    Still using mine in 2024 for all voice overs. It's a beast. Has phantom power too which is handy. TBH I have never hit a limitation that made me think to upgrade. Running on Windows 10. Looks like the "EX" model is 2008 apparently.

      Nice to hear that. Im still using mine to dump and my original music to the computer, it just works flawlessly everytime, no issues.

    I've owned a UA-25EX for about 10 years and the device is built like a tank. I predominantly use it for tracking my guitar/bass/vocals in my demo songs. Although I have used it to record my band at rehearsal. I'm using Cubase as my DAW. This little thing just works. It's a shame it doesn't have a visual meter for the input level.

      Yeah totally, I have been using it for voiceovers for the past year and it works everytime, sounds real nice, no complaints at all ! I'm glad other people out there are still rockin this things too !

    I have one of these...they are solid performing units. I use Macs and Roland doesn't have drivers for the latest OS's. Still, I find lots of uses for it on some of my older Macs.

    Still one of the best preamps on a interface out there warm

    • @UOttawaScotty

      Since I uploaded this original video I have been using this thing pretty regularly, my most recent video where I reconditioned a SeaDoo jet pump features a few voice overs using the Roland and I was watching the video this morning and I was noticing how good the voiceover sounded and thinking to myself how good this little thing is. People don't want these anymore, I got this for a 4 pack of beer.

      Some People think this interface is outdated and old,they go for more newer interface's.which is not a bad thing, but don't underestimate this interface for vocals coupled with a decent mic the preamp is ozing warmth and presence. am getting one again this week

    Nice! Still using my old UA-25EX, after a 10 year hiatus, for recording voice & guitar with Cubase12 on Windows10! The drivers for Windows10 seem defective, so I managed to make the UA-25EX work by using the free universal driver ASIO4ALL, which acts as a connection bridge between the UA-25EX and Cubase. Latency is low, sound is good and it works very well! I bought a 2023 Steinberg audio interface just in case, but it is still in its box, the UA-25EX keeping "sitting on the audio throne"!

      Excellent comment here! This may help others trying to rock it with windows 10. I still use it for my original stuff, work perfectly and like you say, sounds amazing!

    Still have and use mine word of warning Roland hampered the drivers for the UA-25 on windows 10. Works great on Linux but you can install the drivers on Windows 10 it's just a bit faffy

    I just picked up a UA-25EX for free, someone was giving it away on my local free FB group.
    Using it on Win10 and Pro Tools Intro. It's my first external audio interface, all I had before was a Behringer USB mic. (Bigfoot)
    Looking forward to messing around with an acoustic guitar (with built in pickup) plugged straight in, may also mic it up and see what sweet sounds I can get. So far does a nice job :)

    2023 and I'm still using my UA25 with the free Cakewalk Sonar that came with a Boss Micro BR80. I upgraded to Windows 10 (32 bit) but the UA25 is not supported. However, I found a workaround on TH-cam with W8 and Vista drivers. I record guitar work and the latency is only 80ms. When it goes I'll have to renew PC, interface and learn a new DAW 😮. To record mono just press the switch in top right labelled "mono" 😂.

  • @onzkicg

    Looks good. When do you use the 24bit feature? Have you noticed any sonic difference with recording?

    • @TheDddkkk
      @TheDddkkk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that discussion is as old as the first digital recording long long time ago. to analog comparison 24 is the minimal to be a studio recording quality. if your ears hear it, fuck that. not important. most people above 35 have bad ears so doesnt matter shit.

    I was just given one of these from a dear friend yesterday.
    Did you figure out the mono record feature yet?
    I was just going to use this for performing live. Does the 'mono button' on the front help?
    I think my 'out' will be via the rca's into a Y jack and then into a DI.
    My other interface is the tapco "LINK.USB" 2x2. I be the king of old gear. har! lol

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome ;). The mono thing is more of a problem with Audacity and Filmora than anything else, if you have some proper DAW software you'd be laughing. I use this thing all the time for voiceovers on my channel and I am very pleased with it !

    They also make a good optical DAC with your TV. You don't need drivers, I think you might need to select simple mode. FYI you should be able to lower the latency via the driver. I'ma try it myself.

    I have one of these too, for music production. I record percussion and vocals. it records no worse than new sound cards. The preams of this product are great!
    ryzen5 2600, 16gb, w10 pc, studioone 5. with new asio4all driver and minimal lag. headphone output is also good. I'm using a 250 ohm beyerdynamic dt150
