i ended up buying this topdon item. it's orders of magnitude less expensive than the FLIRs we have at work. I already found one roof leak before it became a problem!!!!
If smart circuit breakers were cheaper, an IR camera like this would be a great way to just tell the house which breakers to turn off, while on vacation, or even just sleeping. That would turn outlets off and prevent all that parasitic waste of energy in plugged in, but unsuded devices. I suppose you could do the same thing with smart switches wired to control outlets.
Great review. I just bought one before watching. Bought mine for ghost hunting, another huge asset of the tool. I'm a sceptical hunter even though ive captured some evidence. Im hoping this tool will be more conclusive. Affordability of this technology is a blessing.

probably not. I would assume that low of a draw would not produce much if any heat. Plus it could be inside a component that you would never see either.

TOPDON also has the "plug into the phone" kind. Specs look similar. Can you comment if the 'phone' unit you tried previously was from TOPDON?

So, does anyone know if one of these can be used to locate heat put out by a parasitic draw on a vehicle that is UNDER 1 amp?
