Jameela's face when she finally realizes what Kamilah's art has represented just broke my heart. She's really so good.l I loved how Tahani just thew her arms around her sister, even though she was still handcuffed. Tahani really is a great person under all that superficiality.
I want to believe that Kamilah's reaction was not just letting her emotions out but finally making peace with her sister. Jameela died because of their rivalry, She was her sister so that must have really hurt her emotionally. She must have felt some regret over never making peace with her
Now I'm wondering how Kamilah felt when Tahani died, I mean... she did die in front of her and her final act was an attempt to tear down a statue of Kamilah which ultimately crushed her

I've just noticed that when their dad says "who will be the winning artist" he looks at Kamilah. And when he says "and who will fail" he looks straight in Tahani's direction. It's not that Tahani failed this painting competition and Kamilah won because she was better and that's how their respective roles were decided by their parents. Their roles had already been decided beforehand. Their parents simply wanted them to believe that it was an objective judgement instead of an abusive and subjective choice on their part.

Deep inside they both are lost in the battle caused by the parents. *just in case u forgot, The door represents a room that consists of everyone that has been talking behind Tahani's back her whole life.
It is more likely that Kamilah's door was further up ahead. There were still two doors ahead of her parents' door so Kamilah is one of the very few people who might be more important than her parents
It’s honestly amazing that Tahani never just gave up. It seems like their parents NEVER rewarded her for her hard work or gave her any affection. After a certain amount of time almost anyone would have given up or become rebellious. Instead Tahani just kept trying, I can’t help but give her props for that
The real tragedy is there are a lot of Tahanis in the world. People who know it's not okay how they were treated, know they deserve better, but they still haven't put together how to escape that web. Some people, unfortunately, don't realize things could have been different until much later in life. And in Tahani's case, she died caught in the cycle.
Well, I hope they would die soon in cannon when they can Tahani can see their faces and they would realize that her daughter has been a part of the re-written afterlife points and how to treat them. I would probably ask Shawn to take me in and to smack the awful smirks off their faces.
And they also put Kamilah in the box, expecting her to be the best, telling her that she'd better be better than her sister, while also telling Tahani that she'll never be as good as her sister. As a result both sisters became two different types of self-obsessed, and both were lonely and looking for validation. Yeah, what I'm thinking for their parents is for them to be trapped in a room and only able to say bad things about each other. For each of them to live with the other one criticising them forever, that sounds appropriate to me. What do you think?
@Njx063 Because her parents forced the competition onto them which forced her that way. This resolution is supposed to lead to her changing herself for the better.
Notice how in the flashback their parents shoulders overlap while Tahani and Kamilah stand at a distance just like the shapes in the paintings depicting their family's dynamic. Really great attention to detail!
This was a really great episode - but it was also difficult to watch, because it was like almost all the characters had to try and have compassion and forgive the people that caused them the most pain in life :'(
If you forgive them it means you can move on with your life - because now they have no power over you, no hold. They are now powerless agains you. If you go on hating them they will always have some sway, but if you feel nothing towards them they cannot influence you or your actions ever again.
I love this scene. After how awful we’ve seen kamilah be, and for tahini to understand the root of the problem and just forgive her. But also that moment of tension when you hope kamilah will hug tahani back, despite her history and that warm relief when that rift is mended.
Loved this scene so much! Also, I googled Kamilah because I thought she was so pretty....the girl that plays her is 42! Girl has some amazing genes! She looks like she's in her low 20s.
Maybe now Kamilah can start being a good person not to get attention, but for the sake of being a good person. In the end that’s the only sure fire way to make it to The Good Place.
I love how Tahani still forgives her sister even though her sister acted just as bad towards her as her parents. She chooses to let love guide her to finally mending her relationship with her sister, rather than staying in hatred behind spite.
Hot take: I understand where this apology comes from, but I still feel like Tahani should've been apologized to first. No matter how cruel their parents were to Kamilah, Kamilah still had some say in her actions. She could still have changed slightly for the better and been more empathetic, or at least sympathetic to Tahani. She was unnecessarily cruel to her sister. Kamilah still had some "back up" validation. Tahani had absolutely nothing. She was seen as a failure in both her parents' and her sister's eyes. Yes, Kamilah had the pressure to be perfect, but Tahani had the pressure of not being the constant failure in her family. In addition to that, Tahani had a sister constantly tearing her down, yet Kamilah didn't have to deal with that. Everyone in the family knew, including Kamilah, that their parents would pay hundreds of billions to get Kamilah back, but wouldn't even pay one penny to get Tahani back.
I think both were just used by their parents. I can't blame the children for how they were raised. The only way Kamilah gained her parents approval was by besting Tahani, and once she started she couldn't stop. That's all she knew how to do.
@@Jukeboxster bruh stfu. Same logic applies when someone bullies a person so hard ending up ruining their entire life that they will be tortured forever, but because they were abused by their parents, it's not their fault for bullying someone. Kamilah neglected her sister and made her think she was less throughout her entire life JUST like her parents. K knew she was being abused by her parents that ALWAYS expected her to fail and she never even comforted her like a decent human being does. Instead she made fun of her or ignored her and, like her parents, expected her to fail. I agree that the parenting style of the parents did result in them both being bad people, but that does NOT excuse Kamila's actions. There was no need for Tahani to apologize just because Kamilah wanted a sister. She already had a sister, but didn't take care of her.
In the painting at 1:21, the parents are red and blue, while one of the sisters is purple and the other is black. One of them is like their parents, perhaps more liked, and the other is the black sheep, or otherwise darker than her counterpart. In the painting at 1:24, the parents are yellow and green, two similar colors. The sisters are blue and orange, complimentary colors, but opposites. They're also the closest colors on the color wheel to the parent's colors. In the painting at 1:25, the parent's stars are intertwined, and facing the same direction. They've found a way to coexist and share their achievements, but the sisters are separated and facing different directions.
The first time I saw this scene, I assumed it was a setup for another joke; that Tahani was wrong or Kamilah would just reject her again. But it wasn’t a joke, it was a genuinely heartwarming moment. And I’m so happy about that.
This is definitely going to help Tahani get to the good place. Her constant envy and discord with Kamilah is what landed her in the bad place to begin with.
Honestly I cried watching this scene - which is surprising because there are sadder scenes in this show and I've only cried in this one. I think something about Tahani reconciling with her sister really hit home for me.
kamilah doesn't get off that easy for me. she still in some way went along with what the parents were doing to tahani and still didn't seem to feel bad for it up to present day. Kamilah should have stepped up to Tahani first and hugged and apologized to her.
I mean it's easy to say that watching from the outside but I think she was just trying to please her parents by being the best of the two. She was raised to see Tahani as her competition. If she's past that stage I think it's for the better.
Adama Sanogo I guess I can agree to that to a certain extent, but what about adult kamilah, the kamilah after the parents both died? She stayed being cruel to Tahani.
@@tasha777 Yeah and she's a bench for that. My post was not necessarily to be in opposition with you but just to point out that maybe she deserves a little more compassion. I mean Tahani was a pretentious mess in the first season she too was still poisoned by her parents toxic behavior. It's not like she was a poor victim she was an extremely rich socialite who was doing charity just to look good. She had to die and be tortured for centuries to become that friendly and charming girl we're all rooting for. I just hope she'll keep helping Kamilah.
Adama Sanogo yeah I know you’re not exactly opposing me, and I can definitely give kamilah compassion but I feel as though she had no intention to come to this conclusion herself and apologize to Tahani. Tahani wasn’t completely innocent but to be fair she was the better of the two. I understand where you’re coming from though.
From her point of view, I am sure Tahani won some of these contests and I bet it felt just as antagonizing to her even if Tahani didn't know she won necessarily.
All these characters are SO relatable… I reached out to my own little sister, who I always thought my parents liked better than me… only to find she felt the same way about me… and we now get along way better with each other and forgave our parents.😊
Out of all of the scenes in this show, this is one of the most memorable, all the other characters, their problems were less emotional & more of their choices they made.
I love this scene so much. My twin sister is my best friend ever and for a year we didn’t speak and we hated each other and not having each other made us both miserable. sometimes when we’re fighting I come watch this and I cry like a baby every time.
Yeah, I just wish they got somebody who actually spoke Hungarian for those two sentences. :D Why is it always English speakers just butchering it? (Although, this guy was doing a better job than most.)
Lol I'm Hungarian and it sound like they typed the speech they wanted to be said into Google translate and then added a Italian accent to make it sound more exotic.
FINALLY I was sick of their sibling fighting. I have a sibling and we fight but in the end we’re the only siblings that we have so that’s why we stick together no matter what.
That's what I was thinking, how hard it is to find an actual Hungarian person to do those two short sentences? :D It's always like this, I've never seen a movie where they get an actual Hungarian speaker, it's always English speakers failing at it really badly (eg. Iron Man).
why is tahani sorry for her parents being abusive and Kamilah bullying and neglecting her sister too. Tahani was always mistreated hence the reason why she got into the bad place. She was a VERY self centered person I must say, but her sister was even worse.
I still find it sad that after the Soul Squad got closure with almost everyone important to them in their lives, from those people’s perspectives they disappeared without a trace, lived the rest of their lives never knowing what happened, and only reunited possibly decades later in The Good Place
"Engedi el őket? Ó, milyen kedves ez a Kamilah." But yeah, it always irks me when they can't be bothered to hire a Hungarian speaker to speak Hungarian because you can just always tell.

*just in case u forgot, The door represents a room that consists of everyone that has been talking behind Tahani's back her whole life.
Yep
I never made that connection even after 3 or 4 times of watching it all the way through. Good eye.
It is more likely that Kamilah's door was further up ahead. There were still two doors ahead of her parents' door so Kamilah is one of the very few people who might be more important than her parents
This was beautiful and I love the way Tahani hugged her sister.
Hugging someone with handcuffs grants you a tight hug that is just below the tightness of a bear hug.
Michael Schur is a genius at building up tender moments like these that really hit you in the chest.
We finally got a resolution between them two! Honestly never thought we'd see the day.
khadija I was so happy for them
Young Tahani was so spot on.
Yeah the parents are definitely going to the bad place.....
They’re cryogenically frozen so no bad place for them yet
There will be soon. @@mrcritical6751
Well, I hope they would die soon in cannon when they can Tahani can see their faces and they would realize that her daughter has been a part of the re-written afterlife points and how to treat them. I would probably ask Shawn to take me in and to smack the awful smirks off their faces.
Well SPOILER ALERT: somehow they didn’t go to the bad place
agenttheater5 update they didn’t go to the bad place
Edit: i mean *did* i just don’t normally speak English
Wow. The parents had already placed Tahani in a box, expecting her to fail. How sad.
@@agenttheater5 kamilah is till a terrible person
@Njx063 Because her parents forced the competition onto them which forced her that way. This resolution is supposed to lead to her changing herself for the better.
the arm hoop is a weird hug and i love it
she had handcuffs on
@@casseya9452 lol i watched this many times and always forgot about the handcuff part
Kamilah and Tahani didn't forgive their parents!
I cried so much at this point... it was beautiful to see these two sisters make it up.
YOU GUYS MADE ME CRY TWICE IN AN EPISODE. Why 😭
its a comedy, thats why
The best comedies have the best drama too
I love this scene.
HOW is she 42?! woah
WHAT
@@PurpleMoon799 Haha 44 now.
Excuse me?!?!
I dont think she's as pretty as Tahani though, let's be honest
Maybe now Kamilah can start being a good person not to get attention, but for the sake of being a good person. In the end that’s the only sure fire way to make it to The Good Place.
RoboWatchgirl same as Tahani, they were constantly trying to be better than the other one, now they don’t have to.
MsFriendsfan4ever Exactly!🙂
I love how Tahani still forgives her sister even though her sister acted just as bad towards her as her parents. She chooses to let love guide her to finally mending her relationship with her sister, rather than staying in hatred behind spite.
I loved this episode. It was so satisfying and cathartic seeing a family rift being mended.
I actually cried during this scene. A single tear rolled down my face
I did too
Profile pic checks out
Hot take: I understand where this apology comes from, but I still feel like Tahani should've been apologized to first.
1:07 This young actress is brilliant in imitation! She sounds exactly like Jameela!
It was so beautiful and I cried long🤧
This is definitely going to help Tahani get to the good place. Her constant envy and discord with Kamilah is what landed her in the bad place to begin with.
I want Eleanor's sweet ex boyfriend to make an appearance, he seemed to really care for her in the flashbacks
Just noticed that child actor really has jameela’s mannerisms and way of speaking down, it’s like it’s actually tahani
i love how they alwags find things out, the sad music too.
I watched this scene on loop because I thought it was one of THE BEST scenes I've seen on The Good Place. Made me emotional. 😭 💖
My twin sister is my best friend ever and for a year we didn’t speak and we hated each other and not having each other made us both miserable. sometimes when we’re fighting I come watch this and I cry like a baby every time.
this was definitely one of my favourite moments in the entire show.
i love that michael schur constantly mentions hungary in all of his shows, it’s such a nice easter egg for us hungarians
Yeah, I just wish they got somebody who actually spoke Hungarian for those two sentences. :D Why is it always English speakers just butchering it? (Although, this guy was doing a better job than most.)
For me this was the best part of the episode
i couldnt believe this was tahanis first acting role. i feel like her character was a lil underrated the whole season
this was so heart warming wtf 💖💞💕💗
Never thought I would cry so hard for watching a comedy
It's nice that the sitters forgive each together
Lol I'm Hungarian and it sound like they typed the speech they wanted to be said into Google translate and then added a Italian accent to make it sound more exotic.
It’s surprising to see a British family having a favourite moment in french military history
I LOVE their voices, the whole "family" has such soothing voices.
Kamilah and Tahani making up never fails to make me tear up....
2:27 “Engedi ell öket.” Does not makes sense in Hungarian. It would be like saying “She’s go letting them.” It should be “Ell engedi öket.”
Sweet moments like this are such a Mike Schur specialty
FINALLY
I was sick of their sibling fighting.
I have a sibling and we fight but in the end we’re the only siblings that we have so that’s why we stick together no matter what.
All of my fears are my own again.
idk why but seeing tahani and chidi talk by themselves is refreshing
This episode was the best this season. It gave me satisfaction:$
I loved this, it was a pivotal episode of the season ❤ and it has that music that stings your heart! 😢
“I’m sorry our parents were such wankers” gets me every single time 🤣🤣🤣
This scene actually made me cry
And then you realize that in the ending in s4, Kamilah actually drew an actual painting when she made peace with her parents and tahani.
1:13 the way they look from kamila to tahani when they say who will win and who will fail I-
I want an episode where the four see how people who knew them reacted to their deaths.
this was beautiful, but seriously they couldn't find one person who actually spoke Hungarian to help those extras?
That's what I was thinking, how hard it is to find an actual Hungarian person to do those two short sentences? :D It's always like this, I've never seen a movie where they get an actual Hungarian speaker, it's always English speakers failing at it really badly (eg. Iron Man).
This moment was so wholesome.
Love this moment
why is tahani sorry for her parents being abusive and Kamilah bullying and neglecting her sister too. Tahani was always mistreated hence the reason why she got into the bad place. She was a VERY self centered person I must say, but her sister was even worse.
My fav part of the episode ❤️
This was so wholesome
im a grownass man but the hug scene made me tear up. Whoever thought of the contrast of still hugging while being cuffed is a genius
I still find it sad that after the Soul Squad got closure with almost everyone important to them in their lives, from those people’s perspectives they disappeared without a trace, lived the rest of their lives never knowing what happened, and only reunited possibly decades later in The Good Place
The casting for the young tahani and kamilah were so good here!
I cried when she realized 🥺
My favorite scene from The Good Place ever
For a second I thought kamilah was a chef with that outfit
As a Hungarian this is so funny to watch😂 although after a few watches I still can not understand clearly the Hungarian sentence
"Engedi el őket? Ó, milyen kedves ez a Kamilah."
But yeah, it always irks me when they can't be bothered to hire a Hungarian speaker to speak Hungarian because you can just always tell.
Literally cried while watching this seen
So touching ❤
this is my favorite scene from the good place
In real life, Tahani would be #1 the whole time.
Jon Startop Everyone knows the real hero is Elenor.
I'd like an episode where they confront her parents. Like, her actual parents and not constructs made in the Afterlife to torment her.
Their parents are dead
You got your wish
Sweetest moment of the series
NBC the good place please release the soundtrack listening to this made me cry
this moment was so satisfying to watch
I’ve rewatched the entire good place 3 times there’s nothing new out to watch
This episode was really emotional
Hope we see more scenes of these two now
I can’t be the only one who’s been waiting for this scene
The soul's squad did good though, saving people in the wake of their own damnation? They must have gotten a lot of points once they'll fix the system.
I did cry at this scene. It happens in the real world sometimes, but it showed making up so well..
This made me cry
Ok but chidi is such a mood thru this whole scene
I know this isn't relevant but there is no way those were native Hungarian speakers
The best scene I watched till now :,>
Now this, puts a smile on my face.
2:20 looses her handcuffs for a second there to wipe Kamilah’s tears
