I love the actual kingdom aspect of the characters like Sir Shakes a Lot is a knight and Duke of Doubt is a Duke. All parts of a kingdom. They should bring these guys back and make the restaurants look like a castle!
I was born in 1978! I love these classic Burger King Commercials with the very handsome and talented actor who portrayed the Marvelous Magical Burger King with his magic ring and the classic songs, and fantastic puppets, costumes, crown and boots! Thank you for posting and sharing this terrific compilation of these classic Burger King commercials!

The very handsome and extremely talented actor and singer who portrayed the marvelous magical Burger King in 1977 and in many others was the best Marvelous Magical Burger King! The one who did his own singing! Can't understand why they replaced him! I was born in the late fall of 1978. Thank you for posting and sharing this!
Been 50 years and I still find myself singing the Burger king song. Loved the old and the new king. When they stoped the king I stopped eating there food for the most part.
I remember watching Burger King's "Burger King Kingdom" commercials very well during Saturday morning cartoons when I was very young. The evil Duke of Doubt looks like a cross between Phil Collins and Quentin Tarantino. It is sad and odd when The Marvelous Magical Burger King returned not the same, but with a smiling mask in the mid-2000s.
Seriously. . . Why Don't they make him an ACTUAL Person again INSTEAD OF A CREEPYA** MANNEQUIN?!!! Seriously. . . they've been using the same Creepy Mannequin since the 2000s; and it's STILL Just as Creepy 20 years later!!
These ads are absolutely wonderful. Why in the world did Burger King stop using these characters and this format? Both BK Kids and the Creepy King were completely awful. I never wanted to eat at Burger King due to them, but these terrific ads actually make me want to eat at Burger King. These ads are just fantastic. I simply can't understand why Burger King stopped using them.
+SeaOfTides The BK kids tapped into that whole "radical 90s" thing, Kid Vid and his gang weren't that bad. And if the Creepy King stops you from enjoying a whopper, which is THE greatest fast food hamburger on the planet, i'm sorry for you.
SeaOfTides How do vintage commercials barely featuring any food make you want to eat at Burger King? Some people are so easily manipulated lol. No offense, I'm just flabbergasted
BK had the best prizes.I remember having a nifty-looking likeness of "The King" that perched on top of my pencil and a flute and a frisbee that were both shaped like pickles. Eating the delicious whopper and getting that particular week's prize was the highlight of my fifth-grade year ('78-'79). It's been 35 years, but all the characters (and the jingles too) came back to me in a few seconds. Sweet memories!
1:31 I like that lady magician’s outfit. Also, these old commercials are pretty charming, I don’t remember them since they were either before my time or I’m not old enough to remember them.
Thanks for posting these. It was my Late 70's-Early 80's teen days,I remember seeing those ads then for real.By the time I reached my Senior Year in High School in Escanaba,Michigan,it finally got a BK in town!.
That one ad with the unicycles is interesting - BK was on to a new slogan, and still used the 'King and the Duke of Doubt! The other characters seem to have been retired by that point, too. Again, LOVE this stuff!
This is all I ever needed out of my fast food childhood. Simple plastic toys for minutes of amusement. What do kids have today? Stupid smartphones with mind-numbing apps that send their photos to total strangers. Also, The Marvelous, Magical Burger King and his Burger Court should make a comeback now that McDonaldland is basically out of the picture.
There are a few BK commercials I remember that I haven't found yet on youtube: 1) First two appearances of the Duke of Doubt 2) First appearances of Burger Thing and Wizard of Fries 3)The Wizard of Fries geting the Duke's goat 4) The Burger King walks on walls 5) The Duke's birthday 6)Burger King: "I'll be right down with my magic rope!" 7) "A fiendish plan the Duke devised; he tried to get those shakes and fires!" I'm sure here's others but I can't remember them all.
I remember seeing a few of these, I was born in 1976 ..by the mid 80's the burger king as a real guy was over...it was another dozen years or so until the king was shown again and then it was that scary fiberglass guy we think of now.
Thanks for these video's, got a kick out of them. I haven't seen these since I was a kid and this cracked me up. Tell me you at least own the Burger King doll? I can't believe that even people I grew up with don't even remember this stuff. Do you have any commercials with the robot character they had too, his name was the Wizard of Fry or something?
I do have the Burger King doll sitting on my bed! I have quite a bit of other Burger King items featuring these old characters as well. The Wizard of Fries makes a brief cameo in two of the commercials in my compilation but so far I haven't been able to find any other commercials featuring him. Glad you enjoyed this video!
I was so sure that the King was played by former Red Sox third baseman Wade Boggs back then, found out it wasn't - and every time I saw his (King) face I was creeped out totally! LOL
Looking back, these ads are so cheesy. But thank you for sharing them! (also, thank you Burger King, for getting rid of those uniforms - and those doofy yellow and orange hats before I worked there). ;)
Burger King Kingdom - Burger King's answer to McDonald's McDonaldland. In the Burger King Kingdom, the Magical Burger King serves a dual purpose: The King entertains the children who visit his kingdom, much like Ronald McDonald does, when the children visit McDonaldland. The King is the leader of the Burger King Kingdom as its king, much like Mayor McCheese is the leader of McDonaldland, as its mayor.
I don't understand why they used that weird King for Burger King, instead this more pleasant magical rhyming king in the 70s commercials. No wonder they don't do so good nowadays. The old Duke of Doubt is less creepy than the New Burger King.
About half of this seems to be genuine sleight-of-hand, the other half is camera tricks. I like that combination. .... I actually had Burger King for dinner tonight, before starting to watch these commercials. It's not the same as it was then, somehow.
I had remembered the Duke of Doubt being more of an evil character, but looking at these commercials with fresh eyes, I now see that he was really more of an asshole rather than evil.
I am going to tell several people about this video to prove to them I am not crazy! I mention the Burger King even to people my age and they don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
The "Burger King" visited the newly opened location in our neighborhood back in 1976 and performed a magic show on the back of a truck that opened into a stage. A friend of mine was chosen to go up on stage as his assistant, and whenever BK would ask a question, he would quickly whisper the funny answer that was written for it so my friend could announce it to the audience.
I remember one of these that I had been looking for the longest, where the Duke was trying to ruin one of the King's tricks with a pie. That one to me was hilarious but so far I hadn't found it. 0:20 Was that the kid that played Dudley on Different Strokes? Thanks for sharing these.
Hmmm I know a certain someone who's experienced with talking about obscure characters, he even has a review show for them. Perhaps it'd be a good idea to tell him about it. It shouldn't take long to make a show about these characters given how long they were around.
I was born just barely too late for this amazing campaign...it's a shame. Also... 11:42 and especially 6:36 Those will never come back thanks to the choking hazard hysteria.
I don't mind the 'Creepy King' but they're going to have to wig it up to be at McDonald's level of characters that even they deserted. Maybe bring back DOD, shake a lot was crap, but they should replace him with Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Raisin Bran Sun for breakfast, Queen of Fries, Flap Jack, Prince Jr. Get an All Star cast.
Can you imagine these Burger King characters collaborate with hello kitty and friends for the special Burger King collaboration with special kids meal toys and merchandise and a kuromi slush and Sanrio themed menu items?
"Watch me kids, when I twist my ring, like magic WE'RE ATBURGER KING!" That ring would work perfectly for kids with overprotective parents, so the King could aid in their escape to a forbidden realm of magic, food and fun...of course the feeling of liberation would be sadly temporary, cos kids have to go back home and be hurt by mom and dad....again...And the real clincher: when mom and dad explain WHY this Burger king seems....dangerously pervy, shall we say?
At least mcdonalds included crayons in their coloring pages. "You don't have to pay for anything!" ... "Brush not included." Well, you have to buy the brush if you don't have one lol
Sadly these commercials did not at all prepare us for nightmarish hellscape forming below our feet. I twist my ring now and I go nowhere. Please King come take me away...
Do you have the commercial where the little boy is walking through a yard and the grill starts talking to him? I’m the little boy that would be awesome!
I just cancelled my internet subscription...wait, Thanks Burger King... the commercial I was searching for was an east coast Pita sandwich comm, and the big gloot says "Pita (Peter) He;s a nice Guy" Like Mafia fat guy LOL
NONE of the other BK ads I've looked up have the Duke of Doubt. Those spots must have done well enough to go head-to-head with McDonald's, we could use that kind of competiton, especially In This Day And Age of having to decide 1/8 of one's wages per diem against a salad for lunch with the coworkers, 2 jugs of milk, Three Hundred miles of fuel, 2 loaves of bread, ONE 4.6 inch baguette sandwich containing just meat and cheese, 4 Powerball tickets, 1.84 percent of 2 In-N-Out Double Double combos, or something lke 64.48 kronars
I love the actual kingdom aspect of the characters like Sir Shakes a Lot is a knight and Duke of Doubt is a Duke. All parts of a kingdom. They should bring these guys back and make the restaurants look like a castle!
I had forgotten all about Count Quagmire.

Dude the old King was a pretty cool mascot, I wish they'd actually bring him back.
Same, I love him!
I Agree; Better this fun & Innocent King from the 70s & 80s; then a Creepy Mannequin Mascot that's a creepier version of the Classic Burger King
@@New3DSLuigi364 But not as creepy as this th-cam.com/video/f81xZtEfpws/w-d-xo.html&feature=share

I like that every kid gets a toy prize, and not just those whose parents buy a kid’s meal.
See, Burger King? You used to be able to make commercials that weren't creepy.
whats wrong with the ones right now
At least they brought back the Magic King.
These are pretty goddamn creepy
uhhhh?
I like how you went from an actually entertaining mascot to hey kids come into my van and get some chicken fries
When I was a kid I loved getting up early every Saturday mornings to watch cartoons and to see those Magic Burger King commercials.
They made it look like going to Burger King for fast food was about the most fun anyone could have. McDonald's did the same thing. Good times.
Glad that I found this!! Brings back lots of memories, as a kid!!
I remember watching them during the commercial breaks for Captain Kangaroo as well as Saturday cartoons
This is a great collection of Burger King Commercials.
Hello. Do you have a copy of the Mr. Rogers impersonator commercial from 1984?
Tom Gellert that existed!?

You're welcome! I'm very attached to these characters and I think it's a shame that most people don't know them.
Nice. At around 0:20 in is that Shavar Ross, the kid that played Dudley (Arnold's best friend on Diff'rent Strokes)?

Too much of anything, even something you love, can be annoying. However, I do miss the old BK menu/prizes and their advertising campaign.
I also had that pencil topper, along with many BK giveaways.
1:31 I like that lady magician’s outfit. Also, these old commercials are pretty charming, I don’t remember them since they were either before my time or I’m not old enough to remember them.
For a corporate mascot the Magic Burger King seems like a pretty earnest and sincere guy

The weeping willow tree reminded me of the trees from McDonald's commercials.
See those last few commercials show the right way of teaching kids to be active with fast food mascots
I don't even remember some of these commercials from childhood!
Same. Where these from an alternate universe?

I like how most of the early burger king commercials had nothing to do with burgers.
I always got a big kick out of the Duke of Doubt getting his comeuppance! I LMAO when he ended up in the juke box!
"If you can do magic, make me a shake!" Says the Duke of Doubt to the King! And the King did just that!
It would have been cooler if they made Burger King look like a castle

a real dick in every sense
+Marc Wallace The Dick of Doubt!

calling the Duke "evil" is really stretching the term.
I am going to tell several people about this video to prove to them I am not crazy! I mention the Burger King even to people my age and they don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
I asked my class once if they remembered the Burger KIng, and only a woman my own age knew.

With the McDonalds and Buger King commercials they had you'd think Wendey's would have some characters too.
I was born just barely too late for this amazing campaign...it's a shame. Also...

Those will never come back thanks to the choking hazard hysteria.
Why do I get the feeling that the Burger King and the Duke of Doubt are crossovers of Ronald McDonald and Captain Crook?
