I totally felt you. Maybe Arthur's death hits because of the way he dies and because Ash didn't want Eiji to see him killing like that. Also Ash didn't really wanted to kill Arthur but he had no choice so ahhh it hurts. This ep in general was really a rollercoaster

17:38 to 17:58, it was never explained in the manga too, but there is a fan theory that Ash's crush (the girl thought to be his girlfriend) was Arthur's sister. It fits with the conversation.
