type of hone brush I should select and with which grit. Since it has a LDS Coating many machine shops here don't want to touch it. I can also see the original cross hatch still. And what do you think about re using the old piston rings when the pistons where marked before dissasembly? I mean it should basically work without issues/oil burning right? I just wanted to clean things and renew some stuff before re assembly. Original BMW rings are crazy expensive too. Buying these directly from Mahle is cheaper or from the aftermarket shops usually..

Can similar if not exact upgrades be done on the m135i lci? or is there anything else different that you would do?

Chassis is exactly the same so you can carry out the very same modifications. Perfect recipe, just get in touch if we can be of assistance!

Nice upgrades. What width and offset wheels did you go for?

Thank you - 18x9.0" ET30 fronts and 18x9.5" ET45 rear. Links to these are in the video description.

@@hackengineering5586 Thanks. That's quite a bit wider than stock. Any clearance issues? What tyre size did you go for?

@@breezeracing8015 It's snug, the rear arch liners need a slight trim. Fronts are good, with 3.4 degrees camber (mostly due to the M4 control arms)
