I loved the dance party the best!!! Penn Charles really has the moves!! I joined the laughter when Kim was doing the water fountain!! Hysterical!!! Thank you for the laughter!
I'm older. And I still navigate without GPS. I shop Fargo, ND. Which is about the size of Raleigh. I never look. However, the city has grown and I'm not good with the new parts of town. Thankfully, the city kept the same numbering system so it works.
This is an amazing idea. Congratulations! We have had shorter periods of this in my home. Mostly for the kids. :-) I don't know if I would be able to survive a digital diet. I work in technical support and spend my life administering computers and digital devices. It would be good, I think, to have 48 hours without technology. Perhaps during Christmas vacation. Thanks for the videos! Keep up the great work!
+Greg Corley I totally recommend it. It was such a wonderful time. We are trying to disconnect after 5pm and just focus on the kids and homework and family time. It doesn't always work -- but we learned a lot from this.
The Holderness Family In your defense though, it would've been awfully boring if you had just TOLD us what was going on as opposed to us SEEING it. My wife, 15yo daughter, 4yo son, and 3yo daughter love watching your videos!
hello friends This was interesting. They had actual human conversations and they paid close attention to what the children were doing. I think the bicycle riding practice was much better quality because Penn was totally focused on the present moment.
There's a lot of evidence suggesting that older people are more susceptible to these devices. They don't cope with "screen addiction" as well as kids probably because they didn't grow up using them. You're obviously more used to them and that might be a good thing... But anyway congratulations!🙌
I applaud you for doing it, especially because of your kids who have been surrounded by it their whole life. I am really old-fashioned concerning technology, although I am only 27 years old. I have no smartphone, my cellphone survived a tractor and is 15 years old. I can text single texts and phone someone when needed. I have no phone at home. I own one laptop to check my mails and a radio for the kitchen and recently we got a TV. And that is all I can think of which can be labelled as digital.
Every once in a while, I do a 3-day silent retreat at a Jesuit Retreat House in Colorado. No phones or other tech allowed. It's bliss as you live communally with everyone, but don't speak. The walks are beautiful and peaceful and the naps are amazing. The only real "tech" is the one clock in the dining hall so you know what time meals are. I imagine you could bring an analog little clock for your room, but I love losing track of time. It's daytime... off to explore the grounds. It's nighttime... time to make some tea and go sit in the library and read! For someone who works digitally and online, these retreats are so re-energizing!
I’m like penn I can’t fall asleep without hearing or reading or watching tv I need somthing my brain won’t just fall asleep by itself it needs somthing to soothe it to sleep lol
I absolutely could not be without my technology lol.Kudos to you guys for doing it though! Saw my first holderness family show on up tv the other day.Pretty cool :)
DUDE ! You guys are officially on my fave things list. I love your vids and much like Herpes in highschool I'm spreading you guys everywhere! God bless your beautiful family. I would soooo watch a weekly show with you guys.
They hooked the landline up. We still have them in our house. My nephews don't understand how we still use landlines. I know it's horrible but hey when the powers out which phone still works an doesn't need to be charged.
Lola at the dance party looks like she just got back to the Future from being a go go girl in the 1960s on the TV show Roland and Martin's laughing in.
Awesome challenge. My daughters preschool does this challenge for a whole WEEK! My 4 year old was ok with it but my 11 yr old daughter was beside herself. LOL I think everyone should have a family game night. :-) Love you guys!
Amazing what happens when you disconnect from electronics. My kids talk to each other and play together and are actually out of their bedrooms. I would love to go back to flip phone era, no digital screens or ipads.
I don't have a cell phone. Never got one. It is weird how quickly people became addicted to them. People used to make a grocery list but in your video you didn't seem to even think of that.
hi guys, I 'm from Brazil , great video. Excellent idea , nowadays people seem to be sick for technology , it seems a joke, but it is something very serious
First, find a copy of "The Joy of Cooking". It will let you know how to prepare almost anything. Second, purchase some books. Especially books that you will read, and re-read because the stories are old friends. Their is nothing quite like holding an actual book in your hands to read. Buy some board games. Some classics like Monopoly stand the test of time, but their are many new games that are very fun to play. Many 20- and 30-somethings have regular game nights in their homes for their regular groups of friends. I am not technology adverse, but I refuse to be ruled by it. My not-smart cell phone is in the console of my truck, turned off. It is there in case I have an emergency.
Everybody should do this on a regular basis to prevent from becoming disconnected with hard reality pre satellite/internet no pun intended. It's a cold turkey can't function conjunction junction what's your function situation. I need a fix man !!! Stage 2 fireplace and flashlights only.
That is an awesome idea! Technology had such great uses, but is very over-used and abused these days. By both adults and children. Yesterday I forgot my cell phone at home and left for work. 11 hours working on a computer, but I still felt a little lost without having my cell phone within arms reach. I'm a bit paranoid about being reachable in an emergency situation, like while driving. But everything was just fine!
God I remember the last time I had a full digital diet or lifestyle actually and it was in middle school, I didn't even have a flip phone, and I would go outside all the time or draw or read a lot and now I'm 27, a working adult and wouldn't be able to survive a digital diet
Suggested this to my husband, he stared at me, blinked and said “but it’s football season”. 😂🤣😂
Eileen Welter lol
Try it now not as much football anymore
My mom suggested this and my dad said “****** NO!!”
I find it funny how while they have no electronics I am watching this on my electronic device
Helen Elgie That is so true!!!
Helen Elgie yea
Same
Yeah
Same!!!!!! :)
I loved the dance party the best!!! Penn Charles really has the moves!! I joined the laughter when Kim was doing the water fountain!! Hysterical!!! Thank you for the laughter!
I know I'm 5 years late, but Penn Charles is so ADORABLE!
They don't deserve 517k subs
They deserve 100000! Let's get them more!
I just subscribbled...!
Ty!
Xd true -3-
Loved the dance party/contest! The digital diet could be fun and I would read the whole time. Which isn't much different than usual though.
I'm older. And I still navigate without GPS. I shop Fargo, ND. Which is about the size of Raleigh. I never look. However, the city has grown and I'm not good with the new parts of town. Thankfully, the city kept the same numbering system so it works.

that's a great idea! I should try that as well for Christmas and Christmas Eve
+Greg Corley I totally recommend it. It was such a wonderful time. We are trying to disconnect after 5pm and just focus on the kids and homework and family time. It doesn't always work -- but we learned a lot from this.
@@theholdernessfamily It's really important to disconnect. I wonder if you could do it again.. kind of a "five years later"
That “ah” after pen Charles drank water sounded so refreshing
ZERO technology... except for the cameras... hahaha
+Stephen Nesbit Ha! so true!
The Holderness Family In your defense though, it would've been awfully boring if you had just TOLD us what was going on as opposed to us SEEING it.

Exactly what I was thinking
For some reason I want to drink some Aquafina water.
Omg same
I wonder why 🤯
hello friends This was interesting. They had actual human conversations and they paid close attention to what the children were doing. I think the bicycle riding practice was much better quality because Penn was totally focused on the present moment.
Curious, where did you find the recipe for crepes?
+A Griffiths Life Vlogs 100 days of Real food cookbook.
A Griffiths Life Vlogs
Lol my mom makes them as kinda a family recipe
cook books
It's ironic because without technology we wouldn't be able to watch this video...

@@eliseschwieterman6256 true!
They used technology to MAKE THE VIDEO. LOL.
Although, I guess filming their weekend is a little different than WATCHING videos.
I am 13 and I was the only person in my family who made it.🤦🏻♀️
Good job!!!
Lol
Omg lol

Uh oh, you just reminded me, I need to pack for our camping trip! I'll have my cell phone, but no AC, TV, proper bed...for a whole week.

This is so awesome!!!🥰
They actually do have electronics! Their camera! 😱 😂
Wow. The kids look so different. (Hardly surprising, since it's 2021 now and 6 years is a long time for growing up but wow.)
I absolutely could not be without my technology lol.Kudos to you guys for doing it though! Saw my first holderness family show on up tv the other day.Pretty cool :)
Awesome idea! We are for sure going to try this. Maybe make it a one-weekend-a-month thing!
Watching this makes me feel like I'm missing out because my brother can't speak as he has severe autism.

That would be impossible for my family

Yea
The bad thing about that is what if there is an emergency and you need to call 911 it would take you a lot longer to get to your phone
They hooked up land line

Well they had the phone on the table that has a dial
That's why we still have a landline.
You guys should do a digital diet in quarantine
Yea!
Me waching in quartine when you are doing all of these............
I couldn't do this in quarantine! To hard!
4:39 huh? Me and my family never use GPS. Like, ever.
Who knew that the game would soon be sold
Only problem with this is then you lose views! So then you lose money!
Ginny Weasley what?
My favorite part is when Lola decorates penn this would be a nightmare for me especially during quarantine
Now I see where the idea for your board game started. :)
Lola at the dance party looks like she just got back to the Future from being a go go girl in the 1960s on the TV show Roland and Martin's laughing in.

When they were talking about the water program thing, I started drinking Gatorade XD
I would soo request this to my family but only my dad and i would make it! My moms whole job is on her phone! I bet it was fun for you gyse!

lol
we really need to do this!
How did you film this if there's no technology?😋 you guys are amazing
Basically a camera is technology
I wish I were them so badly
Meanwhile I'm watching this at 2:00 am
How did you film it though? Because you're talking into the camera during the no tech time
That’s a lot of devices
I have my tablet and that’s it
No phone until I’m fourteen
Also great video!!!
How did they record this then?

I wish everyone would do this for at least a year. People were smarter before the internet.
Where did you find the crepe recipe? Just curious.
I might just do this with my family
If my parents did this they would go into hibernation
