    This is probably the best oven made on TH-cam and he did it all with such crude tools the one thing I will say is it is also probably expensive that ceramic fiber board is $100 the bricks are at least $6 each idk the price on the ceramic felt but probably not cheep then the electrical ads up when u want to do a good job like he did with I intend to build one but for annealing glass the ovens happen to be very similar and I want to make it this well

    Amazing work! That's the most detailes DIY heat treatment oven i saw so far here on YT!
    Where did you got the insulating fire bricks from? Is Ytong insulation bricks also usable?

    • @erlendh3257
      @erlendh3257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ytong is not useable. They will crack very fast. Firebricks could be found at vitcas. They are based in england. But ship worldwide. 2 pound per brick. Go for grade 23. 26 is harder and does not keep on the heat as good as the 23.

  • @longrunner258
    @longrunner258 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You shouldn't apply solder to the ends of wires going into screw terminals, as the solder will creep under the screw pressure causing the connections to loosen and fail.
    (To properly add a solid end, ferrules can be crimped onto the conductor; alternatively, there are some styles of terminal strips designed to prevent damage to the strands.)
    Also, good practice is to avoid touching the heating wires with your bare skin, as perspiration can shorten their life.

    Dear TRITT, this oven is crazy, really good work! I was wondering, if you could tell me what kind of switch you used for the safety so the electricity is cut when you open the door?

    • @krtichacek
      @krtichacek 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a simple micro type switch. Honeywell makes an expensive model but Omron units are the same and very affordable.

    • @erlendh3257
      @erlendh3257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also called limit switch. Used for a mechanical operation (limit) to toggle a signal to let a computer know the axis is at its endpoint. Or for something like this. Make sure to grab one that can handle the voltage and amps you are working with.

  • @emanueleangelelli6398

  • @jpjay1584

    so the switch at the door will turn off the electricity.
    to not get a shock when (accidentally) touching the wires, I guess?

    Little question: how did you calculated the lenght on the resistance?

    • @erlendh3257
      @erlendh3257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kanthal a1 has a specific ohm (resistance) per meter. You can often get hold of the information on the manufacturers website. If you are on a 230 grid. It is as easy as you calculate how much power you want. Lets say 2500 watts for a chamber size of 15x15x45 cm. Lets say you are using a kanthal wire sized 1.2 mm² with a specific ohm per meter of 1.5 to make it easy. R=U²(voltage) over P (power watt) = 21.16 ohms. 21.16 ÷ 1.5 = 14.1 meters of 1.2mm wire. THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION NOR A REAL LIFE SCENARIO. THESE ARE MADE UP NUMBERS.
