I just checked the value of $.25 ( hourly wage paid to a production line worker in 1938). It is $13.94. For a youngster saving his or her money to buy a Marx car just before World War II that would have been a hefty purchase. The World was still in a Depression! The mirror on the searchlight car is very effective!
Those millatary cars are awesome! I’m trying to get a cheap 500 army train.😅 also, I have that same Marx 3000 but in worse condition, it kind of works? The e unit works but the wheels get no traction, i don’t need to order traction tires, I can just put a rubber band on the wheels😮
@@daveclarklumber Ohhhh, ok, mine didn’t come with weights. But I’ll try that once I get some! Thanks🥳 I’m trying to not make this too long, but I did a cleaning of it disassembled and when it runs it stinks. I’m a newcomer so any advice would help, but I assume it’s over heating, and I’m not sure how to fix that.
@@daveclarklumber sorry for all these replies, but I won a mercury,898, and an American Flyer engine with a car for the mercury, and tons of track, and I’m just really happy!😁
I love this. I have a Marx CP Passenger car set with the original box.
A great video. Thank you for doing this series on Marx.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Excellent video! Where did you find the military caboose?
Don’t remember if I bought it directly from the Flynn’s or a dealer. Possibly eBay. It’s been over 20 years!
Thanks for the feedback!

Some of the CP locomotives came with weight. You can also check to make sure the center rail pickup has light tension.
