Perfect timing I’ve been using my Klein tools laser temp gun, but I know I need one of these to really remedy things. I plan on air sealing in my attic, high hats/fixtures, fans, and outlets.

i just bought me and my helper the TI290 Klein thermal imager Hi Res + wifi. yea its great troubleshooting tool for electricians and HVAC guys but not for $499 each it was definitely difficult spending $1000 on these two small tools
Would this imager pick up heat sources from a truck’s distribution fuse panel ? From micro , mini , standard and maxi fuses 5 through 50 amp DC fuses ? Also would it be able to image a short to ground on a 12 gauge DC electrical wire ?
I have been looking at one of these. I own a few Klein Tools and have been happy with them. I appreciate you taking the time to show how to read and interpret your findings.

Yes, I specialize din digital electronics, worked at Motorola 9 years, and for 6 years before that worked on some custom gate array chip design, and computer car interface designs.

Hi Jeff, Any idea, is this tool better than Android/iOS cameras from Flir on Amazon? I personally think that specially dedicated separate device is better. Just got one Kobalt from Lowe’s today and it’s kind of slow, small screen and gives bad resolution, so I’m going to return to store. Then recall this your video… Plan to use to verify heat (and possibly water damage) in house. Don’t want to spend much and around $300 is right price for me. Any advice from your side is very appreciated. Thanks in advance, stay safe.
Without seeing the Android versions it's pretty hard to tell but I imagine since they all use infrared they all do a pretty good job I'm happy with this unit
Distance does not seem to be a problem I was about 20' away from those ceiling lights when I aimed the thermal image are up there and capture the images

I bought the Flir that uses my phone for viewing, recording and reporting. I got it to check my electric panel and electric outlets. Paranoid over too much electrical stuff. 😁
I would not expect this to be overly useful as a stud Finder, however it might find the nails or the drywall screws in wood, if the metal is that much of a different color than the wood it might show up

I don’t think you can point it at a window and say it’s 85 at the window…. The emisivity of the window is pretty strange and it’s not going to read right
it always amazes me how shoddy construction is at the home level. It's all about the looks and zero about the function unless you build it yourself or manage the build.
That is correct the builders just want to build something that barely meets minimum code and oftentimes even Fails the building code and I think sometimes the inspectors are doing the inspecting from the street

These work great for custom PC builds when you want to maximize airflow inside a case - find out your hotspots, etc.
