I studied in Singapore for 11 years but went back home for good now. There was once when I came back to SG for a visit, and I took a taxi to Changi to return home. The taxi driver asked me "Oh you going for business trip is it?" And I said "No I'm going back home" and he was like "Why you speak like Singaporean?!"
Or another time where I went back to my hotel from my friend's house in Bukit Batok and the Grab driver asked me "Bro you going for your night shift is it".

Privilege due to ethnicity is a sad reality in Singapore. The colonial mentality is holding us back. Why should Singaporeans treat a white person better compared to our locals and other ethnic groups. Personally I treat everyone the same regardless of Ethnicity, Social economic background. Its sad Singaporeans have not changed this Privilege by colour mentality. I mean seriously, Looks whats going on in the US and Europe towards Asians. That is some perspective.
I also think she gets some racist comments like the commenter called her a "colonizer", bruh. so its not all privileges like i confirm would rather stay chinese singaporean if in singapore than be white.
@@Caging101 its not only Singaporean though. We as Asia has this mentality, especially us in the S.E.A. White people are treated better than most locals most of the time. Its not the White person's fault obviously but we need to overhaul our perception of our own people.

She grew in Singapore, was in a singapore school, what would you expect? If she came out with a Sussex accent I would then be surprised. But apparently, she has it under control the same way Singaporean have it under control: speaking English-Singapore officially and Singapore-English with friends and locals.

Exactly! Like anywhere in country. For example in singapore chinese get treatment different from malay or indian. Example even if you mix race, ic put chinese but appearance looks malay still get different treatment. Like one of the experience is they say in interview, "you need to be able to speak mandarin" after knowing you can, the say "oh need to be able to speak and write", again after knowing you can they say "actually we need a chinese worker due to this and that and after knowing you are one they suddenly say not looking anymore but still advertise that they need. So yes, lightet skin always get privileges more.

i mean it's true, Singaporeans get hyped up when a white person speaks Singlish but when an Indian from India or Filipino or Indonesian speaks Singlish well, no one gives a damn.
not just singaporean. all asian are like that. but if an asian live in western countries for decades and can speak english fluently they will still be discriminated! this is why i dislike all white people videos living in asia!!!

I encountered a Swedish lady I was assisting in my line of work. Both of us were professionally communicating and when discussion was finished, she let loose her Singlish to me. I swear, that was the most sexiest thing I heard for a long time. The way she say ‘can lah’ , ‘same also lah’ and ‘anything also can, no problem’ just seems so wow.

"Applauding for doing the bare minimum", you don't pick up Singlish overnight haha, being a foreigner(even if a citizen for 17 years) and able to speak singlish fluently is something not alot of us see everyday.

I just heard about you this year cos I FINALLY GOT TO USE TIKTOK... Anyways, the first time I saw one of your TikTok Videos, it definitely brought joy to me. You had a problem and DEALT with it. I have eczema and people always judge me of the way I look. Not only that, in my primary school a lot of girls would just give me that face of disgust. Thinking if I was containgous. But now in Seocndry school, not a lot of ppl cared about my skin condition. But there will always be a time when your teachers ask you to take off your jacket if I wasn't sick. And EVERYONE IN THE CLASS would just stare and pity you. I HATE THAT FEELING. But since it has already been 8 months, I'm feeling more comfortable and used to all the staring. AND your videos really encourage me to just be myself. AND bc of that, I start writing songs about not giving up so easily ;)

Her accent is kinda American actually. Though she nails the SG grammar and pronunciation
She speaks American English doing the normal interview but she speaks Singlish when doing the Singlish parts. She only does British accent when speaking to her parents.

Privileged Ang Moh in Asia
We African immigrants have it very hard in Europe and the west and have to suffer so much racism all day everyday. This Ang Moh has nothing to complain and has her lucky easy life in Asia
