Aww, he's so cute! A few summers ago, my sister and I had a pair of chickadees teach their babies that we were a good source of food. They landed first, took some food, and then encouraged their babies to do the same. It was a very magical experience.
I currently have a baby one of these in my bedroom... It fell 3 stories from my condo roof and has been with me for 3 days. I barely has feathers and is very tiny. Eyes are open and getting stronger every day.
This is priceless! I wish I had one! They're so precious and I love to hear/listen to them throughout the day. I never heard of these Chickadees until I moved from Chicago to the east coast, and am glad to see just how friendly they are...even more, how gentle you were while handling this lil' one. I've bred cockatiels for years, and although many find it hard to believe, the mama & papa (Joey & Chloe) actually sit on my hand to participate w/my hand-feedings. Thank you for sharing! :)
Aw so cute I looked up baby chickadee as I'm feeding chickadees right now outside they are just so cute wish I could pet one but I know I can't but baby chickadees are the best
This is like my little pal I found the other day. He was okay and released safely back into wild. I miss the little fella and he was very sweet little chickadee like the one in this video. "Some birds aren't meant to be caged, their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live is that much more drab and empty when they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend." Well, maybe that's a bit over the top with a short stay chickadee but the reference fits and it fits for a variety of situations. Hope it has some meaning and helps others too.
Not in any case that I know of. Birds, even the ones with great senses of smell, aren't bothered by human scent enough to abandon their young. There are tons of baby birds banded every breeding season, and many are handled without gloves. They go right back to the nest, and after they get over the stress, bird family life returns to normal.
Wow his family is going nuts! Their mama still feeds them after they fledge. Must be hard to keep tabs on all the babies! lol he’s so cute!!! Hope he ended up healthy and happy! Thanks for helping him out of the driveway! Hate when they try to stay warm under the cars. Always afraid one will hop up into the engine block and get hurt. :)
@tylorh26 ......I think these birds have to be friendly......they're practically defenseless......these birds nest in tiny tree cavities that only the mating chickadees can get in and out of.......otherwise they'll get their heads pecked in and they're babies get killed and eggs get pecked by House Sparrows........birdhouses with chickadees have to be monitored constantly and the hole for the nestbox should be 1 1/8 inch in diameter to keep House Sparrows out.
@dogsonthego You're welcome! If I had a greenhouse...it would be their haven! When Joey & Chloe had their 1st flock, only 1 baby survived. I heard it tweeting as it was coming out of the egg. I prayed that it would survive (as I didn't know a thing about breeding & never anticipated that it would lead to that). She survived, and I named her baby, but ONLY until she got away! I accidently forgot to latch their cage door & she flew out. I got her back the next a.m., and named her "Miracle" ;)
@stayAU Thanks for the advice! When I was little I picked up a baby bird...I washed my hands and then felt very guilty...BUT NOW THAT IS LIFTED! HURRAH!
@CanadianReich Then something was already wrong with the baby birds. Birds DO NOT have a sense of smell, and unless you damaged them in some way, the mother would have taken them back.

The feeling of holding a chicadee is so good
I love Black capped chickadees. They are my favorite bird.
Chickadess and woodpeckers are my favourite bird to hand feed
So cute!! I have 4 that come to my feeders everyday, several times a day. Love these little cuties!! ❤❤
Ahem... I most certainly did NOT squee when it chirped. Nope, not me. I'm a grown man.... 😒🙄
...darn it. 🐥❤
I've never heard of squee before. Thank you, learned a new word.
You are incredibly gentle picking him up. You have a good soul. 😊🕊

Birds Like This Are So Cute, But THE BABIES DESERVE THE CROWN AS THE CUTEST BIRDS AAAAAAAAAAAAA 💙💙
IT'S SO ADORABLE!!!!

This human smell theory has been debunked officially I think
@@chippin32 This is a made-up story told by parents to discourage their kids from handling baby birds.
Aw. Little guy. Good on you for looking out for him.

Wow such patience and gentle handling. Great video, very cute.
Maybe it wanted a lift to choir practice?
I am envious. I want to hold a Chickadee.
Once when I was standing in My grandmas garden so still a wild bird landed on my arm

Some birds can smell exceptionally well actually. But touching a baby bird will still not lead to them being abandoned.
I wish I could touch one!!!
This little birds are so friendly!
Welcome to my garden I have some sparrows too
Birds do have a ability to smell, they are not as good as some mammals, but some are pretty good like some vultures.

I love these birds..
we have fantails here in new zealand that are VERY friendly & look a bit the same...
Cute little guy glad he's safe
you are so lucky the mum isn't there....
Oh no! He's just a little guy who needs help. A sweetie.
Oh Man... You are lucky... Guess what my nickname is Chickadee, after the bird... I am so jealous, but in a good way...
@stayAU Thanks for the advice! When I was little I picked up a baby bird...I washed my hands and then felt very guilty...BUT NOW THAT IS LIFTED! HURRAH!
@IndigoCat17 Because it's still fluffy, and unsure of its wings. Also, its little tail feathers aren't fully grown in :)
Какой он миленький
omg!! i wish i could pick up a bird! did he hang around your home for a long time?
Its so fluffy I'm gonna die!
@Birdietweet how did it get in the basement?
i love it
Black-Capped Chickadee. aka "Cheeseburger Bird"
Wonderful vid....did the bird survive ?
@CanadianReich That's a myth. Birds have no sense of smell, so how would they know?
that bird is doomed now
How do u know its a baby I mean Chicakdees are that small when they are adults
really cute! (:D
cute

Gloves are mainly used to help protect you from disease...
