I run the bnr71 with 4 port injection making 440whp tuned by Alan, stock long block with 72k miles so far. Running 28psi on an E40 blend and it pulls until redline. Super fun and very solid cost-effective turbo, definitely a little on the "laggy" side for your average ST owner, but anything above 4k will pull you good. My car spins 3rd gear on a 50 roll every time. Gapped a Civic Type R by a landslide and was bumper to bumper with my buddy's 500+whp 2JZ turbo Lexus Sc300.
see..this makes me wonder if I am actually at the 500whp mark..I run the XDi HPFP with XDi injectors, upgraded MAP sensor (at the FMIC) and with E60 @36psi, it hauls like a train up top through redline. Three weeks ago I was neck and neck with a 2010-2015 Ferrarir 458 Italia..and i had misfires from my NGKs being gapped a bit too much (which I corrected that night and it ran even better)...while he was trying to catch up both runs behind me, i felt the pops and flames..so at least he got a nice show too 😅 And Ive run down plenty of expensive cars, 2024 X6 M Competition, few C6's, AMGs, Lexus LC500s, etc... they all try to pick on me with my racing numbers and 'tuner' look..and then after 2 or 3 attempts, I just get a thumbs up and Im sure they're humbled by a $23k MSRP hatchback economy car
@@dham99 haha yup, i wish i’d race some more expensive cocky cars too. What turbo are you on? E60 at 36psi definitely sounds like you’d be in the 500 range, assuming you have built internals too hopefully. XDi pump and their 2000cc injectors are also very stout, and can definitely make it to 500 with ease.
I bet you definitely are around 500whp, at 550whp my car spun 3rd and sometimes 4th under 70 degrees, car felt insane and it was only 27psi too. Im gonna be doing a giveaway on brisk plugs, id recommend rr12s from Summit Racing buddy they come gapped at .028" gap them at .022" trust me they wont disappoint.. there way better than ngk
I run the BNR71 with the XDi HPFP/Injectors, cPE FMIC, cat-less dp, full 3" exhaust with only a 14" resonator for drone, 2.3l mustang tb, 3.5tbar map, E60 @36psi. It pulls like a train and has yanked a bunch of 600+ crank hp cars. My initial power level with the RS injectors was low 400whp range and bent a rod on the original engine. Built the bottom end fully, but just rebuilt the head. I'm hoping to be maxed out at the 500whp mark.. but Ill likely not quite hit it and may upgrade to a G30-550 or something to get over the 500whp hump and leave it at that. I def dont make any boost in the 2k RPM range...its lugging even in the low 3k range.. prob peaking around 4k but it pulls hard and consistently to 7200RPM every time. Fighting traction on 60 or 70mph pulls too. For the money, you cant go wrong with these BNR turbos. But if someone is not willing or planning to build their engine, I wouldnt bother with fuel upgrades. maybe RS injectors and leave it be. Playing with fire in the 380-400+whp range if you plan on running it a lot. Im now trying to troubleshoot a phantom boost leak (peaking at 29psi now consistently) and Im thinking the Bosch 3.5bar FMIC sensor is the culprit, but i still have more leak tests to run.
Sounds like a mean machine. Definitely with 36psi boost run a higher FMIC sensor and 5 bar map sensor as OEM is only good for 29 psi. You Definitely got a winner 🎉🎉🎉
Damn yeah you mean the g30-660? Thats a good choice, get the turbo with jimmy elliot he sells them the cheapest. Link:esperformance17.com/collections/frontpage/products/atp-g30-660-turbo-kit-focus-st-2013 Let me know if you need help diagnosing, it could be the throttle body coupler leaking some or the map sensor like you said.
I had the BNR 3071 also and upgraded to the G30-770. You will need a G30-660 at the minimum to hit 500 WHP. I recommend the 770. It spools about the same as the BNR 3071 or a little quicker.
@ yeah it runs a Bosch 3.5bar TMAP with IAT sensor on the FMIC. It hits pretty good. Though I JUST got a boost leak and am only hitting 29psi max and have been leak testing..Im now suspecting a failed MAP sensor and may try to replace it (bought new in Sept). I was 'so' close to getting it dynoed and this crap hit me.. hashtagRaCeCaR 🥴
Yeah it depends on elevation, boost , tune and setup too. My videos shows the beginning to peak spool ranges which is more than 20psi generally since people run more than 20psi typically.

Id like to try a big boy pump from them or nostrum full e85

Yeah definitely the 770 is a great turbo for sure with plenty of headroom

Alan did a video 2867 20 psi at 3200, 3071 20 psi at 3400

Great video. The explanation of each turbo characteristics such as spooling range and hp limits is spot on 🏆🏆
Appreciate it
I didn’t chose this turbo mainly because of the adapter elbow. It just seemed wrong. I like my Garett G25-550, it was the newest 😂
Yeah i do agree on the design setup for this kit, its definitely not favorable but its cheap for people wanting more hp than a k03.
Bro are you close by I bought the bnr2867 need help putting it on
Where do you live? Im in vermont
@ California city Hawaiian gardens 90716 I think your a bit far out
Yeah unless you wanna fly me out id help you then haha 😄
I had a shop in cypress do my BNR71. He knows the STs well.
Yeah i gotta help someone local because no shop in vermont will do his timing kinda insane. This place sucks lol
