Great podcast, Jill I can relate to your story, and I feel for you. I met my husband at 16 years old, my first boyfriend, he was 3 years older and already an adult. I was so naive for the next decade, and put up with bull. At 18 first baby, 21 second one, still sitting at home with the children, while he went to the clubs. He played in a band. He said " You don't have a babysitter ". And that was that. I'm glad I only gave him most of my teen years and all my 20's. I finally got tired of waiting for him to grow up. Yeah, prince was a jerk to you. Maybe he didn't have a heart at all, as he sang in his song. He said and did you unfair. He probably didn't release your 2nd album because he wouldn't make as much as you from it. He was cruel to you and others. I suspect prince had a lot of heart ache himself from childhood, and needed to make others feel bad. I understand how he messed with your mind. I hope you're doing good, we might need therapy forever. I love prince the music, I can do without the drama, already had my share of it. To me prince is like a romance novel, his songs, the ones you don't hear on the radio are awesome. I think that's how he wished he was, the things he sang about. He just couldn't let himself be that man, too much baggage from his past. Take care, you deserve it.

Jill is one of the best interviewees in music (let alone the purple world).

What a brilliant interview! When Jill talked of having worked with Martyn Ware of Heaven 17, I couldn't help but remember a recent interview Martyn did with David Z (Electronically Yours is Martyn's podcast). In the talk, Martyn talked of them doing a song, FOR LUST that never came out. I wonder if that song is related to FOR LOVE in any way?

At around the 33:00 min mark, what did you say about Wendy and Lisa???

That was me saying I’d found a ‘Wendy and Lisa’ plectrum, which got sent out when I ordered the ‘White Flags of Winter Chimneys’ from their website, and lamenting the fact that despite trying for over 30 years, I still can’t play guitar! 🤣

Jill, I just love you and how you keep it real 💯
You got me teary eyed twice while listening to this podcast. Also, IMO writing a book to tell your story could be therapeutic and healing.
