but how do we crop only one layer? why does the crop tool cut everything on the screen and not just the layer im working on? why am i forced to sit here on youtube and search for such a basic task?

You can crop a layer with the same hack you can use in Photoshop: by masking the layer and then painting out the parts you don't like with black color.

Really helpful, but I can't find any way of cropping just one layer, I have to go into Designer to do that, am I missing something?

How do I reset a crop in the Develop Persona? The reset button is missing in the Develop Persona. Also, I have read that Document > Unclip Canvas supposedly works in this case. But where do I find the "Document" menu? I can't see it anywhere in the Develop Persona. Thanks!

So you can't crop independent objects inside the same document right? Whatever crop you make is going to apply to everything.

Do we have any options to discard all stuff outside the canvas completely?

So awesome! Love that it’s non-destruction. Wondering how to crop an image in a document with other photos, without affecting the document.

I wish there was a checkbox that would limit cropping in too much in the Resample mode and prevent the crop action to upscale the photo and lose details in the process.

If I’m working on an ad layout in Publisher and an image in the ad needs to be resized (resolution), how do I use Photo persona to resize the image and go back to the ad layout?

I would never have thought a video on cropping would make me say WOW so many times.......

Very useful, I have only known a fraction of the options of the tool so far.

In Affinity Photo when you have a image in a rectangle how do you edit the rectangle height or width without stretching or compressing the image inside, Im trying to just select the rectangle and not the image.

Is the resample feature also nondestructive?

Can you do a tutorial on how to add more canvas in Affinity Photo. I know it can be done in Photoshop, not sure about Affinity Photo though.

James: Excellent video. You may want to include a segment on enlarging the canvas with the crop tool. I use the crop tool diagonal overlay to add an equal amount of canvass (background) to all 4 sides. Choose the crop tool and simply drag the corners of the crop box so that the corner to corner diagonals are precisely on top of the photo's corners. That method provides a visually correct addition of canvass size to all 4 sides. It's fast and accurate. Then apply color, gradient or other elements to the canvass to achieve an equal-on-all-sides background for the photo.

4:11 Unfortunately, holding down SHIFT and changing does not respect the current aspect ratio, even in your video.

The problem persists in update 2.3.0

@@radimhorakfoto It works for me in Affinity Photo 2.5.3. So evidently they fixed it somewhere along the way.

@@stevenlitvintchouk3131 I'm using version 2.5.3 and the problem is still the same. Try to crop from 3:2 to the smallest possible.. when I do that I end up from 3:2 to a ratio of 10:1 or similar..
