- Finnish freight train 4059 from Kemira, Siilinjärvi, to Kokkola at Iisalmi station at 22.7.2007. Two non-rebuilt Dv12-class diesel locomotives (2528+2532) start main engines, and freight train 4059 is starting to roll to track 4's northern main signal. I'm sorry for bad quality, because i didn't have tripod when filming this video. (And filmed with pocket digital camera, not with my DV-camcorder, which i didn't have at that moment.) Those two locomotives, which are in the video, are rebuilt now.
Videolla näkyvät kaksi Dv12-veturia on nykyään saneerattu.
thats what we call ...
cranking!! :)
Cool!
many european locos had hydraulic transmissions krauss mafai made a few for the d&rgw in the us. the europeans were often amazed at the american success using diesel electric transmissions
The tricks for good electric drive are weight, wheel diameter, number of wheels (Co-Co bogies instead of Bo-Bo bogies), and a gearing ratio that provides a balance between max tractive effort and max speed capabilities. (Although it varies, some train lines don't need to go fast.)
Some of the modern diesel-electrics use AC motor drives which allows the motors to operate at higher power at lower speeds, and reduces the motor's physical size. (Or rather, a higher power AC motor can be fitted in the same space as a DC motor.)
Some of the modern diesel-electrics achieve nearly 900kN of tractive effort, and use a 4300 to 4400 HP (about 3300kW) diesel engine. (Displacement is around 200 liters, and they usually run with a max RPM of only 900 to 1000)
Also, many of the American diesel-electric locos are equipped with sanders, which can be used to drop sand on the rails (there is a control for this in the cab), improving the tractive effort especially when the rails are wet.
Gotta love the sound of 200+ liter engines roaring! :D th-cam.com/video/_hP8ai_OmnY/w-d-xo.html
nice vid!
oh my god different langude
No niinpä kerrotki tuolla profiilisivullas. :)
Ootko hengis viel?
