It's funny how you can forget 90% of the story of a game after close to 20 years but still vividly remember the music once it starts playing...and this game had great music.

    First RPG I ever played.
My sister and me got this game as a Christmas present when we were 6 and 9 respectively. We both ended up with the flu shortly after. My parents connected our SNES to the TV in their bedroom so we could play it whilst staying in bed for a week. Ended up calling Nintendo’s hotline several times because we were stuck. Such fond memories of this game!

  • @Maxime_Martyr

Players who dislike this game do because they compare it to main Final Fantasy games, they don't understand that Square created this game as a spin-off to try a different approach of Final Fantasy, they created it to be kind of a Legend of Zelda by Square, and they named it Final Fantasy because they hoped that this simplified RPG would spawn some interest for RPGs from people who were never interested in RPGs and bring them to become interested in other games harboring the same name "Final Fantasy", you understand the strategy?
Also, players criticize the shallow story told by this Final Fantasy but it is actually smarter than they think because this game actually makes fun of Final Fantasy stories.
This story starts with a random sage who tells you a random prophecy out of nowhere that the world is about to end because of some random evil forces and you happen to be the only one person in the whole world who can save the day for no reason. In order to fulfill the prophecy, you have to collect elemental crystals, just like in every other Final Fantasy game, it is always the same pattern and this game makes fun of it, which makes it actually the smartest of Final Fantasy games, the one who makes fun of how every Final Fantasy follows a same pattern.
Then as soon as the random sage is done giving you a purpose, he wishes you good luck and leaves you to save the world alone.
The hero keeps looking at the player and shrugging shoulders as if to say "Whatever, don't ask questions.".

This game belongs to the first games for SNES I´ve noticed and played when I was a child. I loved the music and seriously I remember having problems to defeat the frozen giant;). From my current point of view it´s an entertaining easy game, not huge, but amusing. And I still like the music very much.

This is more like it. There's a TAS one out there that was not at all fun to watch. I like this game a lot. I thought it was a bit weird compared to the others when I first played it as you had to go in a straight line, but there was still special things to find and battle techniques. The music was awesome too! I think I first played this back in '95 but not sure. I'm pretty sure this came out after U.S.'s Final Fantasy II (Japan's IV) and before III (Japan's VI).
