Potential Spoilers for Multiverse of Madness: Last year WandaVision kicked off the MCU’s mind-blowing cameo reveal era, otherwise known as phase 4, with the introduction of the Fox X-Men’s Quicksilver. The Evan Peters original recipe cinematic speedster meeting his sister from another universe in Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was a tantalising glimpse into what potential could be mined from having the already established cinematic X-men fold into the MCU. Here's why the appearance of the old school X-Men in the MCU would work better than starting from scratch.

After the villains are sent back they create a new branch timeline which Loki does explain so if they do the same for wolverine there’s a version of Logan that still dies at the end of Logan

introducing the new gen x-men into the mcu would not even break the continuity but fucking obliterate it. dark phoenix is set in 1992. the new spiderman is set in 2024. James McAvoy's and Michael Fassbender's Characters would be 92 and 95 years old in a current timeline mcu movie. this won't work without literally everyone (including you and me) complaining. that's why the reboot has to happen. of course they could use timey wimey stuff but who really wants retcons to write the stories? that's just bad writing as you said yourself sometime ago i think. sure they could use some of the same actors for the same roles which would be great but would confuse the shit out of a casual viewer. that's why we don't get nice things.
also... "we brought back jean grey... ...only to refer to them never again" i think you missed a movie in 2019 lol
p.s. i think you're 2-3 years late on a video like this. this is already part of the pipeline for 5 years or something.

honestly as someone who loves Fox X-Men more than some of the MCU films, I feel like a clean reboot is what Marvel should do for a MCU version of X-Men. it's a healthier option than taking most of the Fox-Men canon and actors and importing them to the MCU. unless they have a retcon and give the actors comic accurate development and better scripts to work with.
since that's the main issue Garfield's Spider-Man or Cavill's Superman struggled with too. they were perfect for their roles, but they were held back by the piss poor management by the higher ups of these franchises. honestly if anything, Marvel could have some of the actors onto Multiverse of Madness or a potential Secret Wars film, and that could be their final conclusion of those versions until they pass the torch to the actors that take over. but to be fair if Marvel ends up picking certain actors to stay, then I would welcome that with open arms the same way i'd welcome recasting tbh. X-Men being in the MCU is gonna be a win either way for me.

Fortunately, the foxmen received a 20 cinematic year run and gave us some great movie (and some duds), but i think that the era has come to an end with aging actors and depletion of content. I think we need a reboot. As much as I would love to see the original cast, I think if you're just going to pick and choose characters, it's going to get messy, and the actors aren't going to put in the hard yards to pull it off.
Patrick Stewart might be fine to come back for a cameo in one movie, he's not going to sign on for another ten year contract in the MCU at his age.
I'd rather just a fresh take on the X-Men. The only character that should stick is Deadpool because he's his own little universe anyway.
As much as I saddens me, they should recast Wolverine too. Hugh was perfect, but I don't think it's a good idea for him to come back. Maybe in a cameo... maybe, but not for a movie.

This is definitely going to be a case of "you can't make everyone happy." Every fan should accept right now that Marvel is going to make choices you don't like.
I do agree with most of your points and totally get where you're coming from. I actually hadn't heard that Patrick Stewart would be in MoM. But. The thing is, as much as we may all hate to admit it, all of these actors are getting old, and if the last 2 years have taught us anything it's that no one is immortal. Stewart is 81, Snipes is about to be 60, Grammer is 66. And you know Marvel isn't going to want to bring those characters back for just one movie, and they're getting a little too old to reliably sign on for 5 movies.
Then what happens if say, Ty Sheridan is interested in coming back, but Sophie Turner isn't?
Throughout its highs and lows, I definitely think that Fox did a great job of casting, for the most part (I think Lawrence and Hoult were miscast). But logistically, I think it just makes more sense to reboot it.
That being said, Deadpool is a big exception, because of his 4th wall breaking. I don't want Logan to come back, because the movie was a perfect send off for him, but Keen should absolutely come back as Laura.

I would love to see the scale of the X-men characters adjusted to be a little more accurate. It feels like the movies tried to make all the heroes feel just as important... and that really isn't always the case. Storm and Professor-X are endowed of powers that can reshape the world, wolverine heals, and beast... is smart, and has blue fur. This inequality is hard-codded into the X-men world, and it plays poorly in movies where personal agenda gets put before lore-accurate portrayals. For me, the X-men cartoon will always be the definitive portrayal. I'm not looking for Storm to run around in a skin tight silver bodysuit with a cape, but i would like her to have more maturity then the others main cast, a calm and somewhat cautious personality, and gentle and sometimes bitter wisdom born of experience... and when she cuts loose I want it to be intimidating.

The issue I have with giving these characters a ‘No Way Home’ treatment is simply that it’s neglecting the things that made it so good in the MCU: Comparing the Old Legacy to the New. I’m sorry but if No Way Home was just a Doctor Strange movie where he fought a bunch of Spider-Man villains for no reason it… wouldn’t have worked.
Tobey and Andrew aren’t ‘the new MCU Spidermen’ like you’re suggesting with Patrick Stewart or others. I don’t mind if we get references to the old X-men films but there needs to be a rework for the MCU.
Not just nostalgic Cherry Picking. Not just ‘give them the chance they deserve’
If we want some of the old cast just… cast them in the MCU. Not as the Fox versions, but as the MCU iterations. No multiverse required. Heck, even JK Simmons is a new character, not the Raimi version.
I appreciate the intent of this video but I think there can be some simpler answers.

Exactly. The actors who originally played them still exist in their universe. They can show up in the multiverse movies once or twice, but for the MCU we don't need to bring all of them back for it to be good. New interpretations of the characters is fine. It doesn't undo the other actors legacy and some can be variants (MCU character, but same actor). We can have a brand new cast or a few returning faces. I am fine with it as long as it is good.

Us true "X-Fans" completely disagree. We'd not only like better casted X-Men, but we'd also like "continuity". Nothing against Hugh, but it was always odd watching him play a character who's known for his diminutive stature, yet he was an entire foot too tall, & essentially "towered" over the entire cast. Logan is the shortest male of the X-Men, so his arch-nemesis (Sabretooth) mocks him by calling him "runt". Plus he's codenamed "Wolverine" because he's a short & ferocious fighter. No true X-Fan wants to see Jean & Logan tower over Storm & Cyclops, because it should be the direct opposite. Aside from the "physical" issues, essentially every movie played out as "Wolverine & the X-Men". Well, that is until they tried to make one of the X-Villains some type of "mutant" symbol & focused on her. They clearly didn't even know about Mystique's powers, because they wouldn't allow sentinels to "adapt" to other mutant powers (especially considering she's known not to be able to even mimic mutant powers, at all). Magneto has always held the role of "mutant messiah", so he clearly should've been the "symbol for mutantdom". And considering he's an Omega Level Mutant, Mags was always grossly underpowered--much like most of the other mutants (such as Rogue, Jean & Storm). I'm sure the MCU will do a far better job, considering they made their "leftover" IPs (like the Avengers & Guardians) into blockbusters & A-listers. The only ppl praising the "FoX-Men" movies are individuals who don't know much of the source material, and/or who think they were good movies because they don't have anything else to compare them to (i.e. no other live-action X-Men movies). That's like saying 1 restaurant has the best food, because you've never tasted food from another.

While it's cool that they can also bring this classic version of the characters like they did in NWH, it's important to remind that most of these actors are already too old (Patrick Stewart being the biggest exemple) or already moved to bigger things. I guess I'd be okay with some cameos in Doctor Strange 2, and I still want a Deadpool 3, but beyond that, please just let that old series die. It had so many ups and downs, it's just too convoluted and unsalvageable. I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but at this point I'd rather see a new actor give a new take on the character. He had the perfect sendoff, just let it be. I especially feel the same way about Patrick Stewart. The man is in his 80s, just let him retire in peace already. He's already worn out on Picard, a show he does NOT enjoy making. I'm also not interested in cherry picking actors we like as those characters but recasting others. I personally think the best way to bring the mutants into the MCU is a reverse House of M story line. Wanda creates mutants and the mutant gene. It's really the only logical and compelling storyline you could do.
Bringing in Tobey and Andrew, 2 people for 1 movie was fine and doable and made sense, but to bring in dozens of already established characters from another franchise and have them just become MCU versions, feels cheap and shoehorned in. Wanting some actors to return in a role, such as Patrick Stewart as professor X, doesn't mean wanting them to return as the same version of the character they played before. As someone who was 50/50 with the Fox X-men universe, I would rather have a complete reboot with new versions of the characters but maybe with some returning actors, like what they did with J.K Simmons as JJJ. If getting the original actors playing the original characters is what matters to you, then I'm sure you'll be very excited to see Nicholas cage return as Ghost rider, Jennifer Garner return as Elektra and Miles Teller return as Mr Fantastic.

So with putting WandaVision out first it probably had too many expectations placed on it that weren't ever to be a part of it.

I think that it would work if marvel rebooted the x-men in the mcu, but if they reused the old characters and tried to bring the xmen movies timeline into the multiverse it wouldn’t be good. Not only would I get very messy but the xmen franchise came to a emotional and satisfying end with Logan and I feel that bringing them back would tarnish that. Logan was the perfect goodbye to Wolverine and it would only undermine it if he or any other old xmen character was brought back.

I don’t think it’ll be Stewart’s Xavier. The leaked production photos have a model similar to Stewart’s Xavier but he’s putting his fingers to his temple while facing Wanda, something only Mcavoy’s Xavier did. Even then, I don’t think Patrick would break his goodbye-pack with Hugh Jackman that they had in Logan. Logan is a better send off than any MCU cameo could ever be. While I love Fassbender and Mcavoy’s ending in Dark Phoenix, that movie was trash. An MCU cameo would be an upgraded goodbye to the characters. I just hope they don’t let Wanda kill them or make them look pathetic in comparison.
The X-Men need a full reboot. Get rid of everyone except for Deadpool since he’s the only one who be explained with a joke (and would work, unlike Boner/Quicksliver.) They’re in DIRE need of a reboot that doesn’t have a foundation that feels like it’s embarrassed* to be a comic book movie.

Ok but Patrick Stewart is 81.... not to sound mean or anything, but I doubt they'd want an old Xavier. Other than that, another reason Disney will want to recast all of them is money. They'll cast mostly unknowns since the MCU brand at his point just sells anyway (no matter the quality) for the general audience. I wouldn't mind a recast, but you are absolutely right. The casting for X Men was mostly top-notch and I seriously doubt MCU can top them. Some of the Fox X-Men movies are head and shoulder above most if not all MCU movies and they don't get credit for them. X Men 1,2, First Class, Days of the Future Past, and Logan are all great movies. The Last 3 I mentioned are just absolutely fantastic movies.

The fact that some key Fox characters have/will have appeared doesn't make it the right choice to add the rest of the x-men to the mcu. Just because Patrick Stuart is gonna have a cameo in Multiverse of Madness (SPOILER: And if rumours are to be believed is gonna die during the film anyways) doesn't mean he should just be in the mcu properly, you really expect the 81 year old Patrick Stuart to stay on in a major role that will carry the MCU forward for the next decade?

As an X-Men fan more than a Marvel fan, I really disliked Fox's X-Men franchise. Mainly because IMO they weren't able to do justice to a lot of iconic characters in terms of characterization and respect to the source material. Cyclops, for example, one of the great leaders of the X-Men, was reduced to a secondary character throughout the original X-Men trilogy.

People get older, and eventually people die. They change, they take on new phases in their careers, and eventually they get too old to play certain characters.
Look, you need to accept that as perfect as the casting was for the Fox X-men movies, nearly 20 years have passed since then, and even the actors who aren’t too old yet probably won’t sign on for the kinds of contracts that Disney is looking for. The audience wants to see a more classic team of X-men to start with, and eventually we’ll see the team x-pand into new and x-citing team configurations. X-PUN

I'd prefer a complete separation after the horrendous Fox X-Men movies.
X-Men comics were the first comics I began reading since the early 90s. I remember being hype over news of the first movie, it being pushed back again and again, wondering if it'd ever happen, and then finally the first movie hits and... it was passable. X2 hits and was a huge step up but still only OK compared to the 90s show. I still hated seeing the black leather taking over the comics, and many of my favorite characters were constantly shafted in the movies.
I get it. Many people never read the comics. Many people just care about the action. For them, the movies were a fun introduction, but for me, it felt like they were mocking the source material most the time. Whether it was yellow spandex "jokes", continually making changes that were downgrades, or botching continuity dozens of times _per movie_ from First Class and onward.
I get it. Many people have little imagination and somehow think _only those actors_ could possibly be those characters. While Wolverine, Prof X, and Magneto have had amazing actors, the Fox movies did them little justice. These actors took shit writing and spun it into gold, but that doesn't mean we need to pull that crap universe into the MCU. Cut the cord already and let's get some proper X-Men stories on film. The characters & story should come before real life actors. (Something Fox never learned)

I will love the characters of Jackman, McAvoy, Fassbender, Stewart, and many others until the day I die. But, besides a cameo in MoM or something, the Fox X-Men era is over. The MCU usually nails the casting, so I trust them to get some damn good actors and actresses for the MCU. I think people who will compare them to Fox’s casts are missing the point. It’s not about how good they are in comparison to their legendary predecessors. If the directing, writing, and acting is on point, then it’s good enough for me. I am glad they are keeping Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, because he doesn’t have any of the problems that the others had. He’s perfect for the role, he’s still pretty young, and he hasn’t been in the role long. Great decision by Feige and the others.
I feel that they could bring McAvoy and/or Fassbender back for their roles, because they are still quite young, and we saw how good they can be with great writers and directors. They haven’t been at it terribly long either. Maybe there are some others who haven’t been in the Fox franchise for more than 10 years that could be brought back.
Talking about writing and directing, that is one reason I feel that the MCU makes good movies pretty consistently. The writing, directing, and acting are all usually solid. I mean, Andrew Garfield is the perfect example. We all saw how much better he was in NWH after he had some better writers and directors. The Suicide Squad with James Gunn directing was also a hell of a lot better than the hot mess that was the first one. There are so many others that I feel fit the role very well but didn’t get used properly at all.
