A breath of fresh air. Most Ytubers have shoehorned LIVE into a EDM can. Its a DAW.... capable of ANY genre. Nice work... great video... catchy song. Thanks!
This is perfect first ableton video I've seen without wanting to give up or kill myself. you're funny and you don't take it to seriously and that really helps.
actually using ableton to record punk rock is in itself pretty freaking punk :) it's been linked all into EDM but if you can make it work then props to you!
See this is the kind of thing I'd like to see when I look up Ableton stuff, this shows me better than any tutorial what is possible with Ableton without diving into deep details that make me want to poke my eyes out before I start screaming. Great video man!
I don’t know how many times i watched this video. It is really inspiring my mate. Every ableton tutorials on youtube looks same except this one. Keep up the good work!
this is one of the most helpful ableton videos i've seen! made me very excited to get started. there's so little content geared towards this genre in ableton and this is exactly what i was looking for
Seriously great video! I laughed, I cried, I called my Mom. All in all, an excellent and informative video. You have a great talent and personality that shines through. This is the first video I have seen of yours but I am a subscriber now and can't wait to see more. You've inspired me, so keep up the great work! p.s. Great lyrics and little tune you have there.
This is SUCH a helpful video thank you so much! I also love how you go "and we're gonna choose dynamic because we don't have money for that condenser mic, right, we're gonna play punk rock", it's true though and that kinda stuff is part of the genre, the sound just needs to be kinda dirty and crappy! Also very relatable bass jokes and style in general. This video is purely great!
@@JulianGrimmMusic Awesome! Looking forward to that. I learned and laughed and that's the best way to learn anything. You've got a good sense of humor, part of what got me to subscribed as well, so keep being you. Love it!

Earned yourself a sub, mate. Amazing video. I'm moving into music production now as a new hobby and this video gives me confidence that I will soon be able to make my own songs with a little more learning.
Good stuff Julian! I was wondering, now that you're pretty much the only YT channel I've found who uses Ableton to create songs that aren't just pop or rap, I have a burning question I've been trying to seek the answer to for months now, and I hope you can be my savior in this regard. If I wanted to create a distorted effect on the vocals, similar to something that Jack White and Royal Blood does on some of their tracks to name a few examples, how would I go about that? Perhaps something for a future video, If I may dare to hope? Good day!
Brilliant ! Exactly the kind of vid I needed. And fun as hell btw ! You won another suscriber to your cause btw. Question : is Ableton live the lite version that comes for free with many usb interface ? Keep up such good videos about punk recording !
Thank you! Yeah they used to give Ableton Live Lite for free with many interfaces. I think they just have a free version on their website now that you can download. It's called Ableton Live Intro.
@@JulianGrimmMusic Nice ! I hope finding as much features as you showed cause I didn't know it had an amp emulation in it. I just got a Komplete sound interface which provides the full guitar rig software for free though, in case you knew someone interested. Cheers and thanks for your answer !

No… unfortunately they are mostly in Ableton Suite, but yo can do a lot of stuff with ableton lite and some free plugins!
Try Steven slate drums free for drums and cypress tt-15 guitar amp sim for guitars

Can someone explain the difference between a 'double' and a backing track?
Backing track is the instrumental of your track. A double is an extra take to add a thickness to the original sound.
3:40 hilarious.
